I'm not a drone to Cryptic and at least I can actually see when somebody or something is simply trying to manipulate me. The playerbase is the sad thing about this game.

Play it and have fun. And switch fantasy and imagination on and play a role, maybe?

Hehe.... yeah really. It's a computer game. If you're bored go massacre Voth for an hour or two. that should get you an adequate number of marks. :D

I guess senseless death with no element of story appeals to some people then. After all, when you can just kill everything, why bother with other things like diplomacy or exploration? Or actually developing meaningful new content if the drones are happy with just killing things indiscriminately. Really deep and meaningful and certain shows a lot for humanity as a species eh?

At least the Dyson Reputation is similar to the Romulan Reputation where you get a new cutscene for getting to each Tier unlike the Omega and Nukara Reputations. A lack of Tier missions is the main flaw for those Reputations IMO. It should be interesting if they actually have Tier missions as well for Tier 2 to 5.

It's only a grind if you don't think of it as having fun but as "Where is my Loot?"...

As I said, I LOVE playing the Ground Battle Zone... for me it's not a grind... it's a bunch of people having fun ripping that damn V-Rex apart :D
Hiding from those Swarmers, trying to get to the next enemy and show them that Starfleet is more than Vermin!

You need to let yourself get involved in it... if you just look at it from above... yes then stick to what you were doing before.

Taking down the Rex is fun indeed. Also, the consoles give a significant potential boost to science vessels. Cruiser command was Cruiser heaven, Dyson Sphere is science heaven.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I just got to thinking. I've got so many grinds currently going (nukara/fleet stuff, not to mention omega and romulus rep on other characters not done) that what are my priorities now when I login to STO? And the priority is not going to be The Sphere Dyson Reputation right now. I have many other reputations and things not yet complete on all my other characters. I haven't caught up to needing to do the Dyson reputation right now.

So that got me thinking, what else is the The Sphere useful for? I came to the conclusion the only thing it is really good for is grinding the Dyson Ruputation system. Yes, some storyline will unlock with the dyson rep, and DOFFs, but mainly it's all about getting dyson marks and commedations for grinding the rep system.

So, when I login to STO now, I won't be playing the Dyson stuff for quite a while, cause I got other rep and things to do.

It seems Season 8 The Sphere is really just all about grinding a new reputation and grinding a new fleet holding. /shrug What else is there to do with it?

    Shaka his eyes open.

It's not senseless. The Voth are trying to wipe out the Federation/Klingon/Romulan task force. Thus we fight to protect them.

Truthfully, the reason STO has less diplomacy than it does, is because in MMOs Diplomacy tends to be stuff like the Vulcan Diplomatic Daily. It involves reading a lot of text boxes, and solving some annoying puzzle. Shooting your enemies is simply more fun.

Actually no my dear, the Voth are trying to harnass the Omega Particle for a reason that we do not understand. Why? Because we haven't been told why? Have we tried to communicate... no.. despite Voyager being able to reason with the Voth beforehand before an out and out violent conflict.

The absolutely laughable thing is, if the "REAL" Voth and not this bastardised Cryptic nightmare version attacked the Sphere, the Federation/Klingons/Romulans would not stand a chance to their advanced technology which is HUNDREDS of years more developed then Starfleet. A few technological expansions because of some little spat with the Klingons is not really going to change that.

The problem is, the plot elements in STO usually make absolutely no sense because all Cryptic wants to do is sell stuff. For example, if the Tholians nitpicked the Wells class in lockboxes and stole all the technology. They are now in a position to control time and pretty much eradicate the Federation. Surely, even if that was not ridiculous, Starfleet would be more interested in that then the Voth in Delta Quadrant.

    The Federation have barged in somewhere they have no claim to and started making demands and orders... the problem is... Cryptic's version of the Federation (Not the real one) gets more like the modern day United States every day and its scary. Oh and the Romulan Republic is in no position to demand to keep or even control the gate because;

    1. The Romulan Republic is a former terrorist organization and the Star Empire STILL exists which means that the RR should not be officially recognized as a Galactic Power because its too politically unstable. This has been shown many times in Star Trek. The Marquis were not considered an independent sovereign nation were they?

    2. The Jouret System is in Federation space.

    3. Just two decades before, the Federation blew up an Iconian Gateway because the technology was too powerful for ANYONE to possess, especially an unstable Romulan former terrorist faction. The Federation would never have allowed the Romulan Republic to keep the gate in the first place. Had this actually been the "real" Federation and not "Cryptic's Federation"

Well to that "shooting is more fun" comment. I can only say one thing... "Simple things please simple..." you fill in the rest.

Amen.. Clearly mark has never watched the voth episode. I'm sure he'd be shocked to know that they were anti-violence. But that doesn't stop him from rushing into an apologist routine all over again.

I don't think many STO players have actually watched Star Trek in general or understood the message because so many people back and defend Cryptic and would probably sacrifice themselves if Star Trek: Online was to disappear tomorrow. I really fail to see what the draw is into this level of fanaticism myself.

I know.. I think I've read as many disappointed posts as I have otherwise. The only difference is that the disappointed posts seem to focus on how awry the theme has gotten whereas the promoters are a wish-wash group of crows who are more interested at anything shiny and new than they are about a quality product. They'll even go so far as to rely off their imaginations just to support their feelings of gravity.

    Kinda sad.

Bear in mind these 'crows' are what's keeping the servers up.

Yes but the number of crows is what is slowly declining. Remember when the Ark'if didn't sell well, Cryptic slapped a hanger on it to try and desperately sell it to people. It shows they are getting more and more desperate for money with each month. Either that or more and more greedy... one or the other.

They turned this crow into an owl..

"Whoo... Is responsible for this garbage?"

"Whoo... In their right mind would allow the feds to behave more like cavemen hunting dinos?"

    "Whoo...?"

    Ask a couple questions, have a whoo..t.

They're not Klingons but the Voth are quite happy to kill anyone who gets in their way.

You should watch the episode again, they had this thing for forcing people to "confess"......

    Yeah... anti-violence my ----!!!

Player: "I think you forgot all about the story and the Iconians ... you know the guys behind all the TRIBBLE going wrong with the universe."

Cryptic: "Shush. Get back to your grinds and spending on lock boxes:

Player: "But I am tired of grinds. I want more story and trek ... and canon ships.

Cryptic: "More grinds you said ... why of course. Nightmare STFs coming soon that award torqoise gear ... yeah you read it. Not purple but torqoise!"

Player: "Wtf? Didn't you read what I said. More story, trek and canon ships"

Cryptic: "We hear what we want to hear. Now back to the salt mines. But here is a free ship to cheer you up"

Player: "Omg thank you so much. And I can buy upgrades by grinding fleet holdings. Awesome sauce. Thanks!!!"

    Cryptic: "you're welcome. :D"

Thats funny, i remember the council being ruthless but not without what they believed was "mercy". They may be pompous but they are not murderers. The only reason that the council was so harsh was to get Gedrin to renounce the Distant Origin Thoery.

The Council's idea of mercy was not killing people and instead banishing them to a backwater colony world to live the rest of their life as second class citizens.....
