I disagree. It makes perfect sense for them to extend the discount of the packs. The whole point was to let people play with LoR for a little bit to see if they wanted to buy a pack. Because of the outages, people in certain timezones haven't been able to play with the game as much as they hoped. They may not have had enough time to form a conclusion as to whether they wanted to buy a pack or not. By extending the discount it allows those people a longer time frame to make their decision. Had they kept the original deadline it would have punished those who might have wanted a pack but couldn't play enough because of the outages. I think it's a good decision on Cryptic's part tbh.
This.
It's the exact same reason they extended the key sale.
And to be entirely honest, I more than expected the price jump to happen at or before LoR launched. The fact that folks got to try before they bought is not the usual Cryptic MO when it comes to their bundles.
Honestly, with all the instability, I can't see myself spending either $125 or $199 on STO. Having worked in the industry, I do understand that launches are fraught with peril and it's rarely a wise financial decision to invest in permanent capacity for the two week surge of players that usually occurs.
But, Crikey... STO hasn't been this unstable since retail launch and head start.
So, I bought a Legacy pack -- took some saving up a bit, but I got the cash together and took the plunge. Paid with Visa through PayPal, smooth sailing -- no problems. Had to log in again with PWE towards the end, and that happened without incident too -- although I don't remember ever seeing my actual @name come up.
Which is where the problem happened: I have two accounts, one inactive and one I actually play on. Which one got the Legacy pack? Good guess -- the inactive one. I have submitted a report to billing (Ref # 130524-002442 -- 5 days ago) and had no action so far -- is there anything else I can do to help things along?
This needs to be resolved before the sale ends; I can't afford two legacy packs, nor even one at $212.
Edit: Day nine of the ticket (on a Saturday, no less!) I was issued a full refund, and was able to use that cash to buy the Legacy pack on my play account. All is now well, and many thanks to the folks at customer support!
Personally, I think this pack needs to be discounted further, not increased. How much of the stuff in this pack has some sort of issue with it? Selling broken and bugged content even at a discount isn't worth it in my opinion.
