I like the new content, but there is just one minor part that I cannot get past. There is no way the Klingons & Romulans would ever team up in the Star Trek universe.
I mean seriously, these guys hate each other with a passion. In fact, it is even included as part of the game's story-line that the Klingons refused to send any aid to the Romulans when their planet got destroyed.
Now the Romulans are hanging out with Klingons? C'mon now....
You are aware that the RSE and KDF did have an alliance at one time? That's how the KDF got their cloaks. And the Durass family was quite willing to ally with the Romulans. And in Birthright we see Klingons and Romulans who actually married and lived together.
Hatred isn't genetic and a country's leaders don't necessarily exude the beliefs of all their people. And many strange alliances have been made throughout history when a greater cause was at stake.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
The Klingons likely tolerate them so they can get access to the Romulan technology, D'tan even eludes to this in the Romulan missions basically saying that its likely the only reason that either SF or the KDF is putting up with them.
That and the current Chancellor is basically backed by house Duras and they are known to of colluded with the Romulans more than once. I doubt it would be a fair stretch for them to influence J'mpok
As already mentioned, there was an alliance between the Klingons and the Romulans at some point; thus the Klingons acquisition of Cloaking Technology (though didn't they have such in ST:Enterprise anyway?) ~ lets call it a clock upgrade.
There was also Sela who temporarily allied with the Duras Family. They allied again (with the Federation) during the Dominion War.
Before D'Tan and the Republic, the Romulans were The Imperial Star Empire; they posed a threat to the Klingons. Now, it's a mere Romulan Republic; a significantly reduced force that poses little to no threat to the Klingon Empire. Add to the fact, the D'Tan and his Romulans are sharing their technology; it's no surprise that the Klingons have jumped on ship. They're going to get some nice new toys to play with whilst doing one thing that they love to do; fight (in this case, against the Tal Shiar).
It's a win-win for everyone.
...even though I'd have preferred a stand-alone Romulan Faction, we've all got to make do with what we've got. There's little point trying to pick it apart cause it's here to stay.
Additoinally, from the TOS timeline...it was my understanding that the Romulans got at least some of the advanced vessel designs from the Klingons -- they had some sort of alliance at some point.
That is supposedly how they made the jump from the "old style" warbirds (TOS, "Balance of Terror") to the D'Deridex and the other types of vessels which bear some resemblance to Klingon vessel design. (slinge unit construction to modular, with neck/boom/wings...)
I might be wrong on that...I don't stay as up to date with Canon as I used to, and it is my understanding that a lot of "revisionist history" has been implemented since the days of Kirk and Spock...

the sela thing if you think like a romulan what better way to conquer your enemy then to have them in a state of civil war or so weak they not be able to put up much of a fight
and the ds9 war thing they where tricked in to that war
now really after them 2 links could you really see them being friends like it did not happen that would start a blood feud and one I would not see going a way for a very very very very long time hatfields and mccoys any one?
if kdf are still true Klingons after they got dun with the fed war they be turn on them so called romulan friends and turn them in to slaves

Aside from when they had an alliance? lol :P
Have you not played the peace-conference mission yet? It was something very similar occurred at Narendra III that led to peace with the Federation, which had seemed like a far-fetched notion prior to that.
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"
9 Episodes = 30+ episodes...?

It's pronounced "S.T.O." "Stow" sounds idiotic! lol
Well, the KDF pretty much has to, doesn't it? If it sits back and does nothing, then they leave the Romulans to the Federation and their spiked root beer of +1 indoctrination. Next thing you know, there's a blue piece of cloth with a white wreath and stars waving over the New Romulus command center, and five randomly numbered fleets of recently upgraded Starfleet ships decloak around Qo'noS, with a special one-time offer for J'mpok to get one just like it.
Let's discuss this further over a root beer, shall we?
the alliance was a trade of Cloaking Tech for Klingon D7's.
Some fan speculation was the Romulans were developing their singulatiry core technology But it wasn't prefected yet. The alliance was to allow the Romulans to get their hands advanced warp ships until the singularity cores were ready. It's a bit of speculation that makes a lot of sense to me.
Oh they'll team up as long as there is a common enemy, like the Tal Shiar or the Dominion War. Peacetime alliance as far as the Klingons are concerned are always "strained". Klingon and Gorn alliance makes sense due to they both like to fight.
Only thing worse than ignorance is the illusion of knowledge.
Hatred isn't genetic and a country's leaders don't necessarily exude the beliefs of all their people. And many strange alliances have been made throughout history when a greater cause was at stake.
The often turbulent historical relationships between Britain & France immediately popped to mind when reading this.

Would the Klingons see a re-established Empire as a threat then? From the sound of it J'mpok, a Duras ally, would seemingly be more comfortable with Sela's team.

I love this bit of lore. To make humans hesitate, Klingons shove gakk their way. Humans learn to eat it and frequent a DS9 Klingon restaurant. Cardassian put live creatures in eggs in front of tortured humans, hoping to get a reaction. Picard eats. Humans need only open a bottle of root beer, serve roast turkey, and the aliens all want to puke.

I think in game it went a little along the lines of ''He gave his life? For me? For a Klingon?'' when Temer made sure the Tal Shiar's bomb killed only him and not the Klingon representative who was just badmouthing Romulans moments before.
Then something more along the lines of ''Your blood may be green but you fight with the honor of a Klingon'' or something.
As for the Feds, I found T'Nae surprisingly harsh the first time I played this mission, but, it had been a while since I had done Romulan Mystery, so it isn't entirely unexpected.

The D7-Stormbird connection plus cloaking device
Nanclus in ST VI
Ambassador Kell working with them
J'Dan expressing "respect"
House Duras and the Romulan alliance they had
Ba'el - half Klingon, half Romulan
The Romulans fighting side by side with Klingons in the Dominion War.
Worf claiming the Romulans fought with honor in Nemesis - WORF, dude.
Know your Trek history before claiming Romulans and Klingons can't "hang" together. C'mon now....
Also for the OP consider this: The Klingons have wanted to destroy the Romulans and take over their empire for a LONG time now... Then the star blows up and robs them of their victory. They probably STILL want that glorious battle but they cannot have it with a group of refugees and colonists... Sooo what is a battle hardened Warrior to do when his enemy is on the ropes?... Help him out of course!
The Klingons can get the Romulans back to being a powerful force to be reckoned with in the Galaxy and theeeen... They can go DESTROY THEM in the most Glorious battle of ALL TIME! See how that works?
