if your team lets the stack count go up too much you will get high dmg output from the ce. That just means your team failed to play the mission as it is intended - as in not getting hit by too many fragments

Thats just it I was stripping the stack so it shouldn't have mattered. TBR, GW, Tykens, in sequence over and over again. Thats why I wonder if there's something buggy in the code, where the indicator was gone but stuff was stacking anyways.

Yeah I wonder about that too. I've seen situations where it had a truly INSANE stack size and I have no idea how it got that high. I don't remember seeing it get enough small shards to account for that big a stack.
Cryptic you SERIOUSLY need to tone down the CCE attacks. For a TETRYON damage beam, they're doing 50K in 5 rapid fire consecutive hits. When you only barely have 40K hull you run through every hull heal you have, and then die inside seconds.
And how about when you just come into 10k firing range with FULL SHIELDS and FULL HULL and instantly before you can hit "Rapid Fire" you're at 50% hull THROUGH FULL SHIELDS???? It's tetryon! It should weaken shields more than hull! We're talking MACO XII shields here, to boot!
Seriously, tone this TRIBBLE down! You have no concept of gameplay or balance. This is evident in all your past changes where you think just making things monolithically unstoppable is how you ramp up difficulty. That's not how it works. It makes things bad. People stop playing them when they're bad.
No ego stroking from the people saying "I don't have that problem" because I see 42000 hull point CRUISERS going down in mere seconds next to me. You say that and I'll know you're just a liar or a troll. it's happening every time, repeatably. One hit, POP, down to 50% hull through full shields, I evasive back out of range (because I only just got INTO range, so I only have a second and I'm free), heal up, get ready, go back in full shields, EPTS running, full shield power and instantly as soon as I'm back inside 10.0 distance POP hull at 50% again.
This nonsense must stop. It SEEMS to be happening far more frequently in the past half week than before, and I've been running CCE on 4 alts multiple times every day since this event began. I promise you once the rewards stop nothing will make me ever want to play it again.
Not in its current Cryptic-quality state of affairs.
Maybe you should start running some hull resists also?
I am doing the Event in a Sci ship and i am fine. And if i am not doing the elite version i even stray in range of the aoe, cause it is not really an issue if i am buffed up. I just get killed when i don' t pay attention to the fragments. But otherwise CE is normaly a easy mission and you can stay in range.
But well, it kinda reminds me on the one Romulan npc ship (don't remember the name) we once had in the game, that was a bit more difficult to beat, the "it is to difficult" whining started instantly....
Sometimes i get the feeling as soon as not every ppl with the worst build and equipment can faceroll a mission, the complaining threads popping up.
I use to wonder about that too, since my energy siphon/tachyon seemed to have no effect. But someone pointed out to me that those abilities remove only 5 stacks at a time upon activation. The stacking will resume where it left off if your teammates continue getting hit by fragments. So one captain's buff stripping abilities might not be enough.
I am using Advanced Delta Flyer Hangar Pets to strip the buff. Works fine imo. Has the nice efffect that you have multiple Tachyon Beams at once. :-)

Are we talking about Elite??? Because Normal is a complete yawn.. Easy shards, Elite is a challenge but I have yet to die. Yes the CE's beam is impressive but a good tanky cruiser can take the beating well..
if you don't know how to play don't come on the forum to qq about how hard is this game... stop qq around here and start to read some tips and tricks about builds and gameplay. stop playing it how you think is right and go for others opinions, obviously your way sucks and is not working.
this game is so easy that you can do it with blue mk x or mk xi gear... so the qq should be about this and to make the game harder and more challenger!

ah, yes, I remember the D'Deridex Defender. Those were fun to fight. They were balanced to be the boss in a mission meant to be played with 5 players in shuttles. Tough to beat solo, but very doable.

Be interesting to see those again. I'd been playing two weeks when I encountered one way back then, and based on the mission story (Romulans experimenting with Borg tech!), I thought it was a scripted boss fight, some kind of puzzle boss where you 'shoot the glowy bit' or whatever to make the healing stop so you can kill it. Couldn't figure the puzzle out and so made my first forum post asking what the trick to my stalemate was. Promptly had several prominent individuals screaming at me about QQing or some such, which left me puzzled since I was just asking about what I thought was a boss fight. Never questions or critical analysis, just instantly assuming the worst about my original post, reflexively behaving like obnoxious children that someone might dare not know as much as they did.
Surely you're not equating the characterization of your first post in this forum to the OP of this thread.
No, his was definitely angrier. Even so, if someone experiencing frustration with the game, whether simply confused or ticked off and frustrated or whatever, it does nothing for anyone to be that person who posts 'Aww quit your QQing and shaddup!' On the other hand if we do something useful, like share the tricks we know that even other veterans weren't aware of, everyone gets better and the game has room to play rougher. After all, who's going to be calling for nerfs once they know how to steamroll something that one stumped them?
all you need is pair of delta fliers and the entity is never gonna get any dmg boost... also you might be dieng cuz youre not redirecting your shield power, derp
Say the word, it saves the world. CUUCUUMBEER!"-With slight partigen with it." Proud member or DPS-800"-We kill dem mines with our scitter turrets."

we do share the tricks you know? the forum is full of tips and tricks but the search option won't go to the newbe's house and shout at him 'use me! use me!'
It wasn't just angrier. It was demanding and intransigent. It was preemptively hostile to anyone who would challenge its ill informed and unsupported assertions. It labelled anyone who would make such challenges as liars or trolls.
"Stop crying and learn to play", is a useful response to such a post.

Sadly, some things never change.
