Can't Connect to Launcher

Hi,

I suddenly am having a problem when I open the STO launcher and am getting the following error.

*unable to download launcher_login from launcher.startrekonline.com
unable to open this internet site. the requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. please try again later*

I didn't have this error as of a few days ago and I haven't installed anything new. To try and fix it I rolled back my computer 10 days but this didn't work so I uninstalled and reinstalled and patched STO and am still having this problem.

Any thought on what I could do to resolve this problem and play STO =(.

Thanks!

I’m having the same problem I click on the launcher and it pops up with a page that looks like I’m not connecting to the internet, but I can connect to everything else ok. I also get the same message when I try to log in to the website. I can bring up the log in page, but after I put in my username and password I get the error page. I had to log in to the forums from my work computer.

Did anyone get this fixed? I have just re-installed, and have that exact error. I installed from steam, and without steam, the steam version gets that far, but the non-steam install just crashes without even the window.

    Help?

...I have tried installing on a different drive, installing on the same drive outside of steam, disabling AVG, uninstalling AVG, turning off then on windows firewall, still nothing. I tested my ping to the cryptic servers, and it's green and happy (Oklahoma region here, the closest area to my ping was houston, tx). I am baffled.

ok, i just found the problem on my pc.

it was not enought to disable my virus scanner, i had to deinstall the toolbar it creat on my webbrowser. after that the sto launcher works like before.

the launcher based on ie. this coud make some trouble if you change something ther. hope this will help you too.

I have no such toolbar, and removed IE the minute I got the laptop, as I always do.
It seems that since last weekend (nb: had not used laptop for several months before that, so timefame is unclear), both the Skype launcher and the STO launcher give me a blank window the size of the usual login frame, but no activity or response to blind clicking. In the case of the STO launcher, I get two popups that I normally never got (and still don't get on my main PC, incidentally) :

    1. an IE download tracker with pages flying from a planet to a folder, with the text :
      Getting File Information:
      launcher_login from launcher.startrekonline.com

      Estimated time left:
      Download to:
      Transfer rate:
[x] Close this dialog box when download completes

    2. an error window labelled "Web Browser" with the text :
Unable to download launcher_login from launcher.startrekonline.com.
Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
      Please try again later.

    UPDATE :

Na installatie van IE9 was het probleem ineens verholpen. Hope this helps.
Ook Skype heb ik werkend gekregen, door de target link van de shortcut aan te passen naar :
    "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin
