support page is broken

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Unfortunately, for some players, there is an error with the support site and they will get a redirect error. As the team continues to investigate this error, please email in directly for support. Info here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=267893

Also, when you email them, let them know you are experiencing the redirect issue and they can resolve it manually for you.

    Cheers,

It affects some customers [like me :/], you can email support and ask them to fix it directly. However, I had tried for a while, got the point where I got 5 different responses that weren't actually getting closer to resolving the issue. And I gave up.

Two articles that explain what this issue is, the second being one possible way to ensure redirects do not happen again when using Firefox.

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4260028/what-causes-a-redirect-loop

and how to turn off all session.restore functions in Firefox

    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore

Hope that is of some use.

EDIT: For clarification I will note that I had this same issue when using another MMO's website a few years ago and the information in the second link is pretty much what I used to solve the issue.

Basically it seems that if you have cookies and session logging enabled, when you attempt to log in to a website it will look to see if you have an "active session", which if your browser is storing session and log in info, it will appear to. However, the log in session information will not match the one the website is expecting, so it will loop you back to the log in screen, where it will then check to see if you have an active session (without checking to see if it is in fact valid), thus kicking off the never ending loop.

By disabling the browsers session storage ability, the inaccurate data does not get kept once the page is closed, thus allowing a fresh and unhindered start when you re-open the page. The cause of this problem is well documented and is generally a fault with the actual website, rather than with your browser or PC.

So I submitted a ticket for that, and they told me it was not possible.

For some reason that doesn't surprise me one bit. I bet if you sent them an e-mail stating you you couldn't buy a $100 worth of Zen it would be possible to fix.

I am curious as to whether you attempted the solution I posted, and if so, was it successful?

Actually I tried using a private browsing window, which doesn't restore sessions, same error. I have also tried Chrome, both normal and incognito, the dreaded Internet Explorer on a different PC, and Silk on my Kindle Fire. All redirect improperly, except Silk, which says the page has been moved.

This has been an issue for me ever since I joined over a year ago. I've tried both Firefox and Chrome, but nada.

I did attempt it, and no. It wasn't, same problem all around.

Thanks anyway, was worth a shot.

And I can now add another browser to the list of failed ones. The Internal browser with Arc when you click the support link :(.

Error -310 when loading url [not posting the url, because it probably has encryped acct info in it].

I've sent support tickets about the redirect loop and it was not fixed.

It's been like this for a long time.

You almost think they do it deliberately to discourage support tickets :(

At this point, I am thinking that I just misunderstood Branflakes. The manual ticket resolution remark is probably more about whatever issue it is you need to contact support over, rather than specifically the inability to access the support website.
