I'm not gonna cry nerf, but the T4 Nukara Web Mines are the most OP thing I have ever seen in STO. Worse than the old pre nerf Trico mines & a Valdore console on a Bug Ship. Don't believe me? When PvP is flooded with them and energy weapons are moot you will. Here's how it works, 1 mine hits you, traps you, more mines hit you, keep hurting you even after, you die. Shields be darned. To those of you that argued nerfs are invalid if ANY counter is available, well there's many. CSV, TS, PSV, & more. So you better choose your side quickly.

Don't those consumable 'web breaker' things that do tetryon damage in a large AoE also destroy them? Not the mines, but the webs after you have gotten hit with them.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

I'll probably dread this...but whats the cost of them?

Seems I'll have to break my 'no rep' rule if the webs are that bad...

Like all console/weapons from the Reputation projects, it's 500 Nukura marks (some other stuff, but that is the significant cost).

I believe he was asking about the cost of the web breakers, not the web mines.

to which I say: I'm not sure. They are a consumbable item, so probably not terribly expensive, though you would need a lot of them.

Ha, our greatest enemy on the forums. Misinformation, I simply can not believe how many people will call for a nerf when they have never touched the item they wish to nerf...

But as to the origional topic, the Web Mines do a lot to a person. Full disable and they can rip hull off of ships. So in short, Nerf it with Fire!!!!

Atleast make Dispersal Patterns not usable on it.

I already have it on my Fed toon and was undecided about whether to use it on my Rom toon. After reading this thread, seeing how many people are crying nerf for an item has just barely made it to holodeck for a few days - I know I have to put this on my Rom toon + dispersal pattern.

Come to think of it, I thought many in the PvP forum have always maintained that mines are useless because they can just fly away via EptE, APO and 125 to engine power, no? If so, how do people still get caught by those mines?

I really want to know if there is a counter or you can just look at your ship sploding like it happend to me

The only targets I have been using those on so far are Tholian flag ships in PvE, and yes, they do trap them in the webs. Are they really OP?

Mine is a projectile so anything that boosts projectile damage will enhance it, so does decloak ambush, APA and APO, TT the newest T4 Nukara rep, Rule 62 combat console. One can buff the damage per mine per 0.5 sec to about 3000, X 8 for about 24K physical damage per mine for 4 sec. each. 50% of the damage by pass shields. Each lauch a pair of 2 mines every 30 sec. So if both hit, we are talking about a 24K hull damage. But this can be doubled with dispersal pattern 1 to 48K, tripled to 72K with dispersal pattern 2, and quadrupled to 96K with dispersal pattern 3. If the mines go critical, well...

As always the problem with mines is that they can be shot down and in PvE, the NPC will target them first. In PvP, I can imagine some absent minded people will cry when hit by this. The truth is, if your ship is fast enough, mines can't catch you. The deployment time is long. It's also difficult to time. I get a chuckle when some people, after seeing I run a torp boat which uses cluster torp launcher, tried to imitate my tactic by installing cluster torp of their own and try to fire them at me hoping to land some big crit shot. :D They are na?ve - you think somebody who is so familiar with how that weapon works doesn't know how to evade them? You don't fire a cluster torp on its own, to do so is amateur. Likewise, to make these web mines work for you require someone who knows how to work with projectiles. Some escorts that run all DHC platform but put this on their ship thinking they have a I Win button is going to wake up to a very rude surprise.

Good thing I run PSW on my wells healer then ;)

It ain't so simple. While the vast majority of PvPers are DHC based Escorts in their bugs, Defiants or similarly bad TRIBBLE ships - the few dedicated projectile specialists out there such as myself are keenly aware how people dodge projectiles and made sure you can't dodge them. The strategy is simple : Combo attack. If I see you are using PSW, I'll make sure you can't use them when you need it. How, you'd ask? Too many ways but generally speaking, you can't defend something you can't see and there is a number of ways to blind your sensors. Case in point, after blowing up a Klink carrier in Kerrat two days ago, a sneakyKlink DHC escort tried to sneak behind me. Well, in the next 5 sec, he is dead. How? Jam sensors - he became disoriented and stopped firing and unaware a fat nasty cluster trans torp is on its way, itself boosted by 5 X MK XII Transphasic compressor (purple), 2 piece breen sets and APO3 at critical chance that is at 20%+. So the Klink escort is hit with a full spread of Transphasic Torp Spread shot from the rear, then the Cluster hits 2 sec later. Kaboom, the escort is gone. The ambusher was easily taken care of. He probably has PSW or any number of ways to deal with the cluster if he could actually see it but no, he was floating slowly while the cluster hit it right in the face in his fore arc. So yes, in theory, there are many ways to deal with nasty projectiles except your opponent may anticipate it and disable you first.

there is no known counter to the tholian mines after u get hit with em

PDS works only when u see em like any other mine and activate it

repulsers only work as well as the timing and number of targets

    mines destroy mines

but after u get hit u are in stasis mode and the effect on tribble was that the trap can not be broken from the outside or inside by weapon fire or ability

Nor can you use a retroactively powerful since nerfed "OP" Trico mine. You missed my point completely.
    naevius wrote: »

I tested them in a 1v1 scenario yesterday (my opponent had them, not me). Unless you hear the sound of them dispersing, your chance to even know they are there is very slim. The CD is very short, and they are hard to see at best. No shield power setting, or even BFI III made any difference. You hit them, you die. Period. (at least with disp patt)

Yeah, they also claim any counter to something OP makes it not OP. I wonder how many will change their tune. My testing showed even 122 engine power was very little help unless the mines were made more visible. 1 hits you, they all hit you.

Are they still screen blinding when they pop? Some of this stuff, as mentioned, was mentioned during the LoR beta...

...personally, have to give credit to anybody that continues to PvP (much less plays STO) since LoR.
