Miranda Variant in Coliseum

solomonk1ngsolomonk1ng Member Posts: 35 Arc User
In the beginning of the Mission: Coliseum, you encounter a satellite in the middle of a debris field with various ship "corpses." I've played this episode at least 2 dozen times, and I never noticed this Miranda variant before.

I totally dig the configuration with the underside rollbar & pylons. If any devs are reading out there, can we get this as an option, maybe like for a Fleet Miranda? Or even a as another option for the starter version?

This is simply a regular Miranda, upside down, not a special variant.

Correct me if I'm wrong.... But isn't that just a wrecked standard configuration Miranda that is hanging in space upside down?:D

Personally, I was kinda hoping it was a Dev nod to the original configuration of the Reliant, where the Reliant was originally pitched upside down.

they said the same thing about the akira class and we had the nx-01 enterprise. a sovvie upside down flying looks like a snowmobile in space. i do not think the cryptic team would feel like extensively modifying the engine for more then 2.5 dimensions at this time.

The OP is not the 1st person to make this mistake:

    TV guide once did it.

and in the words of Picard:
...transmit another copy of Starfleet's ship recognition protocols... and tell them to read it this time.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

It happened in Voyger as well. Season 3, Episode 23 - Distant Origin, the one where the Voth were introduced. When the cityship warps in, it's one orientation, and in a subsequent shot, it is flipped upside down.

For those who don't know: the ship we know today was approved upside down.

What if... What if the mission is upside-down and the Miranda is the only one that realizes it? O_o

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Actually, a lot of ships look better upside-down. Even the galaxy (which I thought would look stupid) looks kind of cool. A few modifications and a second pair of nacelles down below and you'd have an awesome heavy cruiser variant for STO.

We do. We were asking for a T5 Miranda Refit for months. But Cryptic hates us and produces only stuff that makes them moar moneyz, so they won't listen. Expect a couple of Voth ships in the next lock box instead.
