from a role playing point of view for a reman officer the scemitar repercents the reman flag ship desing as a dreadnaught battle ship/carrier. my reman really wanted to fly a remans ship at max level but was dissapointed the lor did not launch with any reman designed ship or was able to at least fly tier 5 allied ships even the cstore ships
also the rr needs a carrier class and the only romulan and reman class ship that is know of being romulan/reman that is a canon carrier is the reman scemitar
I will be getting one for my Reman. He is still low level so it will not be imediately since I am taking my tjme to level him. All the dilithium he earns while leveling will be for the Scimitar+
Not trying to be offensive or anything but if subs were all that profitable the game wouldn't have been forced to go F2P to stay afloat. The cash shop is indeed what keeps this game going.
I don't think anyone is denying that. But to be so naive to believe that every time you throw 50 bucks on a new shiny ship in cash shop and that is the only thing that keeps the game afloat is absurd when no one here even knows how much of that money that people pump into cash shop goes to actual development of content. For all we know they might not even need half of that money to keep the game up.
Ill buy it because i am a sucker for shinies and i have money. I honestly feel some people slate things on this game simply because they cant buy them...

To those who think that cryptic rushed the game to meet a licensing deadline(Which I myself have never heard of before, and I've been here since launch...), I would remind them that ATARI/Infogrames owned cryptic at the time, considering that atari went bankrupt, then was bought out by another game company(Infogrames) whose OWN NAME was so badly tarnished they switched to they're newly acquired company's name. Also atari/Infogrames at the time was in rather dire straits financially and was a tightwad with STO development budget.
It didn't help for the last half of the development cycle before release the future of cryptic was up in the air, even after release the future of STO and cryptic in general was highly uncertain and there were constant negotiations going on, not much money was being funneled into improving the game afterwards...
Considering that Atari sold off cryptic for around $50million and wiped out ALL of it's Debts, I'd say the quality of the game has improved SIGNIFICANTLY since PWE bought cryptic!!!!!!!
Just heard on the PoD cast that the Scimatar has five weapons in the front and two or three in the back.
Throw in the console powers including the Tholoran attack, the battle cloak, the consoles two hangars, and so on and you have a massively powerful ship. Like OP powerful and I'm not one to allows call ships OP in fact this is the first time.
Egh, and I thought getting around in crowded portions of sector space was bad with a D'deridex. That thing is massive. I hope for 5000 Zen you've got a lot of patience.

Let's see...
-Androian weapon layout
-POSSIBLY 5 tac consoles
-DESIGNED for park and shoot, which was a traditional no-no. Especially thanks to its thalon weapon, it's enforced.
-Cloak and fire any weapon. with shields
-Hangar, which either gives you DPS, shield heal, or Point defenses. And there's likely two of them. Or a frigate that can use any weapons
-High turn rate
On one hand it's "OP". On the other hand, I wouldn't want it any otherway.
The only problem is that I will stop playing my Fed since its "carriers" can't do park and shoot.
Based solely on the video in OP's post, I'm getting afraid it's bigger than it should be (which is funny, since 'too big to fit in game' used to be a frequent argument for devs, and is now probably shared with all that meet plenty Ha'... and Big D birds). Yes, it is huge, but only in comparison with other Nemesis starring ships: Mogais and Sovereign, and those are actually relatively small compared to the Big D and new Ha'... trio of warbirds.
But because of perspective and big collision boxes, it might only be an illusion (hopefully).
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Yes I had heard this as well - from other places
the carrier version had 5/2
The pure tac version has 5/3 - 5 tac consoles - 2 uni boff slot - 1 lt - 1 lt cmdr 50k hull and 1.2 shield +++ all the other tricks

Or maybe Pay 2 Win doesn't really appeal to some people, even people who have the money to do it?
And the Scimitar is Cryptics most blatant pay to win moneygrab yet. Sit in one place, cloak, kill everything. Perfect for all those players who were so tired of the same old "movement" and "actually watch the screen" mechanics of every other MMO.
That said, the screaming and crying when they inevitably nerf the hell out of it after they've decided they've sold enough of them will be greatly amusing.
According to the PoD cast the Scimatar isn't the flag ship, the Flagship is the Tlliest or something, may have misspelled that. And the Captain might be Toreth from the episode where Troi is undercover as a Tal Shiar Major.
Yeaa, I'm surely not spending $50 on an in-game item..
But I might spend accumulated dilithium for it; those $50 can be put to a better use, far more useful than something you don't even own per se..

Typical ehh?? if people are not so eager to throw their money on shinies in cash shop..the only explanation is that 'they are broke and can not buy it'...

Really? That's great news, that means more ships for the Romulan faction are comming! :)And I look forward to see the look and design on the new flagship of the Romulan Republic since the Scimitar was something already known, but the flagship will be something completely new then.
Here's to hoping it looks as deadly and good as the Bortasqu', if not better.
I really need to listen to the podcast Hav posted when I have the time.
need to do something with maneuvering thrusters, because warp engines aren't necessarily the same thing. Scimitar even runs cannon, just one of those ships.. that im going to buy!
Lyndon Brewer: 20% chance to capture enemy ship for 60 seconds on successful use of boarding party.
Being that big it shouldn't be able turn that fast. Either nerf its turn rate or buff other cruisers. Right now it doesn't make sense.
Crusiers turn like a brick/bus - while a winged warbird turns partially like a real bird - dipping one wing and raising the other - this greatly reduces the total arc of the turn.

Starfleet Dental's next project, no doubt. -_-

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Agreed. What's this beasts weakness.
Buff the cruisers then, because according to Nemesis it can turn pretty damn well
Cruisers should be able to turn better than thay do anyway, judging from the TV shows
cause sometimes its party time!
