What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

The ARC uninstall.

Hey there.

Iv downloaded the ARC a while back and I do like the program, its just I have a lower end PC and I really dont want any extra programs running in the background.

I also have the program Ccleaner and I tried running the uninstaller for ARC in Ccleaner. But nothing happens at all, not even an error pop up.
So I tried going into the ARC folder and running the uninstaller from there and even tried running as administrator. But again nothing at all happens.

Anybody else have the same problem with ARC and/or find a solution.
Sorry if im posting in the thread, didnt see anywhere else to put an ARC question.

All right, the ARC is installed in a PWE folder and I just went threw every folder in the ARC folder and did not see an traces of STO. I opened ARC and I dont see a way to uninstall STO from ARC just a play now button.

I quit everything and tried once more and double clicked on the uninstall.exe and now my performance is through the roof, and my mouse is stuck on a loading icon.:mad::eek::rolleyes:

Im going to restart my PC and see if that will help.

So I just restarted my PC and tired uninstalling the ARC every way possible. I dont see any STO/Star Trek Online folder in the ARC folder. The option to uninstall STO from ARC is not an option and is un clickable, greyed out. I accidentally hide STO and cant find a way to un hide it.

And once again my PC performance is threw the roof and my cursor is stuck loading nothing.
    :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Now I just regret ever downloading ARC and have a useless program installed on my computer.

PS: My Arc uninstall.exe is for some reason a shortcut and cant seem to find the actual exe. Can that be the reason why?

Anybody ever have this same problem. if more info is needed plz let me no.

Yes I downloaded STO about 2yrs ago and downloaded the Arc about half a year ago.

And when I right click to open file location for the uninstall.exe it bring me to a folder with a few random files and one Arc file witch is a setup.exe file.

IDK whats wrong. If anything can you tell me how I can un-hide the game in Arc so I can at least play?
If I will never seem to uninstall it.

Yes. my Star Trek Online folder is installed on my desktop and nothing related STO is in anything Arc.

Well at this point after a little searching Im not finding no way around this. Mainly cause it seems if you have Arc you need to play the game through it, type of deal.

At this point ill just keep playing with Arc in the background, thanx for trying to help in all.
And sorry for creating this thread, for it got no where. :)

Try this: Manually delete the folder containing Arc. Then try running CCleaner's registry cleaner tool to see if you can get rid of the registry values as well.

I would like to try that, to see if it would work for others who might come across this problem in the future. But Iv spent to much time trying to uninstall Arc, I just give up, and want to warp in game now.

I will try that solution some time down the road but just not now. After I try that I will come back to this thread it post if it worked or not.

    Thanx again guys.

thats what i would of done as well.

if its being stubborn and it wont delete itself, then forcing it off the computer is the only hope. i would also make sure to check arc isnt running in the processes as well and then kill it off if it is.

I'll be honest, seeing this thread makes me bothered even more at ARC.

Given the comments in this thread, seems like ARC is acting more like a computer virus than an application, if people are having this much trouble getting rid of it. On top of that, the issue of low-end computers still are being slowed down that it makes it impossible to play STO.

So I really hope they don't force that on us and let us stay with the STO launcher.

doesnt matter, from what i read, cryptic have already decided it should come regardless if it acts like a virus. im sure there will be flame fest threads for a few weeks. either there is enough players at the end of the day to validate this spy software or there is not, in which case it could end STO if not. rather silly forcing the issue, not gonna put another DOOOM!!! touch to the thread any more then necessary however.

Well the performance issue, Perfect World's demeanor pretty much shows that they have already written off the low-performance crowd. But if ARC doesn't uninstall like it supposed to be and acts like a virus, the forums is the least of their concern.

Try this. When uninstalling ARC, it asks yo if you want to delete games also. Just check NO and continue with ARC uninstalling. STO will stay on computer but the ARC will be gone. Than to run STO just find STO folder on your hard disk drive and start the game. Worked for me.

There's a free tool named "Revo Uninstaller" (http://www.chip.de/downloads/Revo-Uninstaller_27291156.html <- though that's the German version but you'll find the English one as well) which will usually make short work of stubborn, resident programs. I'd try that :)

My solution was to create a shortcut of STO on my desktop from the root file and that way I bypassed ARC and now the game launches from itself instead of through ARC.

Companies cannot put software on peoples computers and tell the customer to lump it. I dont know if anybody recalls the Sony rootkit affair but that cost them dearly Thy never tried it again afterwards.

    Not me.

...but that's only because it follows with the suspicions I've had ever since their "Oh noes, we intend it to run all teh time" logic became clear.
