Game crashes on Cryptic "Loading" screen

Bar gets to about 75%, then crashes. Same thing 10 times over, not fixed by computer restart.

This is after patching LOR today. Please help! :mad:

    Pretty much what the title says. The game loads the character select screen and then either crashes instantly or when I try to switch characters.

    So far I've tried verifying all files and removing the Playtest folder. Running without Steam active also made no difference. I'm currently redownloading the entire game.

    EDIT: Redownloading the game fixed this bug, but now I have the same issue as everyone else: Login failed due to unknown reason.

    Best thing I could think to do was a totally fresh install of STO. Working through that now to see if it resolves the problem.

    Phew. I wouldn't reinstall STO atm. That is A LOT of extra Work just to get the same result. I think pretty much everyone have problems atm.
    I for one can get past the loadingscreens, but the login-lobby gives me a CTD. Every single time.

    Yeah, you're probably right. I just wish it was clear that thsi was a problem on their end, not some issue with my local files. I did get a BSOD in the middle of patching, so fear something got corrupted then.

    My launcher gives errors after patching:
    The requested URL /launcher_login was not found on this server

    Just reporting the bug.

    Good luck solving the issues.

    I'm having a similar problem, however:

    Game kicked me and I haven't been able to get back on since. When it tries to load the character screen, I'm getting a "login failed for an unknown reason". I have tried exiting and reloading the game, with no effect. I will try a computer restart and will post after I have tried this.

    P.S. Why did we get our Avatar's nerfed? I had a really nice copy and paste from one of the episodes as my Avatar...the web team really seemed to like it, they stole it and used it for their facebook post when it was Frank Gorshin's birthday...was it a copyright issue?

    i finally patched..and the game gets to 'retreiving character list..then says login failed for unknown reason...is it a bug in cryptics end??

    I keep getting a message "Login Failed For An Unknown Reason" Damn frustrating.

    The reboot didn't work...I will check other forum threads to see if a solution has been posted.

    So I got through an entire second install, and am now able to launch the game. It appears the previous install was somehow corrupted.

    Of course, now I'm running into a "Login failed for an unknown reason". But at least that's in-game.

    hell i can barly get past the legacy loadin screen then i get "program not responding'

    I'm having a similar problem in the fact that at the character retrieval screen it says log in fail due to unknown reason.

    Same. Comes to loading characters then Failed to Login for unknown reasons. Way to go...

    Same issue here as well.
    I was zoneing into the Sirius Sector block (from Eta E)and it was taking about 3+ minutes, though I wasn't getting the "server not responding" error, so I just attributed it to a busy zone.
    Then I got kicked to the login screen.
    I can login w/o issue, but when it tries to retrieve my list of characters, I get kicked out with the same error: Login Failed for an unknown reason

    - I've restarted my client, same issue. Running a file check now, though I don't have any reason to think they are bad since I was playing just fine up to that point.

    Aaaaaaand this is what happened to me after I reinstalled the game. Out of the frying pan and into the fire?

    I'm having the same problem. "Login Failed for an unknown reason", every time it tries to load the character selection screen.

    I got same problem took me all day to download and a full reinstall of windows, redownload of STO and still nothing. :(

    Extremely dissapointed.
