Kirk collected antiques. Picard collected archeological pieces. Both collected rare books. Sisko collected baseball memorabilia. Janeway collected...um...hairstyles.

What do Caitian captains put on their shelves, desks, and walls?

Greetings, I am Thomas Caitian, aka CatStar, and I offer the readers of this forum the same oportunity to ask thier questions of thier old friend CatStar, as I offered on my website. Everyone who has Trekked up this mountain to seek an answer from this cat, will be offered one question. (Nothing dirty) No question will be considered too silly, but I cant guarantee the answer wont be. :3

I will answer all questions as soon as possible so check back often if yours hasent been answered yet.

I'll add my question to this thread for you: which is:

One of your crew's , little kittens decide to paint themselves with unwashable paint,... how does your crew member punish the kitten..... by:

    a) taking it's favorite ball of string away for a day? Or

    b) painting themself so the little kitten doesn't feel so bad? or

    c) any other answer you decide which isn't typed here ?

    :)

God Bless you and your kitty crew and take care.

Unfortunately this has already happened, since we all have to look perfect for the camera, his agent had to find him a new show to star in, so he was moved to Millennium City to fight crime as a hero named, 'Caitian America"

Are Caitians genetically-enhanced Ferasans, or is it the other way around?

Caitians and Ferisans are basically from the same species, with the only real difference being like the same situation you would have with the Vulcans and the ROmulans. Plus the Ferisans have been genetically enhanced for combat, making them a more primal species like their Klingon allies and deadlier. Where as Caitians are capable for a more passive and diplomatic enabling them to align to the Federation without any real issues in this coexistence. as for the superior of the two, it completely depends on their environments, you wouldnt place a Diplomat in a fighting arena, anymore then you would commission a barbarian to settle a peace negotiation.

My caitian CatStar, has seen to many diplomatic resolutions and created many allies during his time in the game, but my ferisan is the one i would use for pvps!

Cats need a new PR person. They seem to always be portrayed as stupid, crafty or evil. Every bad guy has a cat and every hero has a dog. Maybe you can be the spokeskitty for them to show how heroic and brave cats are.:D

I keep an assortment of cats for every occasion. Battlecat is my Ferisan, he is crafty and evil I even dressed him up as General M. Bison once (M for meow), Adventure Cat is my official lolcat...see his "Caitians Log" in the role play section of my website, for all his antics. Caitian Picard is for general fun roleplay and doing reviews, notice his ship says Enterprise and not Kittyprize like Adventure Cats. My Main cat is CatStar, he is and always been what I used to settle arguements, recruit new members, help players and people in our guild upon request. He is the official Caitian of IDIC and Guild Alliance, even having a custom badge on his IDIC signature made by our leader just for this honor. I choose a reagal look for his costume to resemble a mix of Captain Claw and Captain Nemo (LOEOG), even his avatar stands prowdly always looking up with confidence and honor...I like to joke and often do but when you see CatStar in game, you see a representative of our guild and the dedicated brotherhood it represents!

My image and name are special in STO, like I said before about having the title in my guild of Official Caitian, Ive done more with the Caitian then anyone else...had more fun, created more themes, told more jokes, more fiction, RP and applied the race in most things in the game then anyone even the Devs thought to, thats why when someone says "Cat" they are refering to me in STO, im hoping soon to earn the same for the Internet, since you can google my name easy enough. As soon as I get some more time, im wanting to eather film a series or write a cerial fiction for CatStar. When people hear my name, I want them to smile. =^.^=

Who knows, I may even sell a title as some point, but I prefer free entertainment so everyone can enjoy it!

CatStar... how do you deal with keeping your fur clean after having to fight with everything you have to survive? After all... we felines take pride in keeping our fur clean.

well, generaly since the sonic showers are not for the faint of heart (Clannad-Death Note ref.) My cats use the transporter pad for quick decontaminations, but being Captain of my own ship I have found it best to be pampered by civilian help, since CatStar is retired from star fleet (RP-CatStars history bio) he can hire out from anywhere the right people to suit his needs, he is after all well set in Latinum in his retirement years =^.^=

I believe the stereotype of dogs as manly and cats as feminine was started by women because they think men are slobbering stupid beasts who are easily controlled and distracted by toys, food and the scent of a female, while cats are intelligent, independent animals who are able to get anything they want by just rubbing against their human's leg and purring. Oh wait is that steak I smell? Steak, Startrek yeah yeah yeah happy happy drool drool.... Where was I?

And call me a mutant... but I actually enjoy real water showers. Just one of the perks of being in command. But yea... Sonic Showers are NOT plesant to those with sensitive ears. Besides... I can't see sound waves cleaning out barbecued Borg.

    For real, yeah the similarities are there, but man can contain thier primal instincts by choice, animals require training. Cats are simple and low maint. They just need attention and food, adoration from them is unconditional once those 2 needs are met. Human women...im not opening that can of worms ^^;

But both me and my cat have an agreement worked out, I scratch his ears and feed him, and he keeps critters out of my garden and mice out of my barn. He hasent let me down yet! I take time everyday to relax with a cat on my lap, and while hes being pampered, he will chatter, gurgle and purr...telling about all his troubles durring the day. Hes a good little buddy to have around after a long day.

If you were to be asked by TPTB to help them flesh out the Caitian species, to make them more than just a humanoid reference to cats (some might unkindly say "a visual gag"), what idea or handful of ideas might you suggest to downplay a steady stream of puns on cats, and make them more three dimensional in their species characteristics?

I think there should be more then one side to every theme, no matter the race or faction. You need your humor, like Nogg and Barkley, but you also need your strait men too like Picard and Spock. If there where to be a Star Trek canon crew of cats or more cat breeds humanoids mixed onto a ship, you would need a variety of personallities to make for the setting to seem legitament. Picture the crew of the Enterprise D as all caitians for a minute, with the same voices and personalities....it may seem funny at first, but once you got into the plot the characters would begin to have the depth and drama to make the scene.

Take my toon CatStar, dispite my humor from the cartoons I made, Im planning on writing a fictional adventure for him soon to post on deviant art, this will have some humor here and there, but it will also be an adventure/drama with struggles and character building. CatSTar will have a new side, the one I intended, it will be couragous, noble and steadfast offering a confident aura of wisdom for those around him. PLus he will be the only cat. The voice makes a difference too, if you add a brittish accent with a witty forward dialoge, it would be difficult to see even a cat as a comedy rellief especialy if the supporting cast were looking up to him like that cat captain on treasure planet. But for CatStar im going for a more older leonard nemoy, like from the movie David, as my toons RP is that hes an old retired Star fleet captain...infact the last one to command the enterprise E before it was retired along with him.

http://youtu.be/XHYEMlaf48s?t=8m34s <--Leonard Nimoys a good voice for CatStar

Having had both cats and dogs, I would say that there the trainability of both relates more to what they evolved from than from how smart they are. Personally, I'd put them both at about the same level. I've seen very smart cats (have one now that can turn light switches on and off and open doors on her own) and very smart dogs (had one that "rescued" the little girl next door's doll carriage before it rolled into the street). And I've seen not-so-smart examples of either.

Cats pretty much evolved from solitary rodent hunters. Dogs evolved from pack hunters. So dogs are used to having a social structure with a chain of command. Cats are used to operating independently. So, for a dog, it's a hop-skip-and-a jump to put you at the top of the pack. For cats, it's more about what they need. Not to say that cats don't establish a pecking order or social dominance or social niches.

I guess it still does come back to cats resemble women and dogs resemble men. Its still easier for a domesticated dogs master to train them because they have developed that willingness to follow and submit to, the person who has the treats.
