Cryptic Game Launcher Not Responding

For the last few months, every time I started Star Trek Online, the Autoupdate comes on, finish what ever it does, then the launcher loads white. Immediately after the launcher window comes up, a "Cryptic Game Launcher Not Responding" box comes up, and then I have to close the program.

The weird bit is that both the launchers for Blacklight and Neverwinter work perfectly.

I have purged and reinstalled all of my Perfect World games 20 times in the last 2 days alone.

Also, when I run a fresh install for the first time, it seems to generate a file called "dbghelp.dll".

Today, I bypassed the launcher by starting the GameClient.exe from the /Live folder but when I tried to log in, it said my connection to the account servers timed out.

I don't have Teamviewer, I have downloaded the new launcher version, I have downloaded and run from Steam, I have run as admin, I have verified the game cache via Steam and I have updated all my drivers.

I have a vague feeling that I may have somehow missed a file, but have no idea where it would be ( I've checked in Users\Public\Games, \steamapps\common, and have straight up deleted Program Files (86x)\Cryptic Studios.

I have no idea what to do now, and am rather desperate for any new ideas.

I too have had a similar problem. When I try to launch it, it says t is running but is not viewable on my screen. My friend recommended creating a second admin account, and it worked. But it is a pain as I cannot create everything on this second account as on my main account, and now every time I load my computer I have to choose which account to login to... so annoying! :mad:

This was my thread on the same problem and it died.

I had a thread about it on the Steam forums, that one died too.

The worst part about this problem is that I can't even tell what's wrong. People here complain about launcher problems but at least you can get the launcher to show up at all. Imagine if your launcher crashed right at the start. No option to change settings at all.

I can say this much to clear things off the bat:

I don't have team viewer.

Compatibility mode does not work.

Running as admin does not work.
