Cut your generals' heads and hand marshal batons to the rest... you sure win wars that way...

Actually, that is exactly how Sun Tzu motivated his armies into becoming unbeatable.. A man in fear of losing his head, is a man who performs..

just bought 3 pwe cards this week and was gonna get the hole rom package for 150 dollors couse i was bringing 200 players to the server so they could play the game with all the new content and they ant shy bout spending huge sums on there games but all the down time and this one just happened no warning as i was showing and skypeing trying to bring 67 people in to sto the server crashed now they all dont want any thing to do with cryptic i realley hope yall get it fixed so i can show how good the game is and bring the 17 guilds from 9 shaiya servers to sto

If there is one thing I have learned out of all this it is this. Don't refer friends from other games to STO cause you wind up looking like an idiot for backing this company. The server crashes and daily maintenance have cost Cryptic more money than most of us can imagine. Finally the last 3 weeks+ have been a nightmare for this game.

I believe the actual game server is up, but its the Login and Authentication servers that are timing me out so the problem lies there perhaps?

The forums moving at a snails pace so someone may answer this before me but if I remember correctly load "*",8,1 meant load the first file on the disk.....oh man do I feel old now!! LOL.... I need wine .. :P

Right - if you had more than one file you would specify the filename. Otherwise "*" was "load the first file found."

Also, I think "$" meant to display the file directory or something like that - basically list all files on the disk.

When I first made that Commadore 64 comment... I really didn't think anybody else would even remember what it was... LoL. Glad to see some old school computer geeks here like me...
Maybe you can answer this: My load command was Load " * " ,8,1
What the heck did the * mean? Its been so long I have forgotten.

I think it means load all.

I was thinking It would be a good time to have the server crash, you know right in the middle of doing something is always a good time for unexpected downtime. /sarcasm

Nothing like lots of downtime when a beta for another game is made public, nothing like downtime when the upcoming expansion for the game you are playing is made public, and nothing like daily downtime when the expansion is released and the other games beta is still open. Whats next? NW gets released and we get downtime 2 times a day rather than once?

I am going to have to say i believe that adding NW beta to the exhisting server farm was just too much for it, Adding LOR beta was too much for it. PW and Cryptic must not like new customers.

I think it is time for cryptic to come clean and give some kind of explanation of what is going on with their servers. With so much "emergency maintenance", server crashes, lag, and other issues seeming to plague the game, I think the players(your customers) need to have some idea of what is going on and why. Not asking for proprietary information here, or details on how your systems work, but the old "we are aware of the situation and are working to resolve it" just isn't cutting it anymore. I think you will find, information and a bit of disclosure to the community will go a long way in dealing with a lot of the frustration here, and I am quite sure you the devs are just as frustrated that during a time when STO is expecting big things and there is a lot of excitement around LoR, things just are not going quite well.

Also hoping this is not another DDoS attack like EVE just suffered through the other day, and other online games have been dealing with over the past month.

Star Trek Online is currently offline. We are working to resolve the issue.

I think it means load all.

    <----Also had a C64.

I thought the * meant load the first executable file it comes across on the disk. It didn't work with all games, but with most.

My cat Rupert always runs around buck naked.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    From STO's twitter:

"Hi Captains. We are investigating Holodeck being down. We'll update you as soon as we have more information. Thanks for your patience!"

"Thanks for your continued patience! We expect to have you back in-game within 60 minutes from this tweet. We will message if that changes."

Why on Twitter I don't know... perhaps because they're having the same problem with their forums I am... almost impossible to get on here.

Because it's better to Tweet at us then to talk to us ?
