What does your captain and their bridge crew do together on their off time?

Now we all know Picard and his bridge crew play poker and do reenactments in the Holodeck, and whenever possible Kirk and his friends go out camping or maybe have a little Tr-Dimensional chess match. Which makes me curious... How does YOUR captain and their bridge crew spend their off time?

S'Tana Lestar of the USS Rhythmic Hearts (an Atrox carrier) forms a band with her own bridge crew. And her Klingon first officer K'Der seems comfortable playing the electronic holoharp (they like holding their concerts within the holodeck which off duty personell like to watch along with a holographic audience)....

Finn Hawkins of the USS Kusanagi (modified Escort Carrier) trains his crew in all sorts of martial arts. His Klingon first/tactical officer Lonos stares at him funny and keeps trying to bite him though...

The crew of my namesake captain (U.S.S. Ataru Moroboshi, the Obisek carrier)... um... uh... Let's say that when duty isn't calling, it's time for a nap. :)
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"

"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

Vice Admiral Do'eth (commanding officer, IRW Vengeance) gets drunk in the mess hall with her crew, then sneaks off to her quarters where she toasts to a picture on her wall. Her therapist is attempting to cure her constant depression by getting her to run Shakespeare comedy holoprograms with him and the humorously humorless Breen Subcommander Zel, with few results so far.

Lieutenant General Gu'ral of the House of Grilka (commanding officer, IKS Indomitable) watches the 20th-21st century Earth television show "Doctor Who" with her bridge crew. They drink a lot of bloodwine while watching River Song episodes.

Lieutenant Commander Nemesis unit designation Three (commanding officer, USS George Takei), who is completely genre savvy, gives her entire crew lectures on "Star Trek" and the importance of not wearing red shirts on duty. She also has romantic dates with her beautiful Andorian first officer, and justifies her relationship to Command as relapses of (nonexistent) alien mind control.

Jennifer j'taH Firali usually spends her off-duty time drinking bloodwine & being generally festive with her mostly Klingon Senior Officers. So, drinking, fighting and headbutting are the usual normal for them, when not on duty. Other than that, her favourite shore-leave time is kicking the Borg in Defera Invasion zone, and she plans of moving there once she retires her Starfleet career, to repay the Borg for the 'kindness', to be their constant pain in ... you know where.

Jan Darkrider aka One of Six tends to spend her off-duty times alone, trying to come to terms with her individuality, humanity and all the philosophical mess, including pondering & understanding about morality and her position with it, which can get her head into a full tangled mess. Also occassionally returns back to the Academy grounds, to sit by the pond, listen to the water flow and relax herself. Also shares the hobby of the Admiral mentioned above, when it comes to relationship with the Borg.

Stomvhal, RA on his flagship the USS Tonnant forms a baseball team out of his crew. They play on the holodeck against some of the best teams in history.

When not playing baseball it's cutthroat spades, 50 EC a point.

My captain mostly deals with reports and stuff that he gets as a vice admiral while traveling and other than that he hangs out with his love on the holodeck. He also occasionally messes with the jolodeck programs to prank unsuspecting officers!

Captain Blood Rave and his officers in their off duty time are on the holodeck refighting some of the battles from Earth classical era, though Commander T'nar finds it illogical with the battle of Thermopylae because the Revenge crew likes fighting as the Spartans.

Other than that, team sports are encouraged on ship, usually officers vs enlisted, music and arts are also encouraged on ship with Captain Blood Rave breaking out the electric guitar, the Revenge's Klingon chief Engineer does his animal thing on drums

the Nightfire's Bridge crew mostly spends it's time playing an old alien game in the holodeck. basically a zero gravity cross between basket ball and soccer. sometimes they even broadcast the game to the rest of the crew as a tournament. the betting money is usually divided between the winners, with captain pirko taking the lion's share. this whole practice goes unknown to the rest of starfleet, as even when guests are on-board, the games are kept very hush-hush. alot of people wonder where pirko gets his fortunes from....

on the otherhand, captain saphender keeps a bit tighter hold on her crew. they're all either working on experimental weapons in their free time, or asleep. you need alot of rest to deal with a crazy person like her all day.

Well I know that a have a Gorn doff that has a clutch of eggs and sometimes my Romulan officers spend time watching them, since I have this nasty habit of sending her off to "Scavenge battle wreckage from a skirmish" but hey shes good at her job, thats why I keep her quarters warm to keep her happy.

As far as the Remen go I think they spend time with a couple letheans and the cardassian exchange officers down in the bar, all I know is they keep it pretty dim down there but boy can they they really get to jamming with their spontaneous jokes when they "Preform some ~traditional~ Klingon Opera". Man can they have a good time, even the exchange officers from the KDF have a good natured laugh at that.

As far as their diligent Captain goes...have you even seen all the paperless work that D'Tan give me to go over. Every dang day I have to submit reports on the relations between me and the Klingon Empire, and I usually get some nasty letter from another politician who works with the Federation telling me that I REALLY REALLY should stop shooting them considering they are also our allies. Thats only half the time tho, the other half send me letters reminding me that there are very few Romulans and Remans left in the galaxy and I shouldnt be killing them in these stupid skirmishes. Im not sure what they want from me, its not like I have a choice. I would love for all of the Romulans and Remans to get along just like my crew, but its as if some strong, yet cryptic, force has split us in twain as some kind of serious joke.

Yeah I know, not exactly exciting but these are the things that a Republic Commander has to deal with. Sometimes I just wish I could stop fighting and make a living as a miner or trader, but this universe seems to be nothing but me pointing a weapon at something. Sour viinerine I guess.

I think my Klingons drink, headbutt each other, and curse a lot.

From the looks of my Romulans, I think they listen to Goth music, and cut themselves.

If I include crew, this would be a long list... I'll just list my literary captains, in chronological order...

Rufus Bates enjoyed playing cricket with his senior staff.
      Ahmed Nasir was an archeologist.
Marcus Kane designed stuff, but his true passion was for the Vulcan harp.
Amanda Palmer cruised bathhouses for sex with random women. She also played the trumpet.
      Ael t'Kazanak enjoys painting.

Captain Clazorus Vissyr Kazove of the USS Renaissance and Captain Joseph Penbrooke of the USS McCoy get together and play billiards. I wanted something original and came up with this and then I figured out the crew of the Enterprise-F does the same thing, but I'm sticking to it.

Vice Admiral Rick Frostwell of Justice-1 (Defiant class) usually holds up in his ready room or quarters with a book or sopmetimes cane be found on the holodeck with his bridge crew engaged in fire fight simulations, on rare occasions he can be found in his ready room cleaning and mantaining an antique 9mm pistol made by Glock during one of Earth's darkest times, known as a LawGiver, which one was used by his great great grandfather, even though this weapon is DNA encoded to Vice Admiral Frostwell alone, he perfers the use of a standard federation phaser, alot more reliable.

His first officer loves to study the history of different weapons and meditation tecniques of different cultures, she perfers to think of herself as a reminder to the ViceAdmiral of StarFleet's main mission to seek out new intelligent life and explore strange new worlds, she also can be found in the Holodeck in a ball room simulation.

His Chief Engineer is an andorian and loves to participate in activities with the first officer, other than that he can often times be found in the galley cooking or on the holodeck engaged in detective holonovels.

The Chief Medical Officer can often times be found in the holodeck in a monestary meditating or in the galley talking to other members of the crew and organizing events such as ping-pong competitions or even movie nights, often times she has to resort to enlisting the aid of the chief security officer to get such things approved by the Vice Admiral.

The Chief Security Officer often times is conspiring with the chief medical officer about yet another event to help the crew relax and get their minds off of the duldrums of life on a defiant class ship, however when she isn't busy with this, she can be found in the holodeck on the beach or in her quarters asleep

There are a few more bridge officers whom don't really participate in the off duty pass times of the others, they often times can be found fast asleep in their quarters if not studying over reports from their departments.

i of e spends her off time creating havoc in the Borg Collective. Klingon Opera was a somewhat effective weapon. She spent some of her time infecting the Collective with early 21st Century human memes. 10 Borg Cubes and 2 Unicomplexes were destroyed as a result which has been her greatest triumph during her off time. Klingon Opera just destroyed a Borg Sphere. On her non-destructive days, she tries to develop individuality viruses with mixed results. Some drones have escaped, but others start singing show tunes for some unknown reason. Those drones don't last long, but death is always preferable to remaining as a drone. The problem is developing a virus with a very low borg adaption rate or infecting the collective all at once. Destroying a Cube is easy, but the Borg always adapt to it eventually. The human memes had a very low borg adaption rate which is why it did so well.

Captain Elijah B. Lowe of the U.S.S. Sierra likes to play a Holodeck role playing game called Starships & Supernovas, a modernized historic based game in the vein of an old Earth game called Dungeons and Dragons. His favorite scenario is The Five Captains, a game where he and four randomly generated Starship captains command an armada to defeat a full scale invasion from an allied Romulan, Gorn, Klingon and Borg coalition. He also enjoys reading old Earth style comic books and his model starship collection. His current model: U.S.S Avenger, NCC-91273.

Klingon General K'Plai, Daughter of Rogh, of House Onnak enjoys her off duty hours by participating in the on board fight club her crew members have established in the deeper bowels of the I.K.S. Burgoth. She is the current five time champion and one half of the fight club's tag team champion team with her recently liberated Borg sister, Marla, Daughter of Rogh, of House Onnak. When she's not pummeling her crewmen senseless, she enjoys a nice plate of Gagh and a glorious battle against her enemies.

Romulan Vice Admiral D'Vox Riuurran spends his off duty hours recruiting fellow Romulans into his secret new Romulan Empire project. A firm believer in the old ways, he enjoys oppressing his enemies, destroying starships and claiming worlds in his name. His work in manipulating the Federation and Klingon Defense Force into constant skirmishes is just one aspect of many in his bid to rule the universe with an iron fist. He also enjoys a nice cup of a human beverage called hot cocoa and Romulan classical music.

Hitting the few that I've thought this out for right off hand...

Orion slaver and Klingon Intelligence affiliate Elthora Mendali largely spends her off-time reading. She particularly enjoys the twists of Romulan dramas and has a soft spot for Human fantasy epics, Lord of the Rings among her favorites. Occasionally, however, she'll enjoy the, erm, "company" of her frontman Zizot... and her bodyguard Gehl... and her chief science officer Zovne... or some combination of the three. Ahem.

Romulan Republic Commander Vikael is a musician, preferring the closest Romulan equivalent to heavy metal. She has recently started discovering Earth bands she enjoys and is learning both Romulan and Earth guitars. She keeps this from her crew, however, and is somewhat embarrassed by her almost fangirlish collection of metal paraphenalia, keeping most of it at her place of residence on New Romulus with only her guitars and music files on the RRW Renovamen.

Captain Endraea "Ender" Pritchard is an artist and athlete. Through her art she deals with the trauma of her previous assimilation, serving the dual purpose of being a way to express her emotions as being a giant "f*ck you" to the emotionless Collective by expressing herself at all. Her sport of choice is Parrises squares. She's not all that good but enjoys the game very much, following the tournament scene when she can.

My Federation crew? They do holodeck performances of Whose line is it anyway?, along with holographic Colin Mochrie, holographic Ryan Stiles, and holographic Wayne Brady.

My Romulan crew? They have a nice cinema on my D'Deridex where they watch old romulan movies and reminice on days long past.

My Klingon crew? My captain is a big game hunter. His entire purpose is to hunt the most dangerous game the universe has to offer. So he and his bridge crew often embark on alien worlds to bag the most dangerous creature that live there and take it back as a trophy. Depending on the physiology of said alien they typically cook it and eat it, and/or skin it.

Off time?? Have you seen the number of tasks that get front-loaded once you hit Vice Admiral? I've got Breen on the Deferi front, D'vat keeps telling me they need me back out at Gamma Orionis, the Romulans want me to explore this Dyson shell they've found - I haven't got time to scratch!

Have you considered Denobulans? Sure, they have that pesky 6-day hibernation each year, but the rest of the time they need only a little sleep. And rumor has it that the hibernation can be reduced to a minimum of 2 days.
