You can fly an enemy's T5 ship, but you can't fly an ally's T5 ship. That would obviously be wrong.
So here's what I suggest: The next lockbox should be a Federation/Klingon lockbox with T5 ships. Judging by some of these posts, it makes perfect sense for a romulan to obtain an allied ship from a lockbox than their actual allies, amirite or amirite?
I don't think the restrictions go far enough in my opinion, Romulans should not be flying any KDF or Federation ships at all, and correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know the Romulans are the only ones that have their own non shared social zones, as far as I am aware no Federation or KDF can enter either the Romulan Flotilla or Romulan command on New Romulus. They should not be on/in ESD/First City or the academies.... Either that or a separate Starfleet Command and KDF High Command should be added as Romulan free zones.
More to the point, why did I leave my faction to join the fed or kling just to be shunned from there more powerful weapons later on. Am I a second class citizen, good enough to die in battle, but not to purchase the best technology. Its misleading and confuses and frustrates the player. Its a problem.
Why are there so many of these whiny posts lately? No you're not getting VA ships, BIG DEAL...NOT. They shouldn't even let you fly lower level allied ships much less VA/LG ones. You didn't LEAVE any faction. there wasn't a faction to begin with... you're a refugee plain and simple. The Romulan Empire(Sela and the Tal Shiar) don't want you/want you dead. The Federation and KDF are helping you, you didn't go through Starfleet or the Klingon Academies, you are NOT a Starfleet officer, you're merely allied with them. Do you think Starfleet would risk it's top technology giving it to a Romulan who plans on TRIBBLE with the Tal Shiar? Another thing.... I don't know WHAT your issue with Warbirds are... but my Fleet Dhelan Warbird Retrofit can sit up there in the DPS range of Kumaris, Fleet Defiants, and Bug Ships no problem and when it uses Singularity Overcharge at 5 charges it can put them all to shame. To be honest I DO love my unlocked fed ships, but I could never bring myself to put my Romulan in them.
I am under the impression that the ships were not taken away from you, and that they are still accessible via their intended factions.
problem is the dominion feringi as far as i have seen so far can not be used by romulans same with tholians yet feds and klingons can yes yes i know we have the "tal shiar" lockboxes but still we should be able to use the diminion and ferengi ships same as the rest

You didn't actually "leave" your faction. The story line makes it plain that you are allying yourself with one faction or the other as a representative of the Romulan Republic but you are, and always will be, first and foremost a member of the Romulan Republic. It is the Romulan Republic that commands your first allegiance. The Klingon and Federation Empires are allying with the Romulan Republic for their own reasons and because they believe it to be in their own best interests. Given that, it wouldn't actually make sense for you to have access to their biggest and best tech as you are NOT a member of the Federation or Klingon Empires... you are a representative of a faction with whom they have a tentative alliance. A new ally... not a tried and trusted friend... yet. Your Republic also has allied itself, in it's own best interests, with two factions that are currently at war with one another... at least officially. Again that makes it perfectly reasonable that you would have only limited access to their resources.
Most people, meaning those that don't know about it yet. Just talked to 5 people that are lived in command central chat and think its so bad that I must be trolling them. Yeah, Most people....
We create our own reality, obviously :P, since I have no problems with this situation, feel that it makes perfect sense, wouldn't make any sense the way you seem to want it and you are the FIRST person I've encountered anywhere that really has a problem with it. You, on the other hand, are irate and frustrated with this story line and it's natural implications so you attract like-minded folks. However the majority of the folks in game do not seem to have a problem with it... and that includes those who read the forums and were aware of it before the release even went live.
Most likely I created you so that I would have an opportunity to better understand all this and explain it to myself... for that... I thank you !

I took my joined trill tac all the way up to VA in the regular Nova back in the day.
