I hope that thalaron generator is balanced and arn't the Feds and KDF agaisnt this as a faction.
It takes quite a while to charge up, so it's not really suitable for PvP, Buffed with an Engineer using EPS Transfer and Tac Team it only took about half of a Tactical Escorts hull while he was buffing when I took it into a challenge match to test. So, it's not OP, you'd have to hold the target in a tractor, activate it, and hope someone else tractors them to keep em in place. Beyond that though, the radiation cloud does negligible damage from what I saw, though the radiation proc of a successful hit will do another 15k or so damage if not cleared.
That said I am disappointed in the interior, it's accurate, but it's just two rooms. It wouldn't have been hard to put a turbolift behind the door in the rear of the Thalaron room that leads to the other decks. I mean for 25-50 dollars? (75 if one at a time) it's not so much to ask to add that turbolift.
So I guess we'll be seeing a ton of people flying these now? This is one of the things that really makes this game lose a sense of immersion. It would be nice to think that the high end ships like Odyssey, Bortas and all those were harder to come by than just throwing money at the company or being thrown a new ship when you level up.
It would be great to have a sense of accomplishment when getting a better ship, so when you see someone flying a Galaxy, Ody, Scimitar or anything like that, you would think, "Wow they must have worked hard to get that".
Still, it looks like they are at least keeping these new ships balanced. I got to say that the ship does look very impressive, good job Cryptic.

you never know, they may have saved up dilithium for the Zen, there are people who do it.

Agreed.
The easy availability of new, powerful stuff is one of the contributing factors to the decline of this game and the reality that we're constantly burning through content; it's all paid for at the click of a button as opposed to earned. When they stop handing everything out at the price of a few hours work and start putting it at the end of meaningful content (read: not at the end of a menu grind), people will start to find value in their ownership and experience in STO.
Cool I'm sure many will be buying and trying them out. I won't get mine til I get up to level on my Romulan. So that will be a while from now. By then the newness will wear out. And many will go back to some other ship. Plus I have 2 other Romulan ships to buy first.

Dreadnought Warbirds look ridiculously massive. Someone transwarped right above my location, and I could not see the surrounding area. My whole screen got blocked.
When you compare these ships with d'deridex, they are way overpowerd.
They even turn better and are at least duble in size.
They are better in every way than d'deridex,
I am very disappointed, d'deridex is peace of s......t
yeah at these prices...how come we arent getting full Interiors. Vesta, odyssey, bortas packs all got full interiors....what gives?
No it didn't. Besta got no interior at all, just standard bridges. And honestly? One or two room bridges are better: No hiking around a map to get where you need to be. The harder they try, the dumber it looks.

I had my fed and kdf collect dilithium and convert to zen since the day they announced the romulan faction to about a week before the faction was released to get the 5000 zen i needed for the 3 pack scimitar. So I believe I earned mine with hard work.

I too have worked hard to get ships. And I'm not just talking about C-Store ships either. I'm talking about the ships that you get given when you rank up as well. I personally feel that the higher end ships, including the ones you get given at 40-50 shouldn't be just dropped in your lap or at least have the option to upgrade your existing ships through a proper upgrade system and not just go out and get a Fleet Ship or be able to throw money at Cryptic and get something easily.
It's that sense of immersion that get's lost when you see everybody flying all these top end ships, as well as other faction ships like the Galor & JHAS. But anyway, I'm not sure on the Scimitar. Sometimes I really miss the P2P model, as opposed to this micro transaction method.
I've heard some people mention there might be a fleet version of this ship, but haven't seen any hard evidence.
As I assumed would happen, wound up in an STF earlier that consisted of myself (sci, using a sci-orientated Vesta), a D'Deridex and three Scimitars.
As also assumed, at least one of those Scimitars was, judging by the unrepaired damage, owned by someone who thought that buying a $50 ship = instant 'I win'. He exploded. Often. The other two were.... okay, although I found myself throwing heals in their direction a few times.
On the flip-side, did a Fleet Alert not too long afterward - there was only one Scimitar in that one, and regardless of the fact that it was only the Tholians that spawned, he made short work of anything that crossed his path.
To be fair I suspect that, for the next few days/week at least, there'll be a lot of players who've only just purchased these ships and are testing them in various STF's etc, and I daresay that the STF I referred to was an example of this (with the exception of the player with lots of unrepaired damage, who had clearly used his at least once prior to said STF).
The adage that says 'it's not the ship, it's the player' definitely applied to those two scenarios.
You can buy the ships, but you can't buy skill.
Criticism, while never agreeable, is necessary. It is like pain in the body. It brings attention to an unhealthy state of things---Winston Churchill

Well they have to make money somehow. even if I'm not one of those people who put actual money in the game, i know there is a great need for the ones who do. I can still play the way I want and earn things. Though it puts me at a disadvantage since people cant just instantly buy what they want, just have to think of it as being the underdog having to overcome the challenges the other people give. Even if I were someone who put money in the game, i think its still better the micro transaction way since it should still be cheaper then paying monthly.
Al Rivera (I think it was him) said there wouldn't be a fleet odyssey since it already has fleet status with the 10th console. so since the scimitar is the same, i doubt they would make a fleet version.

I completely agree. I try to save up dilithium and try to avoid buying it. Micro transaction does seem to be the way to go. I just see a lot of great potential for this game which Cryptic seem to miss, but things are definitely better compared to original release.
But yeah, I'd be really surprised if they made a fleet version of the Scimitar, like you said.

Why so angry? I think its a great idea to have new ships for the people who want to buy them.

LOL nobody is angry :P - I got nothing against new ships. It's the process as to how we can acquire new ships that I have a problem with. It's nice to have a decent challenge sometimes, gives more a sense of accomplishment.

A Sad Panda of Industrial calibre. 2010: This is Cryptic PvP. Please hold the line, your call is very important to us...
Please don't read into something that isn't there and pick a small part out of what I said, please read it in full. How is asking for a challenge in a game that is rewarding, asking for bragging rights? Most MMO's follow this process for end game gear and aside from the grind menu, there isn't something I'd consider challenging. But some ships just shouldn't be so common in this game, it's where the immersion get's lost. It's nice to challenge yourself sometimes or at least have the option, and I remember from past MMO experience when I've seen some top gear that players had and working together to get the better equipment. It's that classic star trek ideology, working together to better ourselves.
I could care less what other people think about my ships and builds, but it's nice to have a system in place where there is some kind of recognition for hard work. I'm not saying everything in this game needs to be this way, as not everyone has huge amounts of free time, but it would be nice to bring a bit more diversity to this game to try and suit different play styles.
Like I've said before this game has come leaps and bounds and I hope Cryptic keep an open mind when it comes to future changes.

I think what you've said is completely true, ships need to be earnt because then the skill curve increases with the players. Giving such powerful ships to pure noobs effectively does nothing but give them a false sense of "I Win". I personally think that flying Fleet ships is more honorable then anything that comes out of the C-Store or dare I say it, the Lockbox ships.
The Lockbox ships should have been stealth nerfed a long time ago as soon as their lockboxes were removed from the game, to put the ships in line with Fleet vessels so you get a return on the Fleet Modules you spent for your ship.
I fly an Intrepid-R, still a good ship and am working for a Fleet one eventually, eventually I will get it, even though people say the Vesta is superior in every way but I don't want that. Through adversity, lies accomplishment.
Plus the Intrepid is a hell of a lot better looking and canon then the Vesta could ever hope to be.
I agree with the Fleet Ships. I fly a Fleet Mogai and Fleet Excelsior on two characters. A proper skill curve would be great to work with some kind of progression towards end game, but also balance it so people who may not have the time, don't get punished.
The day they ditch the consoles for ships and go with some kind of tech-tree for your ship, I'll be a happy happy man LOL
I just had to post my reply.I am a veteran player of STO and dont normally post much, all i do is read other post.Im done with being shy of chatting but one thing i notice about reading post is it seems when a good ship becomes availiable to other players besides klinks that would test other klink pvpers pvp ,i seem to notice there is a post saying that ship is op or its too powerful in pvp lol.wth guys since STO started in pvp klinks allways get upper hand thats why pvp is broke so why are some people yapping because maybe a ship could be their match finally. As a veteran in MMO games and all the MMO's games i played there was always good pvp playstyle. This is first game i dont do pvp and really i kinda miss that because back in the day when i pvp alot i was legend in some games.I am starting to miss some balanced pvp and would love it most in STo since this is first MMO i ever stuck with for the longest time.
P.S. freakin love this game BTW live long STo im huge fan of star trek since i was very young watching.star trek with my father every episode until the day he died he loved it so much

I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
