Just cashed in all my dilithium and deleted both characters. I figure the best way to see all the changes being brought about is starting everything from scratch.

I did the same thing, the Federation sucks balls anyway.

The Remans have all the fun and with that new lockbox ship........

Sela is going to be one scared Empress.

It's hard to say, but I think we will end up seeing somewhere closer to 40% Romulan, 50% Fed and 10% KDF. Though, if you count KDF aligned Romulans it would probably be much higher for KDF.

The end number would probably end up being 60% Fed and Fed aligned Romulans, 40% KDF and KDF aligned Romulans.

ill be mainly playing my Romulans
    4 of them

1 PVP sci (main) - female Romulan
1 PVE sci - female Reman
    1 tac - male Romulan
1 engi - Suliban, probably male

ill try to restrict myself to these 4 cause already having 14 toons. from these, apart from DOFFing, ill only "play" my KDF sci PVP main from time to time.

I'm bound to be a Federation-aligned Romulan science officer. Not planning to go for alts - one Tac Fed, engie KDF and Rom sci is enough for me.

While my choice was to go Fed with my Romulan, I have to admit that the KDF thematically has one hell of a case in the mission you get to choose your allegiance - in general, it's far more justifiable to join the KDF than join the Federation: T'nae and Sugihara just don't make strong cases in comparison to Wodan and S'stass.

So, I wouldn't be surprised to see many Romulan newcomers opt for the KDF at that point.

i will not be romulan.. i am not a fan of how they are portrayed, and have pretty much decided to boycot the whole idea.. instead, i will most likely log on for about ahalf hour everyday and get my tholian rep up on my fed toon (since i dont like running alts..) maybe my klink.. (i dont know, i havnt touched him in some time). and then wondering why and how they thought not including fed content was a good idea.. (in a game where 88 percent of the pop plays fed.. and after tomorrow, maybe 72 percent will be fed.. still an overwhelming number.. lol...

    /sigh

I'll be starting another Fed toon and at least two Romulan ones...
(I want to try using the stuff from the STEAM Pack I acquired a few months ago)

I've got several Fed toons in various degrees of completion, so I may scrap a couple of those after donating as much of their stuffs to my new Rom's as I can.
(the rest will go to the new Fed)

I've got one Klingon toon I will probably scrap and restart, just to experience the new stuff being added tomorrow.

This is all very exciting, I figure I'll get at least another year of fun outta this game. :)

For me I am hoping to get a KDF alt off the ground. I tried it not long after I started but I found the starter quests to be eye gougingly dull. With the new starting from level 1 and new stories I will give it another go I have even been looking at Klingon trnaslators for naming my ship, as all my ships are named after my pets past and present I want it to look like it fits.

As for Romulan that can wait.

I'm not making a Romulan, simply because of the perma-BOFF.

Not till there's a way around it, at least.

There will be a lot of Fed players that see Romulans as "Oh sweet I can have a fed character that cloaks" so will still pull more players especially as most people own more c-store ships and items for Fed.

This is precisely what I am doing. I will not play the Klingons. They're warmongers and, regardless of the delusional people who maintain that they are not villains, they are the villains in this game.

Want evidence? Here are some quotes from the in game lore accolades that support my position:

"The Klingons will offer no treaty, no aid, and no hand that is not holding a blade," Chancellor Martok.

"The Klingons might be happy that their crews are dying with honor, but we sent our sons and daughters to Starfleet to explore, not fight," said activist Crom Neret. "Isn't it time to find a peaceful solution?"

In fact, the Federation tried to do just that, sending repeated messages from the Federation Council and even a personal plea from Federation President Aennik Okeg to Chancellor J'mpok. The Federation was seeking peace talks or a cease-fire so that groundwork could be made toward a full peace summit.

J'mpok refused. "No longer will we die the death of a thousand cuts," J'mpok told the High Council. "Peace was the death of the Klingon Empire. Thankfully, it was a mistake that we caught in time."

"Conflict makes us Klingon. Combat makes us strong. I write my story with the my blade, and the ink is the blood of my enemies."
I'm a lover not a fighter. But I'm also a fighter so don't get any ideas...

It might depends on peoples personal preference. KDF is more shotty side. Marauding is "better" than diplomacy. Their exploration is more combat oriented. Defence dailies while boring are easy dilithium/ec. List could go on for a while.

I fully expect that this will be the situation in a few weeks time:

    Federation player-hours >> Romulan player-hours > Klingon player-hours

If I had to put numbers I'd say 55% Fed, 25% Rom and 20% KDF.

Yup I get the feeling that LoR is really trying to push more people to play something other than Fed. This is a good thing for PWE financially and for the playerbase and I wholey support it. Personally I prefer the Federation ideals but not how they are in the game. Though I think Gandhi said it best: ?I like your Federation, I do not like your Starfleet. Your Starfleet are so unlike your Federation.?

I've never given a damn about endgame. I stop playing any character that reaches the level cap. The fun for me has always been the journey.

Yes, I have actually deleted level cap chars so I can begin the journey again without getting my credit card out to pay for new char slots...Though I am sure we have all done this..

First couple weeks it will be like wow when a new game comes out, a bunch will ditch there toons to play the new "faction" then once they reach the top and realize they are playing the same exact game but with less stuff, they will go back to their old toons who have more ships in rotation, until the next fad of romulan comes up when they release a new cool toy on cstore for them.

After all its not even its own faction, its a weird subfaction, 2 races that have to choose a real faction yet don't see the big list of big boy toys endgame. It will still be the same endgame grind, just with different ships, limited to grouping within the same 2 factions. Only real split it does is on the developers who will make more Romulan ships, as expected, and have yet another excuse to neglect KDFs premium content. KDF non Romulans will have to fight over lockboxes for new stuff just like before the "expansion".

i don't think mmo's are for you with that approach.

then again having that approach in a free to play mmo i suppose isn't that bad.

I think that the percentage of end-game romulans is going to be very small, most people will only do the new missions. Why? Because most people spend to much time on their mains (reputation, gear, etc. It will take months to reach the same with a new Romulan character)

hitting 50 is not leveling a toon. 100k in all doff categories, full rep, 10k+ in accolades, multiple 'sets' and top end goodies... thats a levelled toon, and i dont see it being dumped in favour of a brand new rommy.
