Was running with the fleet earlier today and me and another guy I normally PvP with ended up ahead of the others.
We got that part of the contested zone where like 30 voth ships + 2 dreads spawn, and his bug and my dhelan sat there taking the whole thing out ourselves
it took a while, but we did it. O_o
Yeah they tank like crazy, have the feedback pulse from hell, and use MUCHO MANY sci and tac skills (i seriously lold when one used APD 3 along with tac team while it had me in a gravity well)
They arent OP, they just require a different mindset. Dex and I started using a PvP mentality and it went smooth as silk from there, I was even calling my subnukes on TS XD

please I am seriously mediocre in STO, close to noob even, I play but ten fifteen hours per week, but even I breesed through... Myself and one other killed a Voth cityhip with ease...
The "Invasion" of the contested zone is where I run into problems.
I can tear through everything else with very little problem.
Heck even during the invasion I take out the escorting vessels as support craft in a minute or so (What? there's a lot of them).
It's those big ships. They don't kill me, they don't do enough damage to do that. But like I said their shields never move, and yes I focus on one facing and ease up when the reflective thing goes up.
Still, taking one of these things down to 90% and it taking upwards of five minutes just for that simply because their shields NEVER budge is a bit off.
If I saw their shields redistributing or SOMETHING that would be fine. But there is literally NOTHING as far as a shield damage indicator.
I recall this was a bug with the larger Elachi ships too when LoR went live.
Overall difficulty is not a problem, it's just this one thing that gets me (Well, this and the PC faces looking like silly putty thing).
When people will understand that ELITE means: Come here with a good build and have good player skill.
People expect to enter a ELITE mission with a common build and survive well... come on... because of people like that they are nerfing everything in this game.

tbh the voth arnt that bad, they only thing that annoys me about them is the BFAW spam that makes my Fighters and Hyperplasma pointless, my fighters melt the instant i launch them, which is annoying, and being a vesta i kinda need my fighters to deliver the bulk of my Kinetic damage when GW3 is on Cooldown. but otherwise voth are fine, its just the damn BFAW A2B Voths, first the Tholians now the bloody Voth, me thinks cryptic caught on about A2B builds and have given the voth A2B.

I'd like to see Cryptic create solo missions that tests the player's survivability and DPS capabilities. They can then lock the elite missions until the player completes the test. Its basically an evolution of gearscore/item levels, except instead of an arbitrary number tied to gear, its content itself tied to the player.
Solo, unless you know what you are doing and have the gear for it, yes these ships are a pain in the posterior.
In a group, no worries, even with a pickup team.

lol, i swear these topics are amusing, every single one seems to attract forum warriors who feel the need to defend their "elite" content from the "dirty peasants".
content isn't hard, just annoying, you all said it yourselves, so why defend it?
That's strange... my Mobius with AP DHC's had no problem cutting through Voth. When they raised their directional shield, I simply circled around it and struck the enemy ship's flanks.

i think the OP is refering to the dread, or at least i hope so, because its the only ship whose shields won't drop.
The larger ships also have immunity shields they can throw up... this absolutely freezes any damage to their shield or hull.
Second, there is a bug right now that certain buffs/debuffs that should effect only the target are also impacting the caster... so it is possible in non-escort play, that a sci can debuff their abilities significantly, or grant extra abilities to the NPC's.
Particularly with the second issue... I think it is too early to tell if the Voth are OP or not... We need to give Cryptic a chance to correct whatever broke, so we can then face the Voth as we were supposed to.

My build is a combination elite fleet and max level rep.

Please do this, and please post videos again. I loved watching you guys take the CE in Tier 1 ships.
