seems when i disablwe the on Demand patching and save the launcher keeps crashing any thoughts on how to fix this cause i realy hate havin to wait 20 mins for files to patch when im in game
Having the same problem, and it's not limited to STO. Seeing it for Champions Online and Neverwinter as well. Anytime I disable On Demand Patching and save, it crashes out.
I tried changing the folder attributes to turn off Read Only, but that didn't work either.
Right now, I'm looking for a settings file I can change the option on. I think the User program control settings within Windows might be interfering with it. If not, a settings file withing the game folder itself might do it.
I got it to work. I was using ARC to launch. I went through the launcher for the game directly, and saved the option without crashing.
I changed the option before I logged in, and once I logged in, it started downloading the over 4 gig worth of files I hadn't downloaded yet. Not sure if it will still crash if I had logged in already.
My solution to this problem was that I installed Razor Game Booster and launched the game through it. Arc doesn't seem to launch and the launcher lets me disable on-demand patching.
When I used the Arc route it crashed on saving the option.
I have my Razor profile setup to disable Arc while playing as well as other programs to squeeze as much out of my lap top as possible.
