To answer the OP's question: Which is worse SimCity or LoR at launch.
Short Answer: SimCity.
Long Answer (tldr) :
When you have hours of work erased for no reason.... and content thrown away and a single player game FORCED into multiplayer game for no good reason.... you get SimCity.
For a few hours, a few people did not play STO: LoR. No one will remember this ... by Sunday.
The 2013 SimCity had the following:
At E3 2012 in June 2012, SimCity won 8 awards out of 24 nominations. On August 23, 2012, SimCity won Gamescom's "Best PC Game" award. The gamescom jury described the video game as having "fantastic graphics" and "struck the right balance between retaining the trademarks of the old parts and making it interesting for beginners".
However, on December 14, 2012, the SimCity development team ran a questions and answers session on the internet community Reddit where they received criticism for the game's DRM-mechanisms.
GlassBox is the engine that drives the entire game the buildings, the economics, trading, and also the overall simulation that can track data for up to 100,000 individual Sims inside each city. There is a massive amount of computing that goes into all of this, and GlassBox works by attributing portions of the computing to EA servers (the cloud) and some on the player's local computer. -Lucy Bradshaw, SVP Maxis
However, Rock, Paper, Shotgun pointed out after the release that cloud resources were not used to support gameplay computation but simply to support inter-city and social media mechanism. The information was also reported in the mainstream media. Those were confirmed by a change in rhetoric from Bradshaw:
From the ground up, we designed this game with multiplayer in mind using new technology to realize a vision of players connected in regions to create a SimCity that captured the dynamism of the world we live in; a global, ever-changing, social world? We also made innovative use of servers to move aspects of the simulation into the cloud to support region play and social features. -Lucy Bradshaw, SVP Maxis
Upon release, SimCity was met with mostly positive reviews, many of which were downgraded after reviewers received reports of server problems. It received mixed to negative reception soon after, with GameRankings and Metacritic assigning scores of 63.68% and 64/100, respectively. Both the media and customers were in riots after the release of SimCity.
Polygon, for instance, which had reviewed the game before the launch, later dropped its 9.5 out of 10 score to 8 out of 10, and then again to 4 out of 10 in response to the issues and EA's decision to disable gameplay features.
CNET UK reported on March 6 that review aggregator Metacritic accumulated a user score of 2.9 out of 10 and several critics reported that the product on Amazon.com had an average rating of 1 out of 5 stars.
SimCity was also criticized for the size of the area the player is given to build a city; critics have noted it to be significantly smaller than what was available in previous games. Maxis responded to this criticism by stating that this was a deliberate compromise to ensure that the game would run smoothly on the majority of users' computers. Maxis also stated that larger areas would likely appear in an upcoming release or expansion of the game.
Bottom line, I do not think LoR will ever get as bad as this.
You gold players would be awfully lonely without us silver players
you silver players are causing these issuses and secondly I am a lifetimer i should not be having log in issues i amin the top of the food chain here
I have been playing STO since season 2
silver needs to have to be at the bottom when launches or when server filled you get bumped not those who pay for the game thankyou
why? because we would all be logged in by now? yes it would be a travesty lol
You fail to see my meaning. My point being that, yes, you would all be logged in. Would you have your free romulan? No. Would you have a server with enough people to do PvE actions at a rapid rate? Maybe. It's not the silver players fault that you can't log in. It's really Cryptic's fault for not realizing that there was inevitably going to be an issue with the launch. There always is.
i subbed for a long time. if they ever fix this i will start subbing again. but i would have to be able to play it without lag/dc/lag first. the lag was there even before the patch.. it just got way worse. they dropped the ball because people have said when LOR hits if they dont change something no one will be able to log in. an here we are sitting waiting. maybe they will do something or tell us something or let us know what they plan to do to fix it. not apologies for acting like they didnt know this was gonna happen. solutions not excuses plz. alot of us pay you guys to buy adequate tech to allow us to play this video game. i see the store works fine though at the moment. guess thats something...

Are you kidding me? Silver players causing the issue? I think some of the gold have let it go to their head. This is caused by a massive patch and the huge traffic.... No group is responsible for it...

To abswer the OP's question: Which is worse SimCity or LoR at launch.
Short Answer: SimCity. Snip
I bow to your thorough research and data to back up your point. I do contest that no one will remember though. This is a pretty back launch compared to other seasons.
I remember the fire sale that Atari pulled just after STO launched and how people crashed Crytpic's rating on the BBB. That was over 3 years ago. Some of us remember.

I believe we can blame a group that has destroyed us... Obamacare lovers. This is, obviously, their fault! They want us to exercise and now they are preventing us from playing STO: LoR
This one has been bad, but not unpredictably so. I don't think anyone familiar with this game's history actually claimed they expected to play today with a straight face.
Things will be fine by tonight/tomorrow and the game will function. Sim City is just borked to the point the whole thing comes off as a gag.
