I regularly team with someone who uses the corvette full time on their fed toon. When running a KASE, they always take the probes from both gates by themselves.
I have one, though I'm not on that character very often, but even I have found it to be quite a dependable craft.
Also, didn't the Chel get hit with a bit of a nerf a while back?

No idea what you're talkign about. It looks fine to me. :P
The Corvette was a flop, big time. I only used mine for an hour or 2. Thankfully its becoming very rare so we don't have to get these in our groups to often. I doubt I will grind another one of these special event ships out or even bother to go to the winter or summer events at all anymore because of how junk this corvette was. Making an escort with bop hull but no cloak was a bad idea, also making it move and turn too fast makes it too hard for many to pilot.
The Breen Ship I still use sometimes as it has one of the better boff layouts for a NWS sci escort build.
Personally I like the Corvette, I ended up using it on my Fed Romulan Tac full time and I don't even miss losing out on battle cloak, LTC Eng+LT universal is a very potent boff setup on an Escort.

The low hull is offset by that very same speed (high defense all the time). It's very difficult to hit unless you stack holds onto it.
And the maneuvering difficulty can be offset by making it a beamscort.
I'm actually kind of glad whenever the current flavor-of-the-month ship starts to thin out and people go back to what they usually fly. Variety is good. A starbase's traffic pattern full of ______s is boring.
I used it but then parked it. I'm just not used to something that fast.
(Odyssey, D'Deridex, Bortasqu' - you can see why...)
Perhaps it would have been useful..... before they 'nerfed' the tour, but not now. Every player can only do the tour once, so what's the point in trying to finish it faster or more often if you cannot profit from it?

The Corvette doesn't go any faster at warp than anything else. Now, Oddy and Bortas have that special slipstream that lasts longer and are thus better for Tour.
Anyways, even with tour as a daily, doing it faster means you have more time to do other stuff in the game.
It definitely requires a certain mindset to fly. I've pretty much set mine up with a "guns forward" mindset, with two turrets and a minelauncher in the rear. Weapon power buffs and tachyon beam give you good burst damage for strafing runs. Theta radiation vents work well with the subspace wake generator, along with the mines and deployable weapon platforms. You can spread all kinds of mayhem, but hull plating consoles and threat reduction are highly recommended.
Disparage it if you will, but I love my "double barrel railgun"

Just because many lack the skill to fly the corvette doesn't mean it's a flop.
Maybe many on the federation side have become too reliant on their high hull strength and many on the Klingon side have become addicted on their cloaks.
The corvette is difficult to fly if you use one of the favorite escort builds (cannon set) because of its speed. The corvette is a superb bomber though and can easily hold its own against many of the C-store/fleet ships out there.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I never tried the 'vette yet because of the weak hull stats. Since they say it adds defense according to speed, equipping cannons is a big nono unless you are an ace pilot. Better to go with beams I think, since they can hit equally to all sides. Like that it is much easier to keep your speed up and fire at the target.
I will definitely fly it and the Chel Grett later on but I need more stuff to equip these ships. Also I don't have all those fancy Zen consoles that many use.
Tyr shall give me strength! For the glory of Tempus! I am the hands of Shar! Flames of Kossuth, protect me! Oghma, grant me knowledge! Lolth commands, and I obey!
I love my 'Vette. Fits my KDF tac perfectly with its BO layout. Straight-up cannon boat with a mix of fleet and nanite DHC's. I especially love when fedscorts think I'm an easy kill in PVP and end up being an easy kill for me. The Lt.C eng slot makes for good tanking abilities and the speed keeps those bugs from pounding on my shields.

To be honest, i gave up on the 'vette first time round because, quite frankly, it stumped me.
Just not sure how to fly it.
However, same thing happened to me when I tried to get the hang of BoPs first time round.
While I wouldn't claim nowadays to be anything more than an enthusiastic amateur in a BoP. I've come to appreciate it and love it for what it is.
The 'vette, it seems to me has a similar sort of learning curve.
I got one each for my Fed Sci-guy, my Klingon engineer and my Romulan Tac.
Like a real life 'vette, these ships are sitting in the hanger with a metaphorical tarpaulin over them waiting for me to get around to it.
And, I'm quite looking forward to when I finally do

Good pilot too.
