In thinking about it, I suppose it is a good thing that the Cryptic Error Handler closes as quickly as it does...because at this point, they probably would have gotten tired of reading all the expletives - and - I probably would have felt bad at a later point for having typed all of the expletives...so many expletive times now.

Thanks for the update. Appreciate it. Though I think I'm one of the few dozen people who don't encounter any problems, lol.

I still can't get over the levels of buttfrustration and how vehemently evil people in this game's community are.

Then you have "ALOT" to learn about STO and how things are run by this team...

Ahh, I thought all the crashes were because I'm using wine on linux. Glad to see that's not the case!

Can I humbly suggest that everyone who hates this game and simply plays it to ***** go find something more worthwhile to do with their time? That way, those of us who actually enjoy it will be free to do so in peace, and hey, without the added strain of: "OMG! WTF!? Craptic sux!!11!!" it might actually work a bit better.

Seriously, I'm actually amazed by some people's capacity for punishment; it bugs you so much, everything the development team does, yet you still come back almost as if you feel you deserve it. You don't. You really don't. Go and be free, complainers. :)

I used to think as you do... I'm at a point right now that I'm not going to say anything Cryptic already knows but at the same time I won't expect much from them either.

Now I know nothing about coding, programming or anything to do with computers... but I think that the solution would be this to all the issues Cryptic have:

If only there was SOME WAY to test the new codes/patches out. Maybe on a carbon copy of the game it is about to be uploaded to, if only there was some way that such a carbon copy of the game, with the exact same features, could be created that people could try first and say 'oh no, this part doesn't work, se we need to change that' before rolling out live. some kind of 'Test Server'?

Maybe I just live in cloud cuckoo land but that's what I would do...

I'm not crashing, so much as getting lots of disconnects.
I'm also getting server errors (408/409) from the web server, which doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

    Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Friday, July 19th, at 8AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for an emergency maintenance to apply a new patch that should resolve the crashes you have been experiencing. We expect this maintenance to last for 1.5 hours, and the test server may also be unavailable during this time.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

    - The Star Trek Online Team

Could you resize the scimitars while you're at it? In addition to turning like a brick they hinder other players in their free movement.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Romulan ships in general seem to have a giant invisible box around them that makes people stuck, even if they should be able to fly past.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Oh, the crashes. Great, I've been having some unusual crashes yesterday... at least 6-7. With some pauses, of course. :)

Seriously it's getting slightly annoying watching people complain about every little thing. Yes people are crashing but are you at all thinking it's being worked out as we speak and they are going to fix the problem with today's patch? I for one know that a few of the Devs also play the game so most likely they have also experianced the crashes. Please for the sake of everyone's sanity please stop the complaining. The game is not real life. And the ones that think it is need a check up from the neck up.

Please take some of the comments with a grain of salt :P . A whole bucket is good too...

Good luck with the update Bran & dev's, i know already my wife will be happy she get some attention again (with the inability to play STO). On the other hand.. i can work overtime  .

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

And precisely only being "one of the few dozen people" not affected makes your entire post unreasonable.
I still can't get over the levels of buttfrustration and how vehemently evil people in this game's community are.

    * I venture to guess ppl are frustrated because they see Cryptic not test their stuff properly. If any of the devs had even played the game for an hour or so, they would have experienced the same crashes.

    * I venture to guess ppl are frustrated because they see Cryptic release a mail-limiting new patch that was not needed for emergency reasons, and could have easily been tested, at their leasure, before releasing it.

    * I venture to guess ppl are frustrated because, on a whole. they see Cryptic work on new summer events, and Arc, and what not, whilst properly testing things is given a very low priority.

    * I venture to guess ppl are frustrated because this whole mail patch, in its entirety, was a hopelessly convoluted 'fix' to a problem that any sane person would have simply solved by adding a 'Select All' button to the mail; or simply by having you be able to select multiple items, Windoze-style, so items can simply be deleted that way.

    * I venture to guess ppl are frustrated because, in light of the above, people are getting upset for Cryptic rarely listening to what people actually want, and instead comes up with typical 'management' solutions that only make sense to the minds of, well, managers.

the game is full of bugs, major and minor ones

    - items which show wrong icons and wrong descriptions
    - items where the mk xi version is better than the mk xii version
    - consoles which randomly lock and can not be used after that (best example = the special odyssey consoles) which means that you randomly can not use the ships features anymore
(a bug that was reported many times over the past months)
    - missing textures of boffs ... especially on the special alien boffs
    - slow interface where every texture takes ages to load which turns switching from a fed char to a romulan or kdf one into a nightmare
    - cryptic starting an event which can not be played because cryptic has put a giant rock right on the mission target (was that actually fixed? - i lost patience and stopped playing)
    - crashes
    - lag
    - limiting game features
    - more bugs here, more bugs there
    - nukara tribbles (1 nukara mark... yay), was the last time i beta tested something (especially since the beta testing did not motivate cryptic to listen to the players and fix the bugs PRIOR the release)
    - the inability to create fleet uniforms for romulan players (oh cmon did nobody else notice that the fed and kdf uniforms for romulans are special ones that can not be used as fleet uniform -> spock would say "not logical" but apparently thats how cryptic works)

all cryptic seems to do lately is to throw out new (bugged) ships to raise the funds

    @cryptic
how about listening to the players... fixing the bugs and testing new stuff before you mess up everything
I am pretty sure that a higher quality and better communication with the players would motivate the players to stay loyal to the game and buy your ships sooner or later.
Wouldnt that be in your interest?

I rather have them do it in the morning when they are still sharp, than in the evening when you are battered by the whole day of work already behind you.

    Although that's my working experience.
Because if it's not effecting the majority of players, or a system that just cannot wait without the game blowing up, there is no reason to do a middle of the evening restart.
I assume Askray is a US citizen, since the EU people always have a restart in the evening :D . Must be something getting used to  .

Why do you always have to shut down the game when it is Tour the Universe? I need money and if I had a clip of Queen Latifah from Last Holiday slappin' her hands together and saying "Gimmie my money" I would put it here now.

Well, they seem to have "automatically and quickly patching what their untested patches inevitably TRIBBLE up" down to a science. ;)

Now if only they could become as skilled at testing the craptastic patches in the first place...
