6Gb patch?

So I go to log in today...and the patcher says I've got 6Gb of patches to download. The entire STO directory on my hard drive is only 6.3Gb.

Holy f%ckballs, Batman! That'll finish for me in, oh, 2 or 3 days.

And apparently after that, I have a number of bugs to look forward to based on the posts of other people who have gotten the patch.

That's it. Just wanted to declare the 6Gb patch to be "f%ckballs."

Alot of that is because almost every texture in the game got changed. Not to mention all the Romulan content, all the new Klingon content, a new reputation system, and a new adventure zone. So, yeah very large update. But, it's worth it.

As for the bugs. They caught a lot of big ones during the beta. The ones they still have are relatively small and getting smaller. If you look at the forum header Branflakes has had a list of issues they are working on. It is getting shorter day by day. It may seem like an eternity- I was one of the people raging about not being able to log in- but in reality it has been less than a week since the largest update to the game since launch.

Hello everyone, I am recently back to the game after having installed it about a year ago and playing it a few times If my memory serves me correctly that install was effortless and with no issues. Yesterday I decided to reinstall it, as I was on a Star Trek kick and that's when the hell began....

I went to the website and relogged into my account and hit the download page. It updated something but it froze with this little box saying (trying to connect update something or other). So I clicked on the x and the patch part came up and it started patching (6932MB some random number) it had gotten to about 20% and just restarted to zero with no error message. Then had like a different random number (5465) whatever, and got to about 76% and failed. So I restarted the whole process and it turns out that the little box that comes up to update? try 1 or something? was related to being affected by my virus scanner. I needed to open a path through my virus scanner to allow it to update, which I did, and then the patch was at yet another random number 11GB!?!?!

Sheesh, what is with all the random numbers and which one is correct... turns out this time I checked in c:\program files(x86)\ now there is a cryptic studios folder which there was not one before. My question is, it has failed a few times during the patch update and it seems to be starting off where it left off each time. This install is total pain and not sure what it is doing and if it is even going to work... I really wanted to play the damn game. Is this normal, has it happened to anyone else, I would appreciate some feedback and input to rectify this situation.

    To the OP:
Either you have a very, VERY small harddrive, or you shoul consider getting a bigger one, maybe even an external one. they are quite cheap these days. 1 TB should be adequate.
Oh, sorry. How a about just deleting 250GB of rubbish? Eyh?
If your computer can run STO, it is propaby equipped with at least 350 Gigs from the start of.
Too much music and movies? Well, then BUY AN EXTRA DRIVE ON THE MONEY YOU SAVE FROM PIRACY...

What the...what? First of all, what cretinous mental malfunction brought you to believe that anything I said had anything even vaguely to do with the size of a hard drive, or the available space thereon?

Even bringing up the notion of hard drive space is totally off the wall. Your post is unrelated in every way to my original post.

But yes, thanks for providing no value in pointing out that hard drives are big and cheap these days. The 1.81Tb of free space on my hard drive are testament to that fact.

You're free to be a ******...but please go do it somewhere else.

First of all, the OP was saying the total size of space the game files for STO takes up is 6.3 GB. There was no indication that his/her hard drive didn't have the capacity to store all of the files from the patch.

Second, your accusation that the OP illegally downloads music and movies without paying for them is baseless, completely unwarranted and extremely rude.
