We will not see the "standard" mine interior before we see the "upgraded" version.

That depends on where your fleet's priorities in investing Dilithium lay. If whoever is responsible for assigning fleet projects selects this project now, you will have it until it's completed or canceled (as well as the one the project after that). I know for my own Dilithium, I don't invest it into the Limited Time projects unless there are no other projects that will take it, so it could be some time before I get around to making a deposit toward a cosmetic upgrade for the mine. Progression projects take priority over cosmetic projects. YMMV

The project can be slotted and left alone. You guys can focus on building and eventually come back to it later when there is some spare dilithium.

Glad I'm taking a break from this game at this time because this would have really ticked me of as you can't even get inside the mine yet and for someone who seems to be a solo member of a fleet at the moment I rather level up before wasting my time on the junk that costs 200l dilithium and even after that I would rather spend dilithium on weapons and more important stuff than a roof that shows space which is something we can see most of the time in game anyway.

Also we don't spend a lot of time in these sections anyway
Fleet starbases were ok but every time you go into a pVE map and finish you have to reenter the starbase sector to get there.
Embassies I have not entered since completing Tier V romulus (haven't set foot on new romulus since either)
So this mine is probably going to be left unoccupied as well and a lot of smaller fleets will just ignore this since it neither helps them to do the projects anyway.

Does anyone have a screenshot of what this looks like from the beam-in point? I don't notice any change in the Mine's interior.

    Sure! :)

From the blog: Windows will open up on the second floor of the interior of your dilithium mine. It will also open up the ceiling between the first and second floors to provide a more open environment.

Here are some before and after pictures:

When does the 2nd floor open up? I was only ever aware of a first floor: the floor you beam into.

I do think the ceiling is opened up more, so perhaps it's just a matter of us reaching the 2nd floor to see most of the differences?

PS: Thanks in advance for the help! :D

EDIT 2: BTW...how in the world did you get the *exact* same location for your before and after screenshots? Trick of dev magic perhaps?

Access to the second floor may not be unlocked for your fleet yet.

    For the screens.... magic ;)

Magic...yeah, we'll leave it at that. lol. :)

But I've heard of a 2nd floor but never saw it as part of any notes...or maybe I didn't read in-depth enough. I thought there was only the space map (automatic), interior (Tier 1), and the Asteroid/exterior (Tier 2). Would 2nd floor be Tier 2 or 3 overall?

EDIT: And I see it in the Fleet holdings info. For some reason I couldn't remember seeing it on Tribble. It's Tier 3 overall.

If I may give some feedback...don't give a special upgrade whose progress can't be seen easily until it's about time for fleets to open that Tier. It kinda makes it feel like the 200k Dilithium was wasted until then. :(

Looks like it's actually T3 of the "Dilithium Mine" track -- just checked the in-game UI. It's my understanding that based on the projects we have lined up for the mine, it was a little more interesting to find the right order for these projects, and this one happens to unlock something you can see now, and something you'll see when you get the second floor unlocked.

    Cheers,

Are you able to share how many total special projects we can look forward to? I'm hoping to "budget" my dilithium accordingly.

Can we have it so that the first floor windows are opened as well as the second floor or have second floor access transferred to Tier 1 Dilithium Mine instead of Tier 3? I can see through the windows from the first floor, but only if I look at the right location and angle and I only see through a small portion of the window. It seems like a ripoff to fleets that we have to wait till Tier 3 Dilithium Mine since every other limited project had their cosmetic bonus immediately available after the project was completed. Also not every fleet will get to Tier 3 Dilithium Mine, but some will have unlocked this limited project.

Sorry, I have to say this feels like being given a a bit of the shaft.

We can't see the "starlight" we let in, until we unlock T3 (essentially complete) the Dilithium mine... and t his was the FIRST special project of the mine... the First project can only be seen (in its entirety) when you complete the dilithium mine.

    Wow.... just.... wow.

It would be good if the projects would get a disclaimer into the description / dev blog post if they aren't instant unlocks.

Please make no mistake :) They are definitely instant unlocks, it's just that the second floor is not accessible until T3 of the main track is completed -- also, you can see the ceiling change now. As mentioned in the blog, it did disclose that the windows were on the 2nd floor (and the in-game UI lists the second floor unlocking at T3):
Completing this project will add enhancements to your Fleet Dilithium Mine. Windows will open up on the second floor of the interior of your dilithium mine. It will also open up the ceiling between the first and second floors to provide a more open environment. This special project will be available from around 10AM PDT on June 20, 2013, until around when server maintenance starts on July 11, 2013 (or 7AM PDT - whichever is earlier).

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, it was an interesting puzzle to figure out the order for the projects, and this one happened to be first. I have passed along your (and other players') feedback on this so the team can take it into consideration for future holdings' project orders.

We apologize for any frustration this caused and look forward to you checking out the windows soon!

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

The second floor is unlocked when the Tier 3 Dilithium Mine upgrade is complete. I agree that they really should rethink the order the limited projects are done and have windows open for both floors. At least the Horta Miner and Dilithium Ore projects can be seen through the airlock window.
