Lag when joining

Right when I get into the game, after selecting my character, for a second or two it'll be fine. But then the lag is completely unbearable, only a few frames. Is anyone else having this issue or is there a way to solve it. If I'm able to get to a different map then it seems to fix it. But if I try to transwarp the client stops responding. This has just happened with season 8, and the most recent patch did not fix this.

what do you have running on your computer at the same time as STO,

is it the only program on.

Also are your java, adobe etc up to date?

- while in game
have your tried turning down your graphics
-turn off game sound/music.
-turn off special effects.

--if you are having problems with the game still please upload a copy of the dxdiag from your system ot here and I'll take a look.

I've changed nothing from before or after the season 8 patch. Just have STO, Steam, and Teamspeak. Everything's updated. Though it took me awhile I tried turning down the graphics and things but none of it worked.
Also, since the latest "patch", I'm crashing whenever I alt-tab.

please open command prompt and perform a tracert to 208.95.186.32

also please double check your graphics card drivers and check in the device list make sure it's not disabled or have a yellow flag. Normally what you describe crashing when u alt-tab is something to do with the graphics card or the computer being over worked.

also please check the amount of free swap space you have the STO installation installed on.

Same issue. FPS drops to 5 or less for the first minute or so after loading. Everything is up to date, I've cleared most other stuff that's running in the background. Only game I have this issue with is STO.

I figure they'll sort the issue out eventually. One of the 9 Nvidia cards here.

I have not been able to logg in since the last maintnence I have windows xp and don't know whats going on I like playing S T O but haven't been able to I hope this problem gets fixed with the maintinence comming up .

I have been having this exact same issue. It's only when I load in the first time on any character. I never had this happen before Season 8, and nothing has changed on my computer since. Everything is updated and such. It doesn't matter what character or where I'm at when I log in, it's always 5 to 10 seconds of massive frame rate issues, then everything normalizes.

Not sure what to do at this point, but wanted to voice that something does seem to have changed. Thankfully it only happens the first time I log in, but it's still rather annoying.

Beside the Packet losses before that give me rubberbanding and other lags, you can see that the cryptic server itself also increases packetlosses.

I have the exact same issue. as soon as I join, for couple of seconds everything runs as it should, but after that for a minimum 2-3mins I am unable to move my toon, everything slows down, and than after that everything is normal, It started after season 8. I thought the numerous patches since the launch of season 8 will fix it, but there is not even a mention of such an issue in the patch notes.
It only occurs the first time I log in, after those dreadful 2-3mins, everything runs fine. I tried running the game on the least possible graphic settings but no effect, even tried running in safe mode but I can not seem to get around this issue. I never run any other programs while playing STO.
Windows 7- 64bit
nVidia GTS 250
4GB Ram.
No issues with the internet either.
All drivers are updated.
