Oh, the horrible horrible LAG.

Greetings,
I play STO for quite a while, and recently I noticed lag no man ever seen before. I noticed similiar one during the launch of Legacy, but not of this scale.

I'm with ISP called "Telefonica O2", my internet speed is 10mbps, speedtests and packet loss tests and ping tests are fine, B+ mostly. I also ran trackert command to find out what is going on, and I found out that there was 100ms jump between my computer and modem.

BUT

Today I got a replacement modem, replacing my old because internet is very important to me since I work from home and this felt like a serious issue. I played some other MMO's (Namely Guild Wars 2, to do daily, The Old Republic to check if my items were sold and play a daily share of PvP, then one match of dota2), then I went back to STO to get my daily share of Omega marks. And the issue was still there like I didn't do a thing.

Oddly enough, when I played yesterday on still the broken modem, it was fine for a while (Central european time 11am-2pm), then it got to the point of unbearable lag again. I'm a little confused since until this week, this lag never happened to me, yeah, now and then a bit, or random loginfail, but not this.

Example: I'm trying to get KHG XII for my Ferasaan, science officer. I enter the misson and I freeze. I'm trying to move, with keys or with mouse, and I can't. Seconds after my ship goes on crazy seizure of flailing in space in a set spot, even though I increased my speed. If I try to shoot, only torpedo goes. If I try to launch fighters, they don't but cooldown applies.

So I went back and did tracert again, with these results:

Am I wrong to think this is ISP based problem, and not on my or STO's part?

It looks like the gateway to the Cogent Communication backbone is having some issues here... Besides complaining to your ISP, you should post these results in the Networking section of the PWE Tech Support site, so that they can apply some pressure on their end of the business relationship... http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/
