That's funny work on the starbase. How the heck can I do that when I can't grind dilithium. My favorite foundry missions are yet to be republished.
I know there are other ways to get dilithium but they bore me to tears.
Nifty little 40 mission series by a genius creator. Played the series 4 times and cant wait to go for #5.
can i guees DariusKoronikov.
if so. yeah they are great missions.
Ok it's been nearly 15 days now, How come it's taking so long to bring the foundry back up??
I am itching to build something, and i don't want to waste time doing it on test.

There's a couple bugs in the Foundry that need to be fixed, however there's more important bugs in STO that have taken higher priority
BTW I still have a bunch of missions that haven't been republished, when I went to bed last night all I had was Duritanium Man and The Great Escape. The Galaxy's Fair, Purity I and Bulk were no where to be seen. Can anyone confirm that the publishing is still going on?
I read the initial heads up that the foundry would be down after series 8 launched.
But it would seem that it still has not returned i know we got one update about a few slight issues with the re launch process for foundry missions but very little has been said since.
It seems that the foundry for sto has become less important to the cryptic team since very few of the fundamental improvements of the Neverwinter Foundry have been ported to sto.
Do the devs that deal with the foundry or who ever deals with this type of notification not feel it necessary to keep the community updated on this subject as they do most of the time with every other issue.
I find the foundry to be a very useful and as important as the other features of this game adn would appreciate being updated on its return or progress with the same gusto and hast aas all other updates are released in these forums.

I don't know if you know anything about programming or developing as a job. I want to remind you that STO is a bit older then NW with a bit more missions added as well.
Not to forget that Cryptic got the original codebase from Atari. Which means that they have a bunch of legacy code they have to maintain as well.
Since they have developed NW on their own (cryptic) they would probably used the lessons and best practices they learned from STO and put it to good use in NW. That's probably why it appears they do more and faster work with NW then with STO.
^^ Based on my own experiences concerning inherited/legacy & own made programs
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I thought Perpetual never got past the concept phase and everything in STO is all Cryptic.
As I understand it, Cryptic developed STO themselves, using the same engine they created for Champions Online. They didn't get the code from Atari (since they are a publisher and not a dev studio). Cryptic used to be owned by Atari, however, before being sold to Perfect World.
Its plain to me that the Foundry for STO has not been a priority for Cryptic in a long time. That's just how it is. They have many things in the game and finite resources and by and large they've decided to put those resources elsewhere. In real life I'm a business manager. I have a long list of things I'd like to do (and my staff and I are always coming up with more ideas), but not enough time and manpower to do them all. I have to prioritize. I have to look at all the things and say "OK staff, we are focusing on X." That means Y and Z get pushed down the list, not because I don't want to do them, but because I have determined that X has a higher priority.
The reason the NW Foundry gets the attention it does is because its a completely different set of devs with a completely different set of priorities (plus they may have an actual Foundry team, where STO definitely does not).
Now, we are getting some love right now. We just got the mission tagging system, although we can't use it till reviews are turned back on. A Follow Author function may be coming soon as well and Geko says his team is working porting over "a dozen or so" features from Neverwinter to be implemented before or around Season 9.

I'm sorry to say but the reality is they used us as guinea pigs. We gave feedback about what the Foundry was lacking and implemented that in NW, and then made no move to bring it to STO.
You can look at it from a business perspective or whatever, but I don't think the way the Foundry has been handled in STO is at all praiseworthy. We don't need a lot of things, just fix the bugs and make it so the tool actually works (missions can be found, etc.), but we don't even get that.
With the release of Season 8 next Tuesday, the team and I wanted to give you all a heads up on some Foundry-related items:
1) At the time Season 8 releases, the editing tool for the Foundry will be disabled as previous missions are republished -- we expect this editing downtime to last only a short while. Republishing will be an automatic process. The ability to play missions will remain available.
2) When we do bring up the editor, the ability to review will be temporarily disabled.
3) Foundry spotlighted missions will return once editing comes back up -- also, we will be delaying the next Spotlight on the Foundry for a couple weeks.
Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing all of your amazing missions built during Season 8 and beyond.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
So how much longer is it going to take Brandon?
Or has my unpublished mission been destroyed like
SoM 4 was last season and never republished because
of it?
Hoping re-publishing is not completed or I fear what I may find when the
editor comes back after seeing the programmers are too incompetent
to fix a destroyed map after an entire season ruining many authors hard work.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.
Why do I get the feeling this means it's a 2 month Foundry vacation?
