Winter event SPECULATION THREAD!

HA HA! FIRST! I SET IT UP!!!:D:cool:


I predict that our lovely Brandon will announce this years winter event ... don't tell me ... NEXT TUESDAY?!

And following that, awesome little details will start to emerge!

Aside from the obvious "I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SNOWBALLING, THE RACING, THE FESTIVE FUN!" , I honestly cannot wait for a new surprise. I am trusting you on this one Cryptic!

I speculate that Q will once again be involved!

    I speculate that they will push the new KDF ships in development further back in favor of a new ship for the winter event... :(

    And I challange you to a game of hard boiled egg roulette, as you seem to be (or at least clam to be) clairvoyant. Never the less, maybe the Tuesday after the Tuesday, after the Tuesday you predict will be the winter event kick off. Atleast, that is what I predict.

    the supposed season of giving as presents seldom count much on sto, also im looking for is what ship they plan on next.

    Honestly I'd be happy with having the Chell up for grabs again.

    As for the 'zone' it could be the same map as before, but I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated some of the summer event mechanics into it this time round.

    would rather not see the chel grett again even if i wanted one as it is, the past two rewards were two different ships from two different species that were once allied. i expect to see a 3rd different ship for another race. perhaps cardassian keldon class? that appears to be a cruiser/science ship according to sto. it would also be a perfect excuse to bring more spiral wave weapons into the game as well as cardassian boffs?

    I want the hologram of Professor James Moriarty to figure out he's been duped and returns with some sort of scheme.

    There's so much STO can use from the series, it could give us content for years to come.

    he could likely be apart of some featured episode for the feds exclusively one day, i doubt it would be enough for a winter event as its a plot too serious.

    That's what I'd imagine, too. Probably the same zone, same minigames and the whole reward system tailored like the summer event. Winter Epohhs perhaps with multiple factions and the ship(s) moved into the rep system. In addition to that maybe a Romulan and a 2013 winter scarf.

    IIRC, I read that one of the Devs mentioned in a podcast that there will be ships, so my guess is the Chel'Gret plus another Breen ship. Considering we had a cruiser (Ody/Kamarag/Ambassador), battlecruiser (Chel), escort (Risa) and carrier (Obelisk) as free ships so far, perhaps it'll be a true science vessel.

    I doubt we will see a Cardassian ship, given that the devs have stated that they regret ever doing the Cardassian lockbox, as this gives them a headache if they ever go about actually making a Cardassian faction.

    As for a new Breen ship, I doubt it. In my opnion, a Voth ship of some sort would make more sense, given that Season 8 just launched...

    would actually make even less sense considering how low the general opinion is with the Voth on STO. although i do read the occasional "wanting a dreadnaught".

    Geko confirmed a while ago that the Chel Grett will be back for this winter only, alongside a new ship. This is so the people who didn't get it last year before they moved to the event reputation way of doing things can start the project and get the ship through that.

    As for what the new ship will be, no clue. I somehow doubt it'll be Breen. Possibly Hirogen what with the storyline pushing us more toward the Delta Quadrant in earnest.

    I suspect it will probably be the same for the most part, do the race everyday for the ship.
    Hopefully the trick where you turn into a targ and do the race with no opponent still works lol.

    considering the severe differences between the first and second Winter events, I disagree.

    the first one had no snowball wars, sure it was fun and all, but it didn't have the same level of interactivity.

    Other changes:
    Boots became a permanent item
    PvP ice race was added
    new color of Nanopulse [Pur]
    snowguns were added
    new outfits
    winter Epohhs
    the pavilion didn't exist the first time and everyone had to rezone out of the event for bank access

    so yeah... But, I am really wondering what race of ship will be the new one. the first two events had ships from different races.

    Malon Garbage scow ... or Pakled Freighter (no real difference) both converted to... CARRIERS!
    Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

    oh that nice but some of us can not log on due to loading toon page keeps crashing on us so how we do event on Tuesday

    You start by waiting until the event exists. Then maybe in the weeks leading up to it, they can fix the login problems. :P
