I was really upset last night when I came home from work and tried to log into the game and to see the same issue as last month do to a patch
Its almost as if time rolled back
Is it going to take a week again before issue resolved so people can log in again?
This reminds me of something one of my instructors told our class years ago about the difference between good programers and not so good programers
A good programer will double and triple check his work and then test multi times before releasing anything to main server
A not so good programer will check it then test it and disreguard feedback and release to main server
Enjoying Season Eight so far, although I have a feeling that the Dyson Sphere content will get a bit dull quite quickly. It's very impressive, the art team have done an incredible job with the interior of the sphere. One thing I, and others have noticed is that it feels somewhat dead with a lack of distinctive music and just feels fairly empty despite there being quite a lot to do.
Are there any exploration accolades for the Sphere like we had on New Romulus for climbing the waterfall etc. I really like to collect these so would like to know if they've got any hidden away in there.

I found one for going to the bottom of the pilotable area in the initial zone.

Yeah, within 2 hours I was pretty much over the whole "Dinosaurs with frikkin laser beams" thing. Okay we get it, we got trolled. Now where's the real Season 8?
Just did the new federation tutorial to check it out. O M G it is BEAUTIFUL, I just want to thank you so much Cryptic. I enjoyed it deeply, good attention to details, true trek feeling... amazing, cheers!
Also the new content looks magnificent! Entered the sphere and went around for the first missions... superb!!
I'm completely disappointed. The game still crash after Cryptic logo and the Devs do not see this as a high priority.
I find it strange how some people are having such difficulty getting into the game, other than two disconnects I've had absolutely no issues thus far. Could it be hardware related? Do you guys suffering connection woes use similar hardware etc? Either way I hope you get it sorted soon.

I hope they get it sorted out too, as I've had no problems with the game except for lag (yesterday shortly after release) and the 4-hour download. I'm not jumping in and doing everything in the sphere yet... Will wait 'till the weekend. I just got on last night to run a replay lobi mission and that was it... No crashes yet on either of my two (work computer, shhhh, don't tell, and the home computer)...

P.S. I understand frustration and anger, but I'm disappointed at the way some are behaving. They cry because the game crashes or cry because the release date gets pushed back. Patience goes a long way (I know I'm guilty of some frustration myself, so I'm not trying to be preachy here...)...

If the game was crashing because of unexpected consequences or unusual situations interacting causing such, then I would be understanding, but clearly this situation was avoidable; there has not been adequate testing before this update, and likewise with gameplay issues that exist and have not been fixed for a very, very long time, the priorities here have been 'money first, customer last'.
I like this game, but there is a lot wrong with it that could and should be fixable. Frankly, if I was running a company, this kind of thing would not happen either at all, or at least not to this extent, because I am value driven; quality first.
Quality first cuts down on errors which cuts down on the time and resources needed to correct them. But then evidently the values in place here means that there are few if any resources being used either in prevention of error or on corrections and fixes, either.
As much as I like this game, I loathe that, and I strongly suspect that if I do stop playing this game soon, it won't be because I can't log-in, but because of being fed-up with a Star Trek game, that despite the principles that Star Trek has, of being provided by people who evidently do not share them.
I've had a bit of lag and getting in takes a little longer than usual, but that's peanuts. On the other hand, we had a guy from our fleet DC twice during a Vault Ensnared earlier today, and the second time he never managed to get back in.
Changing the subject for a moment, any word from the devs on when we get the Foundry editor back? EDIT: Nvm, I see the other thread.

The reason People are "crying", as you put it, are doing so because they have paid for something promised, and then, never delivered. And this isn't a new or rarely occurring issue. Same nonsense happened @ the end of september/beginning of october. And I have heard similar from some who have been playing for years, saying this only started occuring after the franchise was sold to PWE.
Hold the phone!!!!!
I haven't got time to try this, got to go to work.....but
I had the same issue with the launch of Season 7 for like 3 days.....
If you have the Raptr App TURN IT OFF, this is what caused the crashing issue for me last time
I don't even know what that is, so I think I can conclude that it isn't on my PC and that it isn't the problem.
Seeing as the issue causing the crash at login is not known, I thought I would try to login after the latest maintenance to see if it was fixed by a happy accident, seeing as the maintenance was not (knowingly) supposed to resolve it.
It didn't. It still crashes.
Well, at least there is another crash report to work with.
I note from the now closed maintenance thread that someone assumed that this issue is not affecting many people. Mind you, they had an "I'm all right, Jack" attitude, as well as assuming that they were in a majority for whom this update is working and are not excluded from the game.
Is it though? Is it a minority? Well, whether it is or it isn't, whether it is a lot or a few, given that corporate image is evidently paramount (pun not intended), I doubt that we will get to know the true extent to which this problem has affected people's ability to play the game at all - an issue which because the presumptuous person in that thread assumed that they are in an unaffected majority, they did not therefore consider other people's inability to login and play the game at all, as a major issue.
Where's that Picard & Riker double facepalm link...
Honestly I have no idea what is going on. I jumped on Tuesday night to play a little bit, got to the sphere and of course looked around. Had to log off for the night and after the patch as soon as I beamed off the sphere to get to my ship it crashed. Hell the game is still crashing every time I get past the selection screen and it is loading.
Even though I have been able to play, I am not having all that much fun. I know Cryptic put in a lot of time and energy. I cannot thank Cryptic enough for what they have accomplished. I am just not having fun.
First, when I try to minimize the screen, the game gets permanently stuck. Regardless about what I do with the mouse, the ability to click on anything gets locked out. ...and, then the game becomes unresponsive.
Second, unlike how my escort moves on other maps, the Dyson maps makes it feel like a cruiser. I am getting a 9 point turn rate. When I am able to move my ship around quickly, I feel like I am accomplishing something. I think the ships are moving a little too slow.
Third, after I unlocked the first tier, I didn't see a nice variety of gear. You get to choose from a console, personal shield, or a 22,500 dilithium store console. No weapons, armors, etc... I was hoping to buy a neat weapon, so that I had a better tool for advancing. I do not feel as though leveling the system gives you anything helpful.
Fourth, once you transit into the Dyson Sphere, the game is not very clear about where to go. As a result of the unorganized nature of everything, I am having problems with finding daily missions. Unlike how New Romulus is organized, the Dyson Sphere space and ground maps are completely disorganized. I know I have to activate daily missions, but I do not know where to find them.
Fifth, although we get some neat cut screens, the motivation behind everything gets quickly lost. I do not feel any passion or motivation for the environment and story. I am running around like an idiot, fighting to control sections of the map, kill a few boss dinos, and then the system rests. I do not feel a sense of accomplishment.
Sixth, in order to play the ground puzzles solo, similar to Defera, the player has to be the only one in the instance. If more people show up on the instance, the ability to solo the environmental puzzles becomes gradually difficult. I thought we were told that we could solo the map puzzles. What happened?
Seventh, once a new player does arrive in an instance, the map difficulty automatically makes adjustments. While this is somewhat of an interesting idea, the problem arises when new players have a problem with finding everyone. I am always having a problem with finding other players, so I can race to give them a helping hand.
Eight, the layout of the ground maps are completely confusing. As a result of not having clear indicators, the environment sometimes hides the most efficient path to travel. Many players are running around in circles, for they cannot find the right path to follow.
Everything in Season Eight feels rushed and disorganized.
Why do you tease us with the featured mission, then release this tutorial TRIBBLE without anymore campaign missions, when will you release the campaign for season 8 like you promised and promoted ingame?
This isn't right, we play your game, and you bum out season 8, what are you trying to do get back at us for being devoted players?
Please release the season 8 campaign, instead of just the 1 in featured episodes, We don't want TRIBBLE, we love the game areas and etc., just WHERE IS THE NEW AND EXCITING CAMPAIGN that you promised us?
Do you even have one, or is this tutorial TRIBBLE it?
If you don't have one, Don't say it, Don't lie to your players, thats how you lose players, don't be like EA Games, be like the awesome people you actually are, you can do better than this TRIBBLE.
Now, go back and continue the campaign, and give us the one you promised, but you can leave the missions for the new areas, just get the rest of the featured episode's campaign.

For the Dailies just scan the area around you and follow where your sensors point it will direct you to a secion where a mission is. You can do all the section at the supply depot and/or around it. Also taking on voth ships will increase it as well.
Althougth the art work in the sphere is good after the rep system is complete I see little need to come back once I finish the story arc also I havent had a need to go to the other zone for dyson marks as I can get them all in the allied map

Think the Dyson Sphere rep and maps was the only thing for existing players but I admit the FEE is a little unfinished as it doesnt mention why the Voth want the Sphere. I say release some more of the FEE mission but leave Worf out of it this time. Although Worf was my favourite character in the show. Micheal Dorn no longer has the voice down. It sounded forced IMO

Greetings Captains! First, Sphere of Influence was a great featured episode. The "Sphere is doing well. However, we know the develpers are reading the threads so that planning for the expansion of STO Online will meet the demands of the fans. That being by Season 10 we should have an "Iconian War" across all quadrants.
Captains so the developers can get an idea of how to expand the game. What are you ideas about the storyline for the soon to be "Iconian War"? How will the Kingons and Romulans fit into the conflict? How will they be invaded? What impact will the war have on the New Republic vs. Tal Shiar. How would Selena and Admiral Taris fit in the storyline. Taris did break out of Facility 4208. The Klingon High Council will have to deal with the battle House Jempok & Duras vs. House Martok. Klingon/Federation Relations in link witht the war. How will The Dominion be used in the war friend or foe. Will Odo make a debut and what about the Alpha Quadrant great link? How will the Cardassians be used in the War? Can Garak be used possibly he was once a member of the Obsidian Order. What impact will the war have on Deep Space Nine, Bajor, and the Wormhole and Prophets. Could the Emissary help us win the battle? Will Kai Kaira help us?
What about the Borg, Breen, and Undine? How will we fight them in this great war? How will the Iconians use races from the Delta Quadrant?
What cannon characters would you like to see in the future from ST:TNG, DS9, or Voyager?
The war should be long like the Domionion War on DS9 season 4,5, 6, and 7.
In closing, Foundary Writiers this where you need to thave your voice heard as well.
