You obviously didn't play SimCity 3 at all during the first few days... I mean weeks...

You're right! I didn't!. After ME3 disaster I'm not touch anything with EA on it. Shame cause I like some of the older SimCities.

Nice to see the servers are officially down.

Let me get this straight. You blame the silver player base because you can't log on to STO. The same STO that has had these log in issues before? The same issues that have all been, with the exception of the Tribble open beta, the servers lack of processing ability? The processing ability that spans three separate games, each with their own player base?

Did I get it all there or have I missed something?
all cryptic games are on seperate servers, it is simple expand server or move silver to seperate server Cryptic needed to do a better job of implimenting the exspantion
3 they do this every time

If you guys at Cryptic ran a theater you would pull the rope to raise the curtain and the roof would come crashing down instead. ..

so i got life time, it is a slap in face when players that pay for game and can't
so you are wrong. silver players need to be last is all or bumped

SimCity hasn't been launched. It's still in Beta.

I've been through a lot of MMO launches in my time. LOR has been very smooth. The fact that anyone could even log in and play today is a good sign. I remember when STO launched. When so many people where logging in the servers just kept crashing.

The launch days for both will seem insignificant when compared to the incredible amount of backlash and damage control that will be needed when Xbox One comes out.

You post wreaks of ignorance and antogonism. FYI, lifers are supposed to be given login priority, it's one of the benefits.

How long have you had the LTS? Because after a certain amount of time, you're playing for free compared compared to the monthly cost of a gold subscription.

So having fun all by yourself in sector space.

I was able to level to 10. There was lag during loading screens and turning in missions, but that was it.

An hour and a half of extra downtime is nothing. Sim-City had a week of downtime bare minimum, with promised features disabled when it came back, severely impacting the gameplay.

This is not about life/gold/silver. Each player has the right to play within the boundaries and privileges of their status. Players should not be segregated, either.

What this is about is the servers. It takes me back to a lesson my parents drummed in to me at a young age. Anything worth doing is worth doing the right way. It's obvious the launch of LoR wasn't done the right way, otherwise I'd be playing it this very minute. Cryptic, you need to test the life out of things this big. If that means postponing by a day, so be it. I'd prefer to be playing Season 7 now and waiting for Season 8 to be launched tomorrow than have Season 8 be launched and not playing anything at all.

SimCity was an unmitigated disaster. It was two weeks before people could play the game in any stable way. Not a launch by any stretch of the imagination, but a painfully slow beta-to-live transition that turned us all into suckers for believing Maxis could deliver under EA.

STO will be up and running just fine shortly. Cryptic has always been pretty good with launches.

you silver players are causing these issuses and secondly I am a lifetimer i should not be having log in issues i amin the top of the food chain here
I have been playing STO since season 2
silver needs to have to be at the bottom when launches or when server filled you get bumped not those who pay for the game thankyou

I'm guessing you're one of those people that had your parent pay your lifetime sub for you. On top of that, you're giving the Lifetime members who are not elitist douchebags a bad name.

Silver players may not have had the money to subscribe, much less go for a LTS, but that does not make them any less important than us gold members.

By the way, heads up Lifetimers that feel they should push Silvers like me into separate servers...

$300 dollars at launch = 2.5 years of paying for subscription every month.
So after 2.5 years, you can't say you're still paying for the game with lifetime sub.
If you say "I still bought stuff after that!", guess what. I, a silver player, have bought zen too.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

What does it take to get Dan fired? He and his team have effed up every release of everything in this game. After all this time, still total incompetence and lack of foresight. Must be nice to TRIBBLE up every content release in the game's existance and still get to keep your job...

I'm a lifer and I want to distance myself from any fool who wishes to create divides and boundaries between players. The game is richer for having more people in it. As such I try to help new players when I happen across them, regardless of their financial commitment to the game. The more the merrier in STO!!

One thing I'm not happy with is that when I change character I get put back in the queue. I feel that (regardless of your financial commitment to the game) once you're logged in you shouldn't have to re-enter the queue unless you completely log out. Changing characters was implemented so people wouldn't have to log out when changing!!

To be honoest didn't every wow launch have a fiasco of server melt down, heck didn't mists crash most of battle net making Diablo and Starcraft hell to play :P

Every big mmo struggles if the entire population want to play all at once and sto is doing pretty well so big it is.

It worked fine when it was just out of the update, of course then the local cell towers probaly went down as people who got on fast, sent txts to their friends at work and school, telling them how good it is. Then they all got home, and crashed the game, and even now continue to claw at the walls with rage trying to force into the servers, thinking there the only gold, lifetime whatever lol. I bet right now 2/3 of the original life timers are in que, making the golds rage about how its not possible for them to be in the hundreds, because to them no one else is crazy enough to pay for it lol.

Oh and upgrade to gold is recommended on a prepatch sticky in this very forum so yeah there are more golds then normal wanting cuts, so its like fast pass when every one has it lol.

Let me put this in a different way, I am a silver, and I can guarentee I have far more invested in this game than you ever would have dreamed of doing in your little "LTS" world.

I have purchased EVERYTHING for feds, and I am down all but two things in the KDF, as soon as the cryptic store opens up, every last drop of rommie C-Store purchases will be mine.

I was a gold subber til 400 days, but I paid for 1k (accounting hiccup trashed my old standing, service was atari standards which believe it or not is worse than now, they gave me some zen to compensate, not much)

I sill play this game, I refuse to remove it from my hard drive.

many of you LTSers believe since you paid 200-300 smackers up front that you are the only ones who pay to keep the game running? how about for those who don't want to have a subscription, but pay more monthly than an LTS does in a year?.

I still periodically pay for zen to buy dlithium, I use it for fleet projects, both my own fleet and a fleet I refuse to leave.

I am a silver player and I guarentee I paid more than you ever will.

I've been playing since Beta, and I am happy to say that this 'Launch' has gone surprisingly smooth compared to most other MMO's I've played. I am happy to see so many people trying to get in, because to me it matters not if you're a lifer or if you're silver. Everyone contributes to the community, to the game, and to the whole feel of the STO environment.

So for those lifers who feel high and mighty, yes you deserve some benefits, the ones that were promised to you when you bought lifetime. Maybe more down the line, but nothing as big as kicking people off of a game to play it. Sure have a fast pass into the game, have the nifty awesome Liberated Borg. A free Legacy Pack? No. I'm sorry but no, when you bought the Lifetime subscription that was not part of the deal. You get what you pay for, and that is all.

For those Silvers who hate Lifers and seek to make there enjoyment of the game lessened by targeting Lifers in Forums or in game, please realize not all Lifers are elitists. Many are actually quite awesome people. Silvers are an important base for the game, they add new blood into it, as well as fill many needed slots that may not be filled in a subscription game.

In summary, I am a lifer, I expect what I paid for and no more. I do not seek to take from others, but instead to aid them in their enjoyment in a shared interest as well as the development of the STO community. I wish you all a good day, and I hope that perhaps the infighting will be lessened in time.

you know...i only had ONE queue today that lasted just under 2 hours...which was fine by me as i had other stuff to do...but i only had the one....it was first day launch of STOs first expansion...it was BOUND to happen.

I for one am glad the Dev team kept at it to get players playing :)

this is sim city 5 we are talking about,. or simcity 2013. simcity 3 (AKA sim city 3000) came out about 15 years ago. Simcity 4 came out 10 years ago.

and i would say simcity wins hands down for worst launch. they felt so bad that they felt the need to give everyone who bought the game a free game.

I'm not surprised there are queues. When this game was first released, there were large numbers of players who just wanted to play a Romulan and have probably come back to the game in larger numbers than Cryptic anticipated.

I can imagine that with an F2P game, the number of active subscriptions is no longer a reliable figure to forecast server needs and so it's now near impossible for Cryptic to gauge interest from players whom haven't touched the game in awhile.

In all honesty, I take the large queues as a good sign in terms of population health and hopefully at least half of those returning players stick around.
