Risian Corvette

eazzieeazzie Member Posts: 4,222 Arc User
Is it just me, or has the Risian Corvette become a very short lived ship.

When the Chel Grett was given away during the last Winter event, they seemed to be around for a while, alot of players were using that ship.

With The Risian Corvette however, I have not seen one being used for weeks now.

Am I just not around in the ame areas as others using them, or was it a very short lived ship.

I think with year's Winter Event approaching, the ship give away this time round would need to be something that would have more appeal.

    Yup, I'd noticed the same.

You still see the odd Chel Grett knocking around, I flew mine for quite a while. It's a decent ship.

However, the corvette just seems not to have lasted the test of time.

It is wonderfully nippy, and I quite enjoyed flying it for the five minutes I did.....but there just aren't many places in the game where having the fastest ship means much.

Thing is though, I don't really mind.

I feel these summer/winter event ships are more of a toy than a tool. They're nice to have but far from essential.

    It's a sports car.

You take it out on a weekend drive once, maybe twice a month, when the weather's nice.

    It's not your daily driver.

I used it but then parked it. I'm just not used to something that fast.

(Odyssey, D'Deridex, Bortasqu' - you can see why...)

I am glad it just isn't me then. I too see the odd Chel Grett. I think with the Corvette having all that wonderful customisation and it's speed was it's only appeal. If we could have a ship this Winter that has the longevity of the Chel and the customisation of the Corvette then I think it would last.

I know they are freebie ships, They are like Birthday or Christmas gifts you want some mileage out of them. The Corvette I think didn't offer it. It is a good ship, but it's like yeah used it was ok, next please.

I'm still working on collecting parts to turn one of mine into the Ultimate Cheeseboat to tear through Ker'rat and PvP Qs for lulz.

    Nice load out.

I just haven't seen a Corvette for quite some time. Just like rinkster said too.

Not knocking the ship at all. I still have my Corvette, but just don't feel the need for it anymore. Will always keep hold of it though. Not much comes for free these days. (I know I had to work to get it)

It's a great ship. Nice load out, nice turn rate. It has just the right Boff slots for me.

Just wondering where they had all gone.

The only reason I ever got that Risa Yacht was just to say I have it. I have never once used it, not even so much as a weekend cruise around Risa. It simply sits in my inventory, exactly like the Chel Grett still does. I was on Risa anyway, so I might as well waste a minute or two for flying through holographic gates in the sky while I wait for the dance party.

I haven't flown any other ship since the day I got it. It's a great little thing. The only thing I have issues with is keeping my cannons aligned and actually killing a tank. Most 1v1 just end up in a stalemate......

Took mine out for a spin yesterday, fitted it as a tetryon boat with the Nukara weapons set and the rest a mix of tetryon DHC's and Turrets.
And to top it all off I threw on the whole Omega set for good measure.

I still see them in ESTFs pretty regularly. I am not using mine much but that is only because I am working on other ships.

It's probably the best frigate for fed engineers

Never got the corvette as didnt do the risian event enough to get it and did not like the look of it for my fed sci of KDF tac. However regarding the Breen ship IK still use it as my KDF main ship until I get the Fleet B'rel but waiting until the new content comes for that

I flew it for quite some time, but currently I've gone back to my Chel Grett.
It's not a bad ship, but i like flying my Chel Grett, Intrepid and Nova retrofit more.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

IMO it is better used on the Klingon side because they are lacking in the Escort department.

Reason why you don't see it a lot is that on Fed side people like their Starfleet Escorts more because Starfleet has some really nice Escorts. Same thing with Romulan side and their Tacitcal Warbirds.

OK, now I'm thinking of unpacking the 'vette and seeing what I can make of it.

Perhaps I didn't give it a big enough chance.

Having a wonderful ship to fly that suits you to a t is one thing.

But maybe there's value in challenging myself.

Most of the folks in my fleet who tried it couldn't handle controlling the speed. If it wasn't so fast, I expect there would be many more in use. Then there are also the people who decided not to get it since the stats don't look all that good, an issue that kept me from working for it on more than two characters.

After trying the ship, I love it! My JHAS is now in spacedock, and the corvette is my main. It's tanky, fast, and with the right captain, absolutely deadly. It's super fun, but so fast to control that I'll probably have permanent twitching in my arm after a few more months. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting it on more alts.

Use it as a Transphasic Torp Boat with a Dual Beam Bank fore. Transphasic Mines in the aft. It's great for strafing runs if you have a pack of them on your team.

That's just my opinion, though. It works for me.

    Yeah. The ship is great.
the reason I don't use it, is becasue I have recently turned into canonizing my ships.
So I have plenty to do. Maybe in a year time, I'll focus on the risian Corvette again.
-I just have to figure out what is the most canon weaponry of such a ship? Pressurized coconutgun?

Yeah, I've always felt that impulse modifier was a big mistake. It's really kinda ridiculous. The 2nd fastest ships in the game only have .22 impulse modifier, and the Corvette has .25

All Cryptic had to do to meet the 'fastest ship in the game' bit was to make the impulse modifier .225 or .23. It would allow plenty of speed tanking, and the thing wouldn't be flat-out ridiculous.

The speed makes it unique, something that has to be taken into consideration for a build. Otherwise it would be just another frigate/escort.

i agree it is fast but with beam arrays and turrets on it doubt the speed well be a problem lol

I greatly enjoy flying it, but find it too fragile to fly at reasonable speeds (~66% impulse) as I don't get the benefit of speed tanking, and the hull is so low.

I find it loses dps if I fly at max impulse as I am constantly flying past the target and needing to turn, meaning a good portion of the time only my turrets are dpsing the target.

Add to the above the lack of a 10th fleet console, and it's just slightly inferior to other ships I own, in spite of it's maneuverability.

The speed is both its biggest asset and drawback.
I have found the preferred tactic hit and run.

Either a DBB + torpedo set ( I like dual Trico + cluster) and dual tricobalt mine or transphasic mine + Cluster in the rear. It's a superb bomber.

You can use a cannon build, but it is difficult to stay on target because of the speed.
