I think we should all get a new ability for all factions: Call in Noctis support.
We summon a salvage ship that cleans up for us...even if we leave the map....and dumps all the loot in our banks....we don't have to "take items" at all...
I can understand the frustration. I don't understand why loot can't automatically be placed in your inventory following the completion of an STF. I fail to see the need to have us fly /walk to a specific location in order to pick it up.
The part that bugs me is when you hit level 50 and you have about 1000 skill points left. Not enough to use on anything but enough to keep the "skill points" button flashing in the corner of my screen. There should be a way to turn this off.
Some of my toons I have been able to retrain and then use all of the skill points but for the ones that don't have free respecs it can get costly...
The reason that some of us players are to eager, to fast to push keys, click buttons, is because we have to do it so many times. An example from the last summer event.
The Horg'ah hunts starts a small button can be clicked to start the event. Then there is a pop up screen with a guy. We have the Horg?h hunt now do you want to start it .... Ahhh my God, I told you I want to do it, open the mission, the timer is running.
About missing loot. I like to do the Tau Dewa daily, shooting up ships, Romulan marks, nice drops. Anyway, I am in the middle of the fight and my inventory is full. Then a blue item drops. I think no worry, I'll finish the fight and then make some space in my inventory. So the fight ends after the last wave and I am flying arround picking up items. Right when I want to pick up the blue item, the screen pops up with the npc to tell me that I can leave the system or stay. I choose stay of course, but to my suprise, when the screen is gone, the blue item too is gone. It has happened twice to me. First I believed I didn't see it right, but when it happened a second time, I am sure there is a bug here.
the good thing about this whole experience OP is.... it probably won't happen to you again.
.
Probably will though. I've had the same problem in the past, but thought I had trained myself not to leave the match until I had said "gg" and picked up the loot. Just last night I forgot to pick up my loot from an ISE match. Aaaaarrrrghghghg!

The problem is, you don't even have to be clicking on it. I have had it happen several times..I am pressing F to collect my loot and the pop up...pops up..and leave map is what it selects. The only saving grace is I managed to not hit F again to finish loot collection(since I have to press F twice to collect loot) and so was able to decline to leave map. While I find this irritating, it is far less irritating than the stupid pop ups that occur in the middle of ground battle at the end of KA ground...I am fighting..being shot in the back from across the room..and stupid pop ups. Devs, do you really think this is a good time for me to stop and read?? Those are the pop ups I wish they would get rid of. If they have something important for me to read, make me go through it before the last shield drops, not in the middle of battle.
The best solution is not auto loot but have the same pop up that we all had in every story mission or system patrol except we dont need to click the square icon to the right of the title in the journal. Once the mission completes it should pop up with a congratulations text and a list of rewards and the button being collect rewards. This way at the end of every event you can review the reward and you know you collected it because hitting the button is the only way to remove the pop up window. never should exit be the first message you recieve even in story missions, reward first then exit.
this would be just about the perfect solution. players have complained that not picking up loot themselves makes it feel that the game is not rewarding them. having your reward pop-up in your face would certainly prevent that. (GW2 style )
there will always be afkers but giving us the option to kick them and invite a new player will benefit us more while doing missions and can't unintentionally "hurt" non-afking players.
this is a serious UI problem (the worst UI issue imho) that existed from launch day. STO is nearing its 4th anniversary and it's still not fixed. it pissing me of crypic isn't fixing serious issues like these.
crypic is always claiming that the greats thing about (working on) MMO games is that they keep on improving as time passes. well sometimes that means looking back at what you have been doing. decide what worked out and what didn't. use that information to lay out course for the future and fixing the old content to bring it to the current standard.
along this line i would still suggest that if crypic wants season 8 to be about end-game they should take a look about how the game has been rewarding the players for completing (end-game) content and develop a uniform and intuitive way of doing it from now on and apply this to all content that currently exists (including STFs).
THE NEW CRAFTING SYSTEM IS TERRA-BAD First of all it's not even a crafting system! It's just a dumb game system that's nothing more than a glorified slots machine.
second the "special items" you hope will be the saving the saving grace are messed up to.
Most people hate pop ups. Its automatic that we close out screens we do not want to see. Just unfortunate that you annoy easily when it comes to pop up. I am the same way. I lie the idea of having the loot form in a box in your inventory.

yep exactly the problem, you've done it a hundreds of times already. you become complacent and make a mistake. (that why most injuries occur at home)
it's still a software developers responsibility to prevent the users of their products making mistakes. so you must prevent as much as possible that misleading messages pop up. then it can still happen but when it does happen you fix it asap.
UI is the most important part of a game and ideally it's "invisible" (its there, you use it, it may even be pretty buy you are never paying attention to it because you don't have to; it just works the way you want) right now there is annoying flaw that makes it very "visable".

*STO*Its mission: To destroy strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations... and then kill them, to boldly annihilate what no one has annihilated before!
People are always in too much of a damned hurry to leave STFs and other public queue events. They rush right out, eager to mindlessly grind more missions.
Take a few seconds and make sure you do what you need to do. That's all it takes. Spamming the F button absentmindedly and expecting everything to land in your lap each time is lazy and inattentive. Clicking on buttons without thinking about it is also lazy an unattentive.
The only times I've left behind loot are either when I've not been paying attention, or have been slightly drunk. I learn from these experiences, and don't do it again.
Lastly, I laughed at the OP's description as STFs being amongst the 'more challenging missions'. Almost nothing in the PvE aspect of this game holds a candle to the challenges presented in PvP. So 'challenging' in this case is like saying 'this mission is less pathetically easy then the other missions, but is still pathetically easy'.

I salute your valiant attempt to derail this into a PvP vs PvE flamewar.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

you do know that being tiered can be worse then being dunk right?
still this topic isn't about QQ i lost my items but why after more than 3 years has this still not been fixed aaaaarrrhg...

The button should only activate after you collect the loot, pretty simple. I have done it before myself just left and realised after but what can you do after, nothing.
The loot should go into your inventory automatically like mark packs and the button should only be available AFTER that fact. This way people wont make mistakes and we all make 'em, well nearly all of us since looking at some post's there are a few people who are practically perfect in every way (they watch to many Mary Poppins reruns), but we cant all be like them (snobs)!

exactly, people make mistakes. even when you make this mistake 1% of the times you do an STF you'd still have this happen to you 10 times if you complete a 1000 STFs. It's annoying every time it happens. mostly because you can't do anything, there is no do it yourself option(like re-enter the map), GMs wont help you, you accept your losses and complain on the forums so it hopefully gets fixed and wont happen again. but whit the game running for nearly 4 years and even though there have been numerates complaints to GMs and on the forums (by myself and others), nothing has happend!
that's enough to make you pissed off....

It starts of on the right of my screen and then scoops over to the left to make place for the EXIT button.
I tend to transfix of the popups to appear on screen before i go looking for the loot button.
Pretty annoying indeed.
