Cytherians were weird.... they made Barclay go insane and hijack the Enterprise so that they could talk to the crew.
why couldn't Data or Geordi reverse engineer that propulsion system Barclay used?
I think it was a one-off device. Rather useless after one use. The Cytherians are smarter that way.. also Barclay loses all knowledge after. Don't forget that it would take decades to figure it out.. and like the brain, you might know how it works or what it's made of, missing one certain piece is all it takes to make it function.
They probably have some unique propulsion that way. Hehe
Medusans (so my helmsman stops warping into planets).
Also, Denobulans, Suliban, and all those Fed. species that we have seen a few times but never really got to know.
And Xindi!

My first character is a Coridan. I took an Alien, added subtle nose ridges and face mottling around then mouth and picked a colder greyer skin tone, and picked space and combat traits to represent centuries in space and civil wars and telekinesis as a very rare result of Vulcan influence. Every trek game I play has a Coridan, essentially fast talkers in fast ships with chronically corrupt governments. Pretty much Treks version of Corellia once I revive my laptop I can retrieve him.
When will the Yridians finally be added as a playable race? The Suliban?
Both the Suliban and Yridian are already in the game, and they both feature/focus within the Republic story. We've also already got Suliban Duty Officers (I am unsure if Yridian Duty Officers exist too).
The problem (for lack of a better word) is that the Republic story is set up around the Romulans and Reman. It doesn't exactly work from a Suliban or Yridian point of view, so (you'd think) the Devs would need to tweak the storyline if they ever planned on the Suliban and Yridian being playable.
That said, that doesn't stop them from showing up as Bridge Officers (though I wouldn't personally want a Yridian in my crew), a Suliban or two might just make the cut. I'd be surprised if we didn't see these additions before the next big update; if nothing else than to just expand the Republic a little more.
I find it very unlikely we'd see many more non humanoid races. Trek doesn't have that many of them as it is, and then there's the practicality of them in STO.
Thus far, the only non humanoid species we've got (at least those that are sentient and deemed a faction) are the Horta, Undine, Devidian (arguable), Founder, and Tholian ... and the Xindi Aquatic (doff only). The next big faction to come around is the Voth, and they're humanoid too.
Many people are still waiting for Cryptic to get the Caitian/Ferasan right.
I love Boslics! I've suggested them several times, with minimal support.
I would have to disagree with whoever said they should be KDF, they've shown no affiliation with them. That said, If I was given a choice, I would probably make them KDF if I was given the choice.
Ideally, they'd be universally available Boffs. Since they have no known ties to any faction. Although I doubt they'd do that for playable characters...
I have two Federation toons; an Andorian and a Saurian. I have two Klingon toons; a Klingon and a Ferasan, and obviously a Romulan. Now, if someone wanted to play as a Deltan, Vorta, Cardassian (etc) they have to use the alien tag, and a lot of people don't like using that cause it doesn't define their character very well. I understand why it is there, but (alike those other people) I don't like it.

That was me, and I only suggested KDF alignment because they (the Boslic) come across more as raiders/scavengers/traders, fairly similar to the Nausciaan.
They could link the Alien Species Naming to the Veteran System, giving a player the ability to make one race at the start and another every 100 days until they reach unlimited at 1000 days.
Maybe even make player created races available to others through some venue.

You mean like the Cytherian? I always thought that they came the closest to that -pun intended - degree..

I would just love to see all the KDF minor races get their own level 1-10/20 storylines. I don't like the this KDF=red federation TRIBBLE we have atm.

Deltans would be great, though I fear they'd pretty much be the FED version of Orions. I don't think Cryptic would invest in that.
How about "GOD" from star trek V *Chuckles*

They can just play straight humans then.
And probably switch to BSG Online.

I approve...
I would like to see this, although there aren't many in the shows... They would also pose a few problems, especially with Cut scenes and emotes.
How does a Tholian Dance?
I have to agree with this. My main KDF character is an Alien, and every single time I view her profile, I hate that line.
The obvious solution is to let people name their species, but that would lead to several other problems...
The day will not save them. And we own the night.

Not if there was a filter in place there wouldn't be.
