Now I remember why I hate the Dyson Battlezone. I work hard soloing a point since there is nobody around, as soon as I finish it, some jerk comes along and steals all the Dyson Credits, TRIBBLE me out of work.
How come this was never fixed, Cryptic? Having Dyson Credit balls being taken up by people who did nothing is just wrong and lame.
What really annoying is the threat mechanic is just useless.
I will run past a voth shooting npc defenders, with my boffs and security guards.
The voth then stops shooting the defender, WHO IS SHOOTING THE VOTH!!, i am not, i am running past.
Let me repeat that, the voth STOPS shooting someone who is SHOOTING HIM, to shoot at someone running past......WTF?
Then, he doesn't shoot at my security, he doesn't shoot at my boffs, just me.
I cannot fathom how much threat gen players must have for this to happen, its crazy.
Did the programmers put an extra 0 at the end? Over 9000?!!!! Cause they thought it would be funny?
Whats even worse is, when you run past a voth shooting a swarmer, and they both stop and shoot ME!!!!

Just, wow.
Yep, that's about what I think it is too. Just one big joke at our expense.
I presume it's something in place to keep people from AFKing in the combat areas.. that said, it does get a little obnoxious at times - especially the swarmers.
The two things that for me are the most annoying and unenjoyable about the Dyson Battlezone.
I have no idea why they made Dyson credits work the way they do. It causes frustration over something small and otherwise simple. I am supposed to work as a team to take an area then I have to race and compete with my "teammates" to get these credits? I have stopped trying to get these in crowded areas. I hate having to run around like an obnoxious and desperate little kid. I usually go to an unpopulated instance to get them. Otherwise people will just stand and do nothing or nearly nothing watching me solo an area and then run for all the Dyson credits when they pop up. They should be given out to players automatically based on how much they have participated in taking an area.
The Hostile NPCs see me from half way across the map it seems and come just to shoot me. It is like the NPC says forget this guy trying to shoot me in the face from 3 meters away there is a player on the other side of the map that doesn't know I am here that I am going to go shoot at. If this is for AFKers why don't they just stop giving any form of credit to people that are doing nothing?
Also when the V-Rexs spawn a lot of people just seem to move on to the next one after doing a little damage one.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Well, it hasn't been "fixed" because it's not broken - it's clearly working as designed.
That said, I agree that it's a lousy design and should be changed to automatically award the credits to battle participants.
Yeah, its one of those point of view problems. If you view it as programming, it's working as intended. But if you view it as practicality issue, it's not.
Just ironic that they designed the Dyson Sphere zones for people to work together, not rip each others heads off. Perhaps they are just sadistic?

Indeed, it's simple and yet so frustrating. If you need Dyson Credits for the dailies, you will do anything and everything to get it. Even if you had to knock over your own grandmother. If you need it for securing the points (without the mission), it becomes a meh matter and "help yourself".
Then as you mentioned, the T-Rex matter, as well as the AFKers who just stand around waiting for the end. And of course the problems with the Winter Event. Guess they are too busy working on 8.5 and Season 9 to care about fixing problems?
I hated Nukara for the same reason. It is a MMO mechanic that rewards loot ganking, and discourages actual team play. SWTOR is way worse. I mean, why team up with people, when you can easily steal the objective point or loot drop from them when they are drawing all the enemy agro? I hate people who pull that s*^t.
Gonna have to disagree with this, while stating I totally understand the feelings and thoughts of the others who have posted so far.
The reduction in # of needed purple shinies from 120 to a mere 60 (for the dailies) with the amount that drop on every capture point, I have had no problem gathering what is needed during a run thru of the BZ.
I guess I just don't allow myself to get worked up over the actions of other players. I simply take my time, and by the end of the BZ I have enough to fulfill both dailies. Letting myself get upset because some jerk (and it is a minority that act like jerks) stole an virtual purple shiny thing, just does not grok with me.
If I find myself actually getting upset like that, I can change instances.
Just my experience.
Like I said, I do understand the people who posted earlier.

But not every Fleet has unlocked Tier 3 Spire and got those reduction. The Fleets I am are still Tier 1 and don't see benefits of upgrading since we rather finish up the Dilithium Mines, which we expect to happen by summer time (since we have to save up on the 2 million Dilithum for the upgrade).

I'm sorry, I get so worked, up. But I for one am just plain tired of the lameness of STO gameplay where I work hard and someone reaps the reward. And switching instances? Well it works for you, but I don't want to run into another instance every time someone wrongs me. That's why I posted, I'm standing my ground.
I personally would like the Cryptic team to think more how players would interact so such things wouldn't happen, and boost the idea of teamwork and cooperation, not griefing and taking advantage of others. That's a major reason why some people just don't bother going back to some zones or even MMOs. And all it takes is one griefer.

Same with Defera. It's not that grating on the Easy runs, which I just brush off as typical rude asshats. It's when soloing the Mediums that it pisses me off.
The only exception to the attitude that I take regarding jerks and Easy runs is the "Cooler Heads" assignment. It annoys me that some people will hide behind the coolant tanks and wait for somebody to clear the two Drones, then shut down the leak before you get to the tank.
I'm the type of person that will help another player about to get overwhelmed, and I don't mind sharing. And I'll heal a fallen player that I happen to come upon. Too bad that everybody doesn't have that same spirit of cooperation. They're so damned desperate chasing that freakin' grind that they forget that there are other people playing too.
And no, being on a team isn't necessary for helping others and being civil to other players.
I have to agree with the first 2 posts. Leechers suck, and wtf is up with the threat/aggro mechanic that causes the Voth to ignore NPCs that are SHOOTING at them when I still have my weapons holstered?
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

No, that's 60 credits without fleet discounts. One 20-credit guy and one 40-credit guy will finish the daily.
With fleet discounts, you can finish the daily with one capture point.
my biggest pet hate is the v-rex fight. Stop the Voth Engineers from stealing the Omega particles. The Omega Particle level is below x amount. The Voth have almost all the Omega particles. Yet you get people if in that zone if its just them, ignore the engineers and target the v-rex losing that zone. Complete stupidity

Just for the record, keep in mind that landing one shot on the T-Rex will give you "full credit" for beating it. Therefore, if you have landed one shot on the dino, then you can just hang out on the platform killing the medic-scientists that want to jack all the particles, letting the rest of the group make the actual kill(s)...
With the flanking bonus, it's more than possible to keep up on the particle thieves and land the occasional shot on the dino...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Why all the hate for people who tag the V-Rex's for? This game relies on Dil and the most efficient and easiest way to get said dil is to tag the Rex's and then kill the 3rd one you tag. If the other two are still up then go back to the second then the first. They fall over dead quite quickly too if you use the Dyson Set and everyone gets their rewards. I ask you what is better 1K Dill or 3.6K Dill for the same amount of work.
However I do agree that ignoring Voth engineers is stupid I never ignore them and I will kill them always before even thinking of tagging the dinos. Cryptic designed the game mechanic for this it's not our fault that people who perhaps have limited time go a head and get the most bang for their time.
Also as a side note I also do help people in the zone I won't leave someone lying dead on the ground waiting for respawn or leave their boffs their either.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
No Drama, No Fuss, Just good old fashioned pew pew!
As I can run the BZ 3 or 4 times in a row I can't get upset enough by the leechers "stealing" the credits, as I usually have enough of them by half way through the second run to complete both dailies, after that I just leave them lying where they fell.
The problem with "taggers" is that they agro the V-Rex and then usually **** off back to the CC to hide. I normally find myself soloing a silo, as a result I learned that if you completely ignore the V-Rex, you can safely stand on the steps and kill the Voth, after killing 6 or 8 of them no more will spawn so the silo is now safe, which means you can now concentrate on the V-Rex. However if a "tagger" appears then you have big trouble, as you now have one pissed off V-Rex chomping on your TRIBBLE before the silo is safe, I'm pretty sure this is why so many runs seem to be a failure, with only 1 or 2 silos captured, as it's a long run back from the respawn point for the park and city.
With the flanking bonus, it's more than possible to keep up on the particle thieves and land the occasional shot on the dino...
Let me make it even better, you can start from city, shoot the dino once, kill the thief's get nuked by mortars, run to outskirts, kill thiefs and land shot to the dino, go to park, kill thiefs and hit the dino, and do this in time when none of the bosses have died yet.
afterwards go sit in middle of map to wait for rewards from killing the thiefs once
Say the word, it saves the world. CUUCUUMBEER!"-With slight partigen with it." Proud member or DPS-800"-We kill dem mines with our scitter turrets."
However I do agree that ignoring Voth engineers is stupid I never ignore them and I will kill them always before even thinking of tagging the dinos.
Nah, you gotta MULTITASK better than that. As you run past the dino to get to the Medics, you pop a shot off at the Dino while you go. Since the medics turn their backs on you, it's easy for you, alone, to gun them down, and once they're dead, you're off to the next silo to do the same.
Though in fairness, one could argue that the same applies to some of the STF's too - most notably 'Hive Onslaught' where we are supposed to swallow the idea that, when faced with news that one of the greatest threats they've known (the Borg AND their Queen no less) are loitering around nearby, our respective organisations send five ships to deal with it. Five ships.
Ahem. 6 ships. They send 6 ships. 5 of you, and the Houston.
This entire season should be a lesson in how not to make new content, from the battlezone to there sphere and space queue events.
The battlezone is a joke in design. It is very easy when things are working as intended, the power ups scattered on the ground are moronic, the collection of command credits is a great way to grief people, dino tagging it a good exploit to frustrate the fewer honest people. There are daily missions that are over very fast leaving the instances mostly full of afkers because they only took 5 minutes to complete, there is nothing to do really once those are done. The afkers will often find safe zones that can increase spawn counts of your local objective and actually make it difficult, which is nice but not intended. The only decent thing in the whole zone are the mini-bosses, which are a good challenge solo, but if you are in a group serve nothing but a small delay.
Nothing kills your will to play a game more than an entire zone that is seemingly designed to get you grieved.
The sphere mini missions have gone from mostly a waste of time to a complete waste in the latest changes, they reward so little why would anyone do them? The rest of the content is over fast as well, the 3 missions in the allied zone take longer to fly there then complete, and the contested zone's version of non-dynamic capture and hold that plague the entire game is a boring waste of time.
The 2 queue missions are perhaps the worst of the whole season in regards to completely wasted dev time. Storming the Spire is an exercise in repetition, there is nothing the least bit challenge, nothing intelligent, no real strategy that a 5th grader couldn't master. Its one phase after another after another of the same trash over and over.
Into the Breach, even on elite, is like someone decided that people who are physically unable to reach the keyboard should still be able to beat stfs without taking hull damage. There was a lot of time put in to make this massive city ship, that couldn't hurt a fly, is comically easy to destroy and because of that is just a mind numbing waste of time, so much that afkers are too frequent here. Despite its lack of any challenge, its longer than completing most of the STFs combined because of slow, unfun distances, just poor mission design, but I guess speed runs on this one are pointless. Maybe instead of making missions that aren't over in 2 minutes you actually fix the game?
For me the whole season was a failure, to the point that I log in, Doff and then log off. They need to seriously fix stuff before expanding again.
dino tagging it a good exploit to frustrate the fewer honest people.
The griefers here are the groups of people that kill the dino's 1 at a time and make it not possible for other people to get the rewards. If everyone tagged then everyone would get the 3-4k dili instead of the measly rewards for just killing 1 or 2.
Not tagging simply defies all logic and one has to conclude people do this to grief everyone else out of their dilithium, while if everyone tagged the whole istance will get the full amount of dilithium
Gonna have to disagree with this, while stating I totally understand the feelings and thoughts of the others who have posted so far.

It takes 80 to finish the daily. The majority of us do not get that discount.
Also just because you do not mind having your work stolen out from under you does not mitigate in any way that it is just flawed to even allow it to happen to begin with. Furthermore, many times these spheres can drop in unreachable places which further makes it plain stupid that they exist in this fashion at all. They could be automatically granted like everything else and that would solve the problem.
Even if you automatically get a set amount from each capture if you put in enough effort to get the reward for that capture in general that would be superior to the way it currently is.
So, for instance, maybe provide 30 credits for each normal capture point and 20 for the teleporters. Or maybe even 30 for everything but teleporters and generators and 40 for the generators and 20 for the teleporters.
That would be fairly similar to how it is now but would be a far more fair and appropriate method of providing the reward.
The griefers here are the groups of people that kill the dino's 1 at a time and make it not possible for other people to get the rewards. If everyone tagged then everyone would get the 3-4k dili instead of the measly rewards for just killing 1 or 2.

Seriously? Your justification is that everyone should exploit tagging? and you call people who aren't taggers griefers? really? lol no.
I do not understand, how can a method that screws everyone over be normal and the method that benefits everyone count as griefing ?
The game even has an accolade for engaging all 3 at once so it is clearly working as intended
Incorrect. The accolade is for having beaten each of the bosses at least once. I've never tagged and I have the accolade on all of the characters that I've done BZ with. So no... that argument doesn't hold water either.
Tagging only benefits "everyone" if "everyone" is a tagger.
Tagging only benefits "everyone" if "everyone" is a tagger.
Incorrect: Tagging benefits everyone, even those too naive to understand how to properly run the zone, by causing a flow of experienced players to cycle the areas, rather than concentrating in a sequence. If there was no tagging, there would be extreme pressure to run the areas in a specific sequence, the zone would be FAR more angry with noobs who break the sequence, and the entire experience would simply be far more stressful and angry than the present, since everyone would then be required to run the area in a specific order in order for everyone to get full rewards. Anyone breaking the sequence would then be griefing the entire instance.
As it stands, experienced players now circulate the zone, tagging and killing the medics, before settling into a final area and mopping up. Rates of failure doing this are far lower than in the age BEFORE people tagged, where players would concentrate in preferred sequences, and areas that received insufficient clueful players would simply fail outright, as no fresh players would cycle through, some of which would understand the importance of killing the medics before leaving.
In short, tagging DOES benefit everyone, even those too clueless, or obstinately stupid, to realize it.
Indeed, this past week or so I have never been in an instance where a dino encounter was lost due to the medics. Tagging has substantially increased success rate

For me the whole season was a failure, to the point that I log in, Doff and then log off. They need to seriously fix stuff before expanding again.
Completed Starbase, Embassy, Mine, Spire and No Win Scenario

The griefers here are the groups of people that kill the dino's 1 at a time and make it not possible for other people to get the rewards. If everyone tagged then everyone would get the 3-4k dili instead of the measly rewards for just killing 1 or 2.
Not tagging simply defies all logic and one has to conclude people do this to grief everyone else out of their dilithium, while if everyone tagged the whole istance will get the full amount of dilithium

I do not understand, how can a method that screws everyone over be normal and the method that benefits everyone count as griefing ?
The game even has an accolade for engaging all 3 at once so it is clearly working as intended
Tagging only benefits "everyone" if "everyone" is a tagger.
