New Strange Lag

vegie0vegie0 Member Posts: 480 Arc User
Hello,

My lag seems different then normal ISP latency, let me explain. The lag seems to be a new thing, with no change in hardware or programs on the affected machine. So on 2 Different ISPs the connection appears lagged. By almost 10 seconds from time of action on my screen to the Rubberbanding, followed by forced dragging around the screen, my Raging... then finaly the action is executed. Even PVE is somewhat difficult under these conditions.

List of things it could be: 1)Virus, Checked with Malware Bites, and a few others.
2)Slow Internet, I pull about 12Mbps down and up.
3)My ISP, Im running Verizon/Cutthroat and they work fine.
4)My computer, It's not overheating, I even cooled it externally.
5)Torrent/Large Downloads, Not running, verified by connection monitoring.
6)Cryptics server, (dunno about this one) but it seems likely as I am the one Recieving the "Server not responding" message.

I have changed nothing, but it seems that the lag is not from me, I will continue to try and fix this on my own, as I love LoR.

But if anybody knows of anything that it could be, please do speak up. Currently it looks like either Cyrptic's server, or something between my local network and thier server is running NetZero...

If anybody else is getting pwned by Lag similar to this please speak up, this is very new, when LoR launched I had no lag at all. Now I can't play effectively... I die in elites ffs. A nanite sphere killed me :(.

Now for the perticulars.

Also, the Nettest.exe is a pain to work with, and closed befor I could copy it.

It pulled a LOT of really low numbers, Highest set was like follows 14kbps 1kbps 11kbps.

A lot of them were lower, 0 was flashed a lot :(.

Things go from bad when your trace packets hit the ALTER.NET network, to worse when they hit pnap.net to the perfect world gateway... Appears to be a congestion issue...

Internet routing protocols are dynamic in nature, and will rearrange themselves in response to changes in load, as well as peering changes amongst the backbone providers themselves... You could try posting this on the PWE Tech Support site so that Cryptic/PWE can kick pnap.net some more with the information...

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=272419

Other then that, the only other thing you could try is to go into option menu of the Launcher, and try enabling one of the 'Proxy' settings to see if this puts you on a different Internet path with less congestion. Use of the Proxy however, should be considered as a temporary work around, and not a true long term solution to the issue...

    First off thanks Grouchy,

I don't actually understand too much more then Lower Ping is good, Higher Badwidth Awesome, but I am gonna try a Proxy, and see what I get.

Other then that maybe I could try and wait for less Congested Hours?

    Any way, tks again. :D

I've also tried proxys with no real success, it seems that the lag is here to stay for the moment.

Any way, I will keep trying when I can. Running out of available solutions. May have to wait this one out.

Ok... I had no lag at all earlier, now I left my computer and came back, an now the lag bomb has droped... Dafq?

This seems like the last people on the server get rationed bandwidth... perhaps that saves money, but just put the ques in place, dont ruin the game. >:(
