...i dont agree with cubes, especially a tactical cube! can you imagine a group of 5 tactical cube players wondering around maximizing their ablities during pvp?
PvP?? Are you joking?? You'll need to move before you go to PvP, can you imagine a group of 5 tactical cubes parked in front of ESD? Nothing goes in, nothing goes out.
As if the gigantic D'Deridex and the terribly oversized ship box of the Mogai clogging the traffic everywhere isn't enough, those cubes would put the Galaxy to a stand still. :P
The Cube and Sphere are too iconic and overused to be used in a Borg lockbox. The Borg Type 03 is unique enough that it could be a playable ship or introduced as another race's ship. Lore could have found or stole the ship and is not actually a Borg ship.
i think cubes and spheres do need to become playable at some point, but making any attempt to balance those ships with existing ships is futile, it will only result in mass disappointment. some ships are much more powerful than others, and ignoring that fact would not be a good thing in this case.
it cant be like adding any other ship that can team with four others and go up against an equal team. it would have to always be like 1v2 or more. i think the only proper way to introduce borg ships is through exclusive use by a borg faction, but it should be totally different from fed/kdf/rom gameplay. it could be like the whole faction is one big fleet, and all the drones are out doing the hive mind's biddings, gathering supplies and contributing them to the galactic domination effort, building ships and uni-complexes, and attacking the home planet of each faction during events. a game-wide territory control system could be worked in at the same time.
Although you were trying to be funny, there *is* something to be said for introducing Borg ships that are *only* playable by actual Borg playable characters (yes, we now have those too).
Not sure what you're talking about here but there are only Liberated Borg, and there is the big difference ... because Liberated Borg (at least in the Alpha Quadrant) would most likely just go back to the FEDs, KDF or Roms ... so I can't really imagine them flying around with some giant cube which would require lots of Drones etc (basically some kind of Mini-Faction) ... even most of the "VOY : Unimatrix Zero Borg" would eventually stop flying these ships ... because it's not really in favor of getting back someones Individuality, they only have done it in VOY, because they had no choice ....
If someone really wants "playable" Borg with "playable" Cubes ... they should know Borg are not "playable" by definition ... all you should get, is watching some Screensaver while the Queens controls your every action :P

How about a mini-cube with cloak?
It should come with a console that one-shots a random player when the word KAZAAM is spoken...BUT...it will have a 3 min CD!
Disclaimer 0.01% chance to win BUT fairly powerful!
I have an idea for the next lockbox. Its the lockbox lockbox.
You open it up and win lockboxes. Now you open those up to win more lockboxes which in turn allows you to win more lockboxes, thankfully that gives you a chance get more lockboxes which have a chance to win a ship or more lockboxes. The ship of course would have a proc that would give you more of the lockbox lockboxes.

Ah yes, the Assimilated Lock Box and all the grief that accompanies it. Its kind of humorous seeing the amount of angst this brings up time and time again. I stopped trying to make logical arguments for the lock box. It would raise obscene amounts of money for the game but people like to assume the worst and think it would destroy the game. I think most people arguing for the box think of Liberated Borg but most people against the box think of Zombie Borg.
I think a fully assimilated version of Voyager, or any Fed ship would make sense, but not a sphere. A Liberated Fed/KDF ship. Supposedly all ships assimilated start turning towards a sphere as they assimilate other ships and the two are merged together into a giant metal snowball. So a Liberated ship could look partially sphere like.
Now people are saying the Tal Shar ship is the game's Borg ship and that's enough and end of discussion. I can agree that it is nice to see a new interior but the exterior isn't very Fed like and it would be nice to have something that looks more recognizable.
It would be nice if the lock box had a situation where you need to get A before B and A is account bound. For example, you have to unlock Liberated Borg grand prize first before unlocking the ship next. Since only LTS have Liberated Borg only they could get the ship right away. Everyone else would have to buy keys and unlock the race first. Consequently keys would be worth more as would the ship as a lot of people would want to buy the ship outright. More keys would be sold in the Z-Store because they are worth more. Right now its not worth opening a box yourself. It would be nice if it was.
Currently ships sell for about 1/4th the amount of keys it takes to get it... which makes me wonder, who the heck spends all their money to put a ship up for only 25 cents on the dollar?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Borg faction... Who knows? 3-10 years down the road, if the game is still up?

At one time those did exist and dropped in STFs.
You might still be able to find a few on the exchange.
All liberated borg could have the option to become part of its crew as it very slowly makes its way from the alpha quadrent BACK to the delta
