Having tested the Retrofit on Tribble, I'm really liking the Ar'kif variant of the Tactical warbirds. It's also a great thing to have the Ar'kif as an alternative to the D'Deridex, which I'm sure a lot of players are going to be happy to know.

    Those ships look awesome. :)

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Visually beautiful, and love having a smaller warbird. If I wasn't already in a Fleet Mogai, would certainly be picking these up.

It's a smart looking little ship, and a nice alternative to the larger vessels.

I hope there will be fleet version too.

I'm absolutely in love with the look of this bird. It's one of--if not--my favorite Cryptic-designed ships in the game. Can't wait to get one!

There will be fleet versions of both ships. The tooltip on the Ar'Kif's special console had fleet variants of both ships listed in its availability text.

I don't know if anyone else spotted this, but Ar'Kif is Kar'Fi with the letters rearranged. And that amuses me lol.

To be honest, i like the way they look so far, but after a bad experience with the Defiant/Sao Paulo stuff i really can't see buying this unless i can claim the Plasma quad cannons on my fed character. I like the look, i'm looking forward to hearing more about them as well as the plasma Quad cannons, but overall, giving cryptic money usually leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Please, please PLEASE, have some good news in the updates.

Tested them, pretty nice. But the blog states parts can be swapped in customization. Please add this to tribble so we can make sure there are no issues.

+1. sucks that we haven't been able to test that. kinda doubt it'll happen with the release this thursday most likely.

Tested them and gave feedback. Not really sure we needed a T5 version to be honest.

Only a T4 and Fleet version would suffice, as we already have 4 tactical warbirds at T5.

Nice to look at (beautiful ship design), but no imagination in the boff seating kills it for me.

Some of us don't want to spend 4 mods for it on different characters.

Are we going to get the option to exchange our DDs for this new ship if we want? I will start playing this if so;if not I'll just ignore it for now.

It's an essentially a skinner d'ridithau. So, if you don't like that, you won't like this.

LOL yeah I'm sure someone said paint it romulan and they will buy. At this point if its KDF usable for my klingon (absorbed races too) I'd take it over the fresh romulan paint.

The blog states there's an Ar'kif, Ar'kala refit and Ar'kif retrofit coming. That implies there's a 'free leveling' Tier 4 Ar'kif complementing the D'Deridex. That's probably a very good thing for new players (more experienced players won't really care for a Tier 4 ship, be it slow or not).

And the Boff seating is very nice on the retrofit, please keep it that way.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

you are correct. free and refit versions and a retrofit.

And devs have told us on the tribbles forums that the boff setup is final as it is on tribble.

Great, that's what STO needed, another Escort.

Cryptic, what about iconic STARFLEET ships like the Galaxy Class?
When will it be finally updated?
When will be able to fly that ship without being embarrassed about its laughably firepower and totally useless BOFF setup?

Because STARFLEET totally lacks attention in STO.
It's Star Trek Online. Not STARFLEET Online.

Romulans are in need of some new ships. The Galaxy needs to be reworked, no question. But not at the cost of Romulan variety in ships.

Btw, the Ar'kif and Ar'kala are really nice looking designs.

They look very nice, and impressive. I will have to consider getting one in the future. As my Romulan is Tactical base. And will really match up to her abilities. I'm glad to see the Romulans finally get a quad cannon to match the Fed and KDF.

It's a thread about the new Romulan ships. You are complaining, saying that they should rework the Galaxy.
Of course my conclusion was that should have happended instead of this new featured Warbird.

Excuse me if that is not the case.

People knew what they were buying.
Now look, I am with the faction calling for a rework of the Galaxy, but nobody is really entitled to get said rework.
Of course, nobody is entitled to get new Romulan ships, either - but truth to be told: Starfleet has by far the greates content, ship-vise.

Romulans need those ships more then the Feds need a reworked Galaxy.

Down to business: I think PWE/Cryptic are just selling a sh*t load of Romulan stuff. Warbirds will keep coming as long as they are making money. Going by the Scimi and the Tal Shiar Lock Box sells, that will be a long time.
It seems Romulans are the Devs new bread and butter.

Well they need more science ships. Roms have enough tactical ships already. I love the design but the ship is kinda meh in stats, boffs and consoles. Out of curiousity how does one actually get their hands on zen ships on tribble to test drive? So far all I can do is look at stats at ship requisition.

I belive, no one said Cryptic should stop working on Romulan stuff at once and start reworking old Starfleet ships they hate.
I am sure not everyone at Cryptic is working on Romulan things too, so both things could be done eventually. And honestly to rework one single ship won't take too much time IMO.

    @alopen
    What stats, BOFF and consoles?

    EDIT:

Just wanted to write the same. I got the Fleet Ha'feh lately but its size compared to it's turnrate is not my cup of tea. I never liked ships that tend to oversteer that much, especially if that ship is almost as massive as a Odyssey, lol.
What i would like to have is a medium sized Tactical focussed Cruiser with the same BOFF alyout as the Fleet Ha'feh, but a bit smaller with a turnrate of a science ship. (i'm probably the only one, lol)

We need a rom-sci full carrier - similar to the kdf kafi. Been waiting for it. Too many escorts to choose from... no point getting another escort... just because it looks different tbh.

I'm bored of escorts nowadays because there is only one tactic when flying escorts: point and shoot.
