Tbh i wanted a JHDC but i finally gave up they are way to expensive and not worth the effort id rather buy a scimitar for my dreadnaught needs.

The exchange is the place of over priced items and the prices on some things just keep climbing theres no practicle price cap on items so the prices will continue upward.

The devs should place a price cap on every item thats placed on the exchange like the JHDC a realistic price would be around 20-30m ec its expensive but not over the top price.

So far I've only acquired 37 Lobi crystals, after using 600 zen on lockboxes. I've also wasted 5,000,000 Energy Credits on buying Lockbox keys. Yes, I tried to earn enough Lobi Crystals to buy the ship instead of buying it from the Exchange.
Not trying to burst any bubbles here but 600 Zen is $6.00, and worth about 5 Keys. 5,000,000 EC is worth another 3 Keys. I'm not exactly certain what you expected out of 8 Keys but on average you need about 160 Keys to earn an 800 Lobi ship.

As far as simple math, earning 8k Dilithium per day for 30 days is 240,000 Dilithium. At roughly 120 Dilithum per Zen that's around 2,000 Zen in a month - and that's if you just do the normal amount with 1 character.

With around 2,000 Zen you can buy 20 Keys in 2 packs of 10. 20 Keys can be sold for 28-30 million ECs. Just doing that for about 3 months would get you your needed 90 million ECs.

So, you can sit around complaining about how it's impossible - and wishing someone would give you all the millions of ECs - or you can just spend 3 months earning them yourself using 1 character by playing 1-2 hours per day.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I'm a casual player of STO. So the most Dilithium I make per day is about 2,000. On the other hand I make about 750,000 Energy Credits each time I play because I also do one of the farming foundry missions to start.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

And what are you going to do when the farming Foundry missions are removed - as the farming Dilithium missions were? :)

And again, it only takes 1-2 hours a day to make your 8k in Dilithium. You can easily make 2k just doing the Foundry Spotlight mission in 15 minutes. You can earn another 1k just picking 20 Doff missions per day - and 2k more if you get Contraband. Dilithium is incredibly easy to earn, if you're willing to earn it - even by casual players. :)

I've not gone grinding for ships. For PvE, the standard ships work just fine. For a little more bang, just pick up something in the zen store. $25 will save a lot of grind time.

it's easy to net 500K+ with a character in a quick 5 minute run a day. Even more if your lucky to get a purple item to sell from the drops.

Just going to say, I've done all the most popular farms (bobo, 101, 102, grizz, etc), never once gotten more than 500k on a run. Yes I know to run in normal difficulty.

I still average 290k per run.

    EC Farming? Easy!

    1. Foundry: i.E. EC Farming DS9 by Luth
(just Search for "Luth" as Title, if you don't play in english, set the search filter to English)
you just need 1 run to get to cap (make sure you play in normal difficulty). Gives me 500-750k a day (per Character)

    2. DOFFs: Make sure you complete all nebula / extense chain missions and look for "Support ... Colonization Efforts" DOFF Missions afterwards. You get refugees, which you can send to "Aylum on ... Homeworld" Doff Missions, and if you crit, you get a purple officer, which is bound, but can be exchanged with the Kareema, Cardassia, Parada or Bajoran Exchange Programm (after completing other Chain Missions at the sectors around DS9) for an unbound (possibly purple) officer which can be sold afterwards... purple Officers give you 400k at least up to a few mil, depending on stats.

    3. Loot Farming:
Kerrat (as FED or KDF) or N'*** (as KDF Player) gives you a lot of loot if you get into a good instance. If you are lucky you get blue and purple MK XII Tact Consoles which sell from 200k to 30+ mil or things like Neutronium Alloys or Quantum Torpedos...

Grinding the purples down into commons to feed the starbase, then buying purples from any starbase whatsoever is much more effective as far as time is concerned. The exchange programs take quite a bit of time, after all.

    and another thing to emphasise:

The more characters you have, the easier it gets and the less ingame time you need for each EC or piece of dilithium ore.

    For example:

The first 3.000 - 4.000 dilithium ore each day are easy to do. You'll be able to get them from just turning in doff assignments you find in Sol/ESD/SFA and perhaps running the academy quiz. Ingame time invested so far: about 5 minutes.

Now the last part of those 8.000 are going to take up way much more ingame time, when compared to the first half.

So having two characters and reaching 4.000 dilithium each, will only take a small fraction of the time it takes to have a single character reach 8.000 dilithium. Same thing goes for EC. The first 500.000-1.000.000 per day are very, very easy to do on each character with barely any ingame time invested and it gets steeper after that.

It gets even more noticable when you add in things like doff assignments that have long cooldown or are rare. If nadorc is up and you only have a single character you only earn ~600k EC. If you have 10 chars it'll amount up to ~6 million EC.

From my experience, you either are lucky (lockbox ship, uber loot from pve...), grind like a slave a few weeks, or grind slowly for months.

I wanted the Wells (60-70m EC when I bought it), so I started to keep money to buy one. It took me about 3months. Selling the usual junk, some lucky drops in STF (few mil sales), and trading dil for zen, then for keys, then for EC.
STF are a slow but efficient casual EC grinding. They award dil, bnp/marks you can trade for more dil, and sometimes a good loot. The dil can be traded for zen and keys.

Also, don't try to be lucky with the box. I have around 900lobis (~200boxes), and no ship so far.

I've recently found the best way to grind dilithium is to do Borg STFs, and there's Omega Rep missions that use Omega Marks for 500 dil, and one that uses Borg nano-processors for 1000.

There's an STF, I think it's The Infected, that allows you to gain 11 Nano-processors if you finish it on elite with the optional objectives achieved. That's basically 2480 for one STF.

I don't know how efficient it is but I farm repair hulks in Ker'rat. You get 3 loot drops from each hulk, all mk xii and up to purple quality.

If you're lucky you can get a very rare mk xii tac console and make at least 10 million.

Of course you have to be prepared for the PvP side of it but that's part of the fun. :)

It's viable, same as minefield. Not something I like doing because of the randomness of it, but it works.

They already have. They placed a cap on the amount of loot available per day from the foundry. They might lower it, but I doubt it. You earn roughly the same amount from doing a Tau Dewa Sector Patrol. It's only like 300-500k EC and it's per-account not per-character. That's hardly anything really!

    70,00,00...that is 700,000, and not 70,000,000!

i sure hope the OP is frequently putting stuff on the exchange and miscalculating the zeros:D

Indeed, you can get an 11BNP drop on ANY stf, you don't need the optional for it. Don't quote me on this but I think you can even get that drop from normals, but I haven't run a normal in so long I can't confirm it.

I don't think you get BNP's from normals, but it's been a while for me as well aside from occasional accolade runs on a new toon. It is random 1, 6, or 11 for elites. You gotta ask yourself 1 question, do I feel lucky?

What should I do every day so that I earn 16k dil per day quickly?

1 foundry spotlight during event equals 3600 dilithium (2400 outside event), Daily STF mission equals 1600 dilithium, daily dilithium missions in eta eridani and defera space equal roughly 4k dilithium, mining during event equals 1500 dilithium, daily exploration/PVP equal 1500 dilithium, dailies on nimbus get you another 960 dilithium (if i'm not mistaken) and the list goes on.

Not even counting elite stf which brings in 960 dilithium + marks which can be exchanged for dilithium.

8k dilithium per character is very easy. Especially for a KDF since it has ample supply of contraband.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Also for KDF the PvP-dailies are a good way to grind dil. Killing 10 starfleet ships, completing three warzones, killing 50 NPC's net you 960(or was it 480, anyway) each and can be completed fairly fast in Ker'rat. Completing 3 Arenas or C&H's will net you 2880 dil a piece (Two missions for both, each giving 1440 dil) and doesn't take too long (esp with arenas, C&H's tend to drag on at times)

That's a quick way to hit the 8k a day cap for a KDF, and you get to do some Fed-ganking aswell.

Negotiate Additional Delivery of Rare Commodities. You'll find it in Cardassian/Bajoran (Beta, Alpha, Rolar, Zenas, etal) space after completing the Children's Toys assignment chain. It'll reward an unpowered artifact and has about a 4 day cooldown.

Edit: Mission inputs 3 shapeshifing lockets, 3 jovenite ores, with 2 DOffs (preferable traders and/or quartermasters).
