I think its inappropriate to be asking for any kind of gift or extra zen of whatever. These folks have worked hard to give us a FREE expansion. One that many have been asking for months, maybe years. Yes Cryptic will make their money on the premium stuff, Lock Boxes, extra character slots ect. The expansion is free in every right. They give us a free slot for a new character and plenty of free gear. If you are smart and wise with your resources then you can have the premium stuff for free as well.

I am quite sure the Devs know the situation and if they find it appropriate they will do something nice for us. If they do it will be a gift out of the kindness of their hearts. Where I was raised you are not entitled to gifts or even demand them. Its outright rude and disrespectful.

Yes there was a hiccup in the launch, which by design is a major overhaul which is no big deal. If we cant play for 12-36 hours, the sun will not stop spinning nor will our lives be over. I am a paying customer, as I spend twice the Sub price on average every month and I am fine with the STO team doing what they can to get this right.

If you cant play for awhile, so be it. Go spend time with your family, pick up a book or do some overtime if possible. The game will be working soon enough. No reason to watch the water boil.
lol i'm not complaining i know from all my years mmoing about expansion release days but this i have to facepalm please oh great one tell me what free gear? i have not see a freaking free outfit minus what we get normally i have yet to see a few cstore zen store costume/outfit for my romulan yet.

i demand at least two tier 3 ships for free.

and at least 40 master keys.

    won't take anything less.

I'd settle for a nice big countdown clock on the launcher that comes to 0:00.00 when you can actually go play STO for realz .

(and I mean REAL realz , not Cryptic realz :P)

Pretty much every major release day has these problems, not just in this game either.

everyone knew it was coming, everyone posted it was coming, yet people still seem to be surprised when it happens. its been less than 24 hours and some want compensation?

First, I think it's BS if average F2Players expect anything other than a simple "Thank you for your patience." and "We're sorry for the inconvenience."

However, I do think that it's 100 percent reasonable to assume that the people who purchased the Legacy Pack or the Starter Pack prior to 5/22 had the expectation of playing LOR on launch day and not being caught in this mess.

Those are people who paid good money (Cryptic and PWE can see that) specifically tied to LOR and although those players will get to enjoy the Legacy Pack for many months or years to come, there was an expectation that those players would get to use the Legacy Pack that they paid for on launch day.

If (and that's a big IF) there is any type of "apology gift" in the works I think it's only fair (for the players and Cryptic) if only the people who had actual MONEY in the game specifically tied to LOR get any type of apology gift.

That's the last post I'm making on this subject. I just want to play the game and I'm not looking for handouts ... I just want to play the game already. :(

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

I love the launch day drama, watching everyone with entitlement issues go thru their Olympic grade mental gymnastics to either vent their spleens and/or request hand outs.

My favorite is the "Im an LTS and im entitled because _______ "

Those always make me chuckle i say if they can afford to be LTS they can afford to be patient.

It's been less than a day and nothing has been supremely depreciated in value because of an exploit in the system(as was the case with Neverwinter).

Perhaps it's a bit crude of me to say so, but if anyone leaves in anger over (what I deem to be) an understandable hiccup of service due to the largest and most hyped content update for this game, I doubt they're the sorts I would want to play the game with in the first place.

Seriously, a big thank you to the team for being soo tireless in trying to get everything up and coping with all the chaos today.

    Quoted for truth.

I think the real issue is that people are so self centered that they think any inconvenience towards them is an 'attack' on their imagine rights.

You know, when I first read the post I couldn't help but think it was another "I'm mad, gimme free stuff" post. The sad part is, he clarifies (more than once) that he is not angry or mad, but simply making a suggestion to sooth the ragers (of which he is not one).

Still, after stating that multiple times, people don't get it. They don't take the time to actually read the thread, but read the initial post and reply without understanding the progression of the conversation. It is a sad testament to the modern forum goer... and, yet, completely predictable.

    To the OP:

I understand what you are saying, but I don't really think any sort of a gift is needed... yet. Assuming they iron out the worst in the first 24 hours, any experienced gamer (even the ones that rage every time it happens) knows that the first 24 hours of any launch, initial or expansion, is hectic and it is very rare that something doesn't break or crash. Now, should the up and down nature of the servers continue for 48 or 72 hours, then maybe a small gift might be an understandable idea (if still entirely unnecessary for an expansion launch NO ONE paid for, even if they did buy content). More understandable might be a refund or prorating of sub time should the problem drag on for 48 or more hours. After all, those actually paying for game time and being unable to play do have a fair reason to be upset (for a lifer like me, that isn't an issue, but I could see a monthly gold being upset). While I don't have a problem with silvers and I'm glad we have them, there is only so far you really have to get mad for a game you don't pay to play.

I will say I do have one complaint about all your posts though... Macs? Really? I'm so disappointed, you seem like such an intelligent person otherwise! LOL.

Agreed. I was only able to create a toon and make it to the flotilla. That was 3 pm when the servers came up. It's now almost midnight and I havn't been able to log in since.

BAHAHAHAH I havent even been able to log in at all...Ive tried 7 different times today....when I finally did manage to make a toon and then log in I got the shard being shut down in 5 minutes warning (the 12am to 2am shutdown)....it also took me 2.5 days to fully patch...oh and I am a player since launch and a legacy LoR pack purchaser as well....when I did manage to queue today just to check my FED Tac toon I was 2556 of 13k trying to log in.....

I was able to login and play for a few hours and got my rommie to level 7 before the servers came down again....no big deal...it was fun

And for those of you who are against the thread topic, thats fine with me, it was a suggestion, not a bloody mandate haha

I think alot of you need to learn to read because i NEVER said I was entitled to anything and could give a hoot about getting anything...perhaps go back and try reading the WHOLE thread again? such fail at reading these days... its just sad

I do understand how those who bought any of the packs feel about the situation tho.

But this is how it has been for a very long time now, many season updates has been affected by the high user count that try to connect and download from the patch server.

This expansion of the game is no exception to the rule.
And with the outages that has been during the last months, this was more or less expected by most.
This is what Cryptic mainly should have fixed before releasing anything new, fixing the lag and the downtimes of the servers should have been prioritized as soon as they knew about the problem.
Especially since these problems have been consistent daylie almost...

I have been looking forward to the new stuff just as everyone else have...
I dont hold cryptic up at so high standards that they will reimburse players for a f2p server that has problems.

No matter if you are a monthly sub or LTS you are not paying for the game, with that fee that you are ("you" are used freely here and not directed at anyone in partucular) paying/paid you get extras that you can use ingame.

I think the Devs, are just as frustrated as many players are, probably more so to see something they have been working for months in all, being pushed onto a server with known problems, and probably too soon for it to be released.

And for this, they have to burn some midnight oil to get it to work untill next patch time.
Were they once again will have a new patch that tries to fix the problems.

    Good Luck Cryptic. :-)

The greatest gift is that OUR devs stay on with us and fix gameplay. Like we have the best player base in the world, we have the best devs. Brandon stayed on with us throughout the night, plus not many games get this complete overhaul like ours does or take the time to do one everyone will enjoy.

The STO Team is the greatest and this thread is a non starter.

The gift is the game for F2P's and fact they are willing to go great lengths to make it run for all of us.

Brandon proved that tonight if you will note above.
