How would you all feel about me running a Community Ker'rat PvP Event now that this fix is in? I already have a different event planned for this week's, but maybe a future one?
they may increase the cap, but u won't see an unlimited zone in this game.
Cryptic needs to do something. EVE is getting enormous publicity from nearly everywhere for that battle yesterday involving 4000+ players in PvP.
Is CCP technology so much better than Cryptic's technology that they can support 4000 concurrent in PvP and Cryptic zones cap out at 50?
Cryptic needs to step up and put the MM back into this game. Big fleets can't even put all their own members in a single zone anymore, even at Quarks bar, much less in PvP.

Short answer. Yes.
Long answer. LOL, crptic don't actually give a ****, just milking all the kirks out there with no real ambition or intention of doing anything interesting in the gaming world. If they had any intention otherwise, PvP wouldn't be in the sorry state it is now.

horses for courses, their rendering system is likely more suited to much higher numbers of objects from the ground up. not to mention eve ships are balanced by size/cost, sto's by the lolfest of the not fit for purpose, obsolete mmo trinity.
limits on the number of objects the renderer can deal with and concerns over players with weak hardware likely play a part in that.
possible issues with bandwidth on co-located pwe servers could be an issue too.
Things like map size and the (better imo) combat engine are baked into the engine and can not scale. But CCP have hundreds of employees working on eve, cryptic still have double digits iirc.
Looking at the EVE event, they had to slow the game down to 10% of normal in order for the servers to make the necessary calculations.
No estimate on the real cost to players, yet; but a much smaller event earlier in the year laid waste to about $15,000 in ships.
I wonder how everyone who plays here would feel if their ships were destroyed for good?

Sure.
Bring plenty of KDF players though, since Red Fed got taken away I'm left with a lack of people to fight!
Of course everyone who got their glory by spawn camping is angry at this change.
This. Lots of people don't like the new Ker'rat because it got rid of the large-scale spawncamp fights. I personally got tired of having to deal with it, especially since I'm a KDF player that tends to be outnumbered 2-3 to 1 most of the time I'm in Ker'rat.
There really aren't enough KDF players bothering with Ker'rat. I can't say I blame them, it usually offers about the same amount of rewards as arenas and C+H matches. The kill/die missions are doable in those areas, too. Some KDF like to loiter in Ker'rat taking potshots at Feddies until the queue pops.
The fact of the matter is this: I fly a BoP in PvP. I wouldn't consider myself in the top tier of PvPers, especially since I can't tank very well (due to the fact that it's a BoP and I'm personally not great shakes at tanking smoothly). I'm not really interested in making solo runs against JHASes, timeships, lobi ships, and other ships that clearly outclass the BoP in many respects. I'll make runs against cruisers, but there are some good cruiser captains out there who can both tank and dish out damage (especially DEM builds, good lord those hurt). If I have 1-2 reliable BoP wingmen working with me, I'd say we'd attack just about anything. . .and 1 escort is probably a match for two BoPs in a dogfight. BoPs are best in packs, out of necessity, though the best BoP pilots can successfully solo-run a lot more than I can.
Folks looking for a fight will usually fly "up" - and - tada, fighting will ensue. There might be one big battle going on - there might be 2-3 smaller battles going on.
Then again, there may be no battles going on up there. There might be fighting taking place down amongst the Borg.
Or there simply may not be any fighting going on...

If all fleets are invited I would be interested this truely sounds like a no BS event

I think it would depend on what you had planned for the event. Since Ker'rat is an Open PVP Area, running something as a "Community Event" in ker'rat can get Trolled easily by fleets that are... Annoyed.. at Cryptic and want to ruin the fun.
You think that your beta test was bad?

Wouldn't you need to fix the instance switching issue before holding events there?

This. And presumably, they'd want to expand the per-zone player cap. . .it's something like 12-15 people right now, I think. That's when Ker'rat stops putting people into the zone, anyways. We can't really test the capacity because the zone-switching is broken and we can't view the populations of the zones as well.

Kerrat instances are pretty small compared to social and "adventure zone" maps, you'd likely need to increase how many people can get into each one.

It's more PvP now. Spawncamping's not PvP.
