I Think It's Gift Pack Time Cryptic

kiriseekirisee Member Posts: 446 Arc User
I think your team needs to do the same as Neverwinter just had to do over the cat fiasco...give all players a decent gift pack on thursdays patch....really, you guys missed the ball ( or the expected server usage) by a mile and a half....i think a really good gift pack from you would make alot of really angry players alot happier and you might not loose alot of players....just a thought from and old sci captain..

Live Long and Prosper Cryptic....i hope....

I think its a pretty fair request given that many who have pre-ordered (yes including myself) have not even had the opportunity to play due to the overloaded servers. Cryptic should have planned ahead better and made sure they had enough slots for players available. They are responsible and should be held accountable for their poor planning. Even Defiance had enough slots despite their crappy launch....Cryptic keeps making these bad decisions they will lose players.....And the sad thing is Ive been playing this game since it first came out....

It's been less than a day and nothing has been supremely depreciated in value because of an exploit in the system(as was the case with Neverwinter).

Perhaps it's a bit crude of me to say so, but if anyone leaves in anger over (what I deem to be) an understandable hiccup of service due to the largest and most hyped content update for this game, I doubt they're the sorts I would want to play the game with in the first place.

Seriously, a big thank you to the team for being soo tireless in trying to get everything up and coping with all the chaos today.

Agreed. I was only able to create a toon and make it to the flotilla. That was 3 pm when the servers came up. It's now almost midnight and I havn't been able to log in since.

I think its inappropriate to be asking for any kind of gift or extra zen of whatever. These folks have worked hard to give us a FREE expansion. One that many have been asking for months, maybe years. Yes Cryptic will make their money on the premium stuff, Lock Boxes, extra character slots ect. The expansion is free in every right. They give us a free slot for a new character and plenty of free gear. If you are smart and wise with your resources then you can have the premium stuff for free as well.

I am quite sure the Devs know the situation and if they find it appropriate they will do something nice for us. If they do it will be a gift out of the kindness of their hearts. Where I was raised you are not entitled to gifts or even demand them. Its outright rude and disrespectful.

Yes there was a hiccup in the launch, which by design is a major overhaul which is no big deal. If we cant play for 12-36 hours, the sun will not stop spinning nor will our lives be over. I am a paying customer, as I spend twice the Sub price on average every month and I am fine with the STO team doing what they can to get this right.

If you cant play for awhile, so be it. Go spend time with your family, pick up a book or do some overtime if possible. The game will be working soon enough. No reason to watch the water boil.

how is that a rage post? sounds like just a suggestion to me. nobody going off about anything.

Lmfao...nope...not a rage post at all...just a thought for Cryptic to calm the masses and give a bit back to the community....like what happened in Neverwinter....i make too much money in game and real life to care about my suggestion...just thought it would be a nice gesture is all

I totally agree with you...Cryptic team deserves a very big hand clap for all the hard work they have put into Legacy of Romulus...

And i know there was no exploit in STO like in Neverwinter, but a nice gesture for a botched launch might make alot of players a bit happier...not saying to give them alot..but a token would be nice for some to....hmm alleviate their frustration?? just a thought...

Heh. They just gave us a giant gift pack in for form of, what, 40 new missions between the Romulans the Klingons? And a character slot? And all the new trait stuff? And upgraded retexturing of half the stuff in the game? And charged us how much for all of that?

So it'll be buggy for a few days. Big deal. Season launches always are. Life goes on.

EVERY Content launch has been like this. And we didn't get gift packs. I see no reason we'd get one now, nor do we need one.

As always, everyone should be patient. This will all pass in short time.

But we will always have the occasional "dead hamsters in their wheels" server crashes. Because that's forever with Cryptic. :D

And here i thought they just gave you a big free expansion to a game they don't charge you to play.

    Stop grubbing.

guess you didn't really read the whole thread huh? i don't care about the patcher problems or login problems...but alot of ppl do....i am LTS and still spend ALOT on the game every month, i don't need anything from Cryptic for compensation at all, but i just think alot of ppl would appreciate it is all...learn to read lol

Maybe just let us refine a weeks worth of dil instead of only 1 day's worth, since we can't get on.

Its nothing free, we have already earned the dil, its just an offering, showing us they know it has been a trial to get into their game.

Do not think anyone will leave but it seems ever since Simcity disaster now everyone is doing same LOL. Cryptic should of made openings available just by who preordered the Romulan content let alone all the subs etc. They messed up and should be held accountable.
As for free stuff etc. that is totally up to them but seriously doubt they would ever give something for free...But it could never hurt to smooth things over LOL

STO and NW situation isn't even close to being similar.

NW had a huge exploit in which a rollback was necessary.

STO is just typical launch issues.

    No to gift packs.

Right let's see, for your free game, thats had free episodes which now has a free expansion, in which everything can be got for free if you grind(unlike a lot of FTP mmo), you would like something free because on the day of release it over whemed by people getting something for free. (see the pattern here)

If this was say Simcity and I paid cash for this game, ok, but this is a free game you volunteer to pay cash to skip the grind.

I don't want anything but a stable free game, that the dl slow queues are full is a good sign for the future of this game. I would be more worried if queues where empty for the future.

Take 2-3 days things will settle again, go out side play another game do some housework.

The big difference between LoR launch and neverwinter, we have had login problems and server maintenance meaning we can't play or progress our characters, neverwinter had a roll-back meaning those characters LOST progress they had already earned, hence why they get a little freebie to sooth the rage.
