It's a long weekend. Why would they release on a TUESDAY?!!?!

I think the bigger question is: Why wasn't there a "Tribble Testing Weekend" prior to this seasons launch?

Becasuse of the previous failures of launching new material during or upcoming on a weekend (like said ealier), that just doesn't work out.

Lesser people jumping on at the same time means less strain on the servers. Even the waiting line can cause trouble.
If by any chance something broke coming on to the main server, they have a chance to either fix it emediately and not creating a bad situation during prime time. Or patch it up during the thursday server downtime.

Sorry for my English skills today. Tired, headache and just doesn't care :)

But if none of this happens, and it all goes smoothly, what will we all complain about until we find all the new bugs after season 8 goes live? What will become of the DOOM! threads?
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

It couldn't be today, because I was at the Star Trek Convention in San Francisco.
It can't be tomorrow because that's Bagel/Donut day.
So. . . Tuesday it is!

Should be today then. The taco man lives on a Taco diet only. No bagels/donuts allowed.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

This is the most prudent approach. The weekdays represent the time for disasters, while the weekend goes into the area of a more genuine catastrophe. Relatively speaking. Since this is all about bits and bytes, and brain chemistry gone awry. Nobody will be hurt. Physically. :P

Rule #1 when you develop software: NEVER EVER, under NO circumstance release updates up to, or during a weekend, when people usually have time off, and you have to pay more extra for overtime, than you already do.

Cryptic did this alot in the beginning and they payed for it, dearly.

    Luckily they've learned.

not to mention during the week at least they got devs on hand incase the patch breaks something major.

You enjoy that bagel and/or donut, Taco. (Seeing it there, that sentence just sounds weird.)

Tribble has been in testing for gold members for several weeks and at least two weeks for silver members. Not really a need for a "test weekend." I believe it was Gecko that said they tend to lose money when everyone is playing tribble instead of holodeck before these new releases.

But seriously, folks, us in the Foundry have way more reason to be irritated than the OP does. The editor will be down for at least two weeks (I could have easily used another week or two to finish "Bait and Switch, Part II"), and then we'll have to spend the next little while struggling to repair our missions after Craptic breaks them with all the bugs they'll introduce in the season premiere, on top of the huge pile of bugs that are still left from Legacy of Romulus half a year ago!

As much as I think it should be, today is not that much of a holiday. Also, considering my work "week" is Friday to Monday...
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

WHY would they pick this worthless day!?!? It's just in the middle of the week and will be doubley worse when the servers crash.

I love that they picked a Tuesday. I can dedicate 100% of my day to playing since I can't really play on weekends.

It was going to come out, but the pakleds cried as it had changes to the game. Which of course completely ruined their lives again. Unfortunately it took a few more days to mop up their tears. :(

    TWO WEEKS?

Estimate based on something Frost said. We should have it back by roughly Thanksgiving.

They release seasonal updates on Tuesdays so they have time for a major bugfix patch on Thursday or Friday (or both).

If they released an update like this on Thursday or Friday, they'd have to work through a weekend (a holiday weekend, at that) in case something went wrong.

They needed to get all the tech support guys a weekend binge, so they are miserable enough already that the the Season 8 launch seems like a breeze :D

What makes tuesday more worthless than thursday?

An no... In fact it will be easier on the servers... For one, people are mostly at work, and they have 4 full days to get any server instability under control, before the weekend where the Devs MIGHT want a few days off, after several months of focused work on season 8.

It may be worthless to you, but its Win-Win for both the rest of us, and the Dev-team.
