All week (before and after maintenance) I have been getting unplayable amounts of lag starting around 2300 Central US time. I enter a planet, server not responding, I leave the planet, server not responding, try to warp to another zone, rubber band for 5 minutes before the warp button appears. Anyone else?
In STFs, standing there doing NOTHING. Server not responding, massive lag, you name it.
And normally my internet and machine run just fine.
Could be too much server traffic, as not only is the server running STO it is also running NeverWinter if i remember correctly.
Suffice it to say, it does make the game unplayable when you cannot do anything, and cannot even just stand there without getting lag and server not responding.
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!

I've noticed this too. It seems to affect me for just about half an hour, usually between 2200 and 0100 PDT. It's very irritating to get SNRd and DCd constantly while I'm trying to play at what is often the only time I can. The good news is that it does seem to clear up after 20-40mins.

Strange, I haven't had any problems at all playing STFs this evening, so theirs nothing wrong with the STO servers. The most likely cause for this issues would be localized ISP related network congestion problems...
Do you uses Verizon as an Internet provider. I know Verizon and a company an Internet routing company are at each other necks. I suggest finding a free trace route program and see where you are haveing packet loss. I have friend I play with that get routed through Boston and have major packet loss there. They have to create a private virtual network to connect.
I get the rubber banding sometimes, but the server not responding is caused by downloading new files, which i think you can turn off in the launcher some where...

I am a player in UK, and the times you mention correspond to lags I get over here. This usually however only happens to me on Tuesdays, no other day of the week seems to be effected at all. Again for me it usually lasts 40 minutes or so then clears up.

Seems like Tuesdays is when companies that use your ISP (or their Trans-Atlantic cable connections) for their weekly data backups...

I checked it out with my ISP and they confirmed that no it wasn't anything they were doing. I always check out all possibilities prior to submitting anything in relation to connectivity.
I am sure you would agree it is all to easy to lay blame with something that appears to be at fault when it could very well not be.
I have read too many times on here people having issues with STO and laying blame with PWE/Cryptic for the issues, then someone posts a fix, and the OP is like ohhh yeah that's fixed it. Thank you. Alot of the times issues lie with personal system configurations, and not the game. That is why (for me anyway) to explore every avenue.
A prime example of this, originally I had so many graphics issues with STO. The game in the beginning looked rubbish. I knew how to configure I would say 90% of the graphics, but some things just didn't look as they should do, so instead of blaming Cryptic for a game with rubbish graphics. I searched online for possible solutions, and hey presto my graphics are now ohhh so sweet.
Touch wood (touches head) I haven't actually had any disconnection, lag issues with STO now for about three or so weeks.
I just found it odd that the times (albeit not the day) seemed to correspond with time over here.
I patched yesterday afternoon and played with relatively good connection for about two hours then went to class. I came home around7 hours later and decided to jump on but never got past the Legacy of Romulus Flash. Ran a ping command on a few reliable addresses and averaged around 78ms round trips for all of them, but sto.perfectworld.com ran around 135ms with 25 and 50 percent packet losses. So I gave up and figured its part of my network and called it a night. Got on this morning and expereinced the same issue, ran the same addresses and got the same results.
Went looking through the FAQs and troubleshooting but I don't feel like any of it is pertinent to my issue, but I'm concerned that I may be missing something (which I full agree is possible). Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to further explore this before I turn in to that guy and cry foul on cryptic. Save me from being that guy.
So, turns out I didn't look hard enough but found this link. Can't say that it solves my issue but at least i have some more things to check. Thanks ya'll
I am able to play with no problem in my evening time (western europe) but when I try to come on during that hour or two window I get serious problems. Was peachy even then until about a week ago. Just seeing if its isolated to my area or if its a wider issue.
I get it now and again. I seem to get 'Server not responding' when map or instance changing. During actual gameplay I randomly get a little rubber banding but to be honest its when I first start the game up for 5 mins or so. After that its fine.
You could potentially go into your settings and set the game from 'Oooh pretty' to 'Fastest quality'. For me its about midway so the game looks good still but I get better FPS and since then as a direct result, less rubber banding. May just be coincidence however.
FPS and 'Server not responding' are completely independent and unrelated issues. So any potential linkage you may see are just coincidence... (though 'Server not responding' and lag/rubber-banding are related...)

The one thing that you could try is the 'Proxy' option in the launcher. By forcing the STO client to connect via a 'proxy' gateway, this will change the network 'path' through the Internet to the STO servers. And if the new path has less congestion, this can increase your STO connection reliability... (However, if the new path is just as congested, or even more so, it can make your symptoms just as bad or worse, so this is hit or miss... But it doesn't hurt to try as you can always change it back if necessary...)

ok I have top notch pc, 20 mb dl and 2 mb upload speed all over the usa. But in this game only I am having bad 1.5-3 second server lag. Examples
1. I chick on an itme in my ship and it delays for seconds until it appears in my imvatory.
2. in large fights ships that are all ready destroyed are still showing red marks on the mini map.
3. When I assign duty officers to take a mission , the mission still appears to be their to take it again.
4. When I try to buy an item on the exchange I caint because the exchange has not updated.
As much as we are spending server lag has got to be fixed....
all drivers are updated, etc all other games, wow gw2 ff etc run perfectly fine
