The C-Store ships, while an enticement, are not necessary for playing the game or enjoying it.

On the C-Store ships, you are paying for 1) a gimmicky console; and/or 2) a slot which you can use for an Engineering console.

The extra Engineering slot is generally more worthwhile than the gimmick in this Free to Pay business model.

The only thing that bugs my wife with this is that she loves her Defiant and does not like the Promethius or the other RA tac ship. I did not realize that they changed the free VA ship token when going to f2p, it makes sence when I think about it now but I got my wife all fired up for the retrofit Defiant....oops! Sooo, she still flies her Captain level Defiant at VA. A small handicap missing out on some slots though, she thinks it's worth it to fly the more superior class of ship. :P Cryptic, she just wants a RA level Defiant, where's the love? lol

I thought long and hard about the VA defiant, I liked the idea of flying a ship from the series but felt the extra tac slot took away a useful sci power and the cloak was unnecessary since I could get my stalking hit from my free BOP. I expect to be playing for a while so maybe I'll get one eventually, so many other useful and fluffy things to get first though.

The game is FREE. You've been playing the game for a month now for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. And you complain that everything isn't handed to you. How do you think Cryptic makes money to maintain the game? If no one buys Cstore ships then the servers will go down.

If that happens, you won't have any left to complain!!!

If you read my thread correctly you will find there is no complaint...

It is a question followed by a statement and another question. No complaints from me, i love this game!

I have just leveled up to va but I am disappointed to see no ship I m not so bothered as I will just buy one what I'm confused about is that it says that I can reach vice admiral 2 with another 13, 000 skill points but how since my skill points are now being added to the officer pool and is there a correlation between how many missions you've done and the unlockable because I'm va but haven't started the Borg missions yet and I can't play the Borg Pve s so I'm not so sure that the free shiPhone token may come after u complete all the missions I say thiamin because a friend on list had a va ship and he didn't pay for it and he's only being playing along as me just with more time to complete I work 12 hours shifts so in summary don't get too upset finish the missions unlock everything and you may get a free ship but if u don't what's 10 dollars for a galaxy not much only 6.09 in UK money cryptic gave us a free game which is ausome so they derserve a reward too

    Hi all,

I recently achieved Vice Admiral rank and was wondering if any one knew why you gain access to a new ship at every rank milestone except this one?

I find it strange that there is no ship reward for reaching the lvl cap rank of Vice Admiral.

Have any Cryptic staff ever commented on this?

Yeah this ticked me off too. I've been busting my A** to get to Vice Admiral because I wanted the Akira carrier. Just recently reached Rear Admiral and finally realized that I don't get another free ship unless I pay for more than another year. This wouldn't be as big as of a deal if they hadn't gotten rid of credits, the exchange rate for Dilithium wasn't out of control, and the Peanut Labs surveys didn't all let me get through the whole thing before telling me i don't qualify. Also would be a little less ticked if i had known this before i got my Rear Admiral ship. I would have thought harder about my choice if i realized i would be stuck with it well after level 50, and replacing my rear admiral ship costs so much in dilithium that I may as well buy credits. And for the record don't give me the "it's free don't complain" BS. I've dumped a fair amount of money into this game already, much of it wasted on trying out bridges since the previews are so poor. And I've read their claim about how this is the only way they can assure they can bring new content to the game. Since a grand total of one bridge has been added to game since I began, and any new ships they've added have been in the VA category. Whenever I start bringing money in I think I'll load up on zen one more time but I don't think They are getting another dime out of me after that. Or better yet I could just spend everyday mining until I can buy everything I could ever want without them getting a dime in profit :p

I hate how entitled kids these days are...

At launch there WERE NO special level 50 ships (level 51 back then). The ships you received when you made admiral at 40 were the best ships in the game. This is STILL THE CASE. The RA level 40 ships ARE TIER 5 ships, and the ships available on the Ctore are also TIER 5 SHIPS. As of yet, there is NO TIER 6!

The game needs to do a better job of explaining this to people.

The fleet escort, assault cruiser, and DSV are still the top of the line ships for PvE and PvP. They are not underpowered compared to their Cstore counter parts. The only thing the Cstore ships grant you are more cosmetic options, or a special ability (Transwarp for the Excel, Lance for the Dread, etc). By and large these new abilities are not all that impressive.

Sometimes I wonder if they have plants in these threads. I mean sure I can expect someone rationalizing for them sometimes. But it's down right creepy how strongly some people will defend them on everything by things they do to make the game more expensive, to why they can't make more canon bridges. You would never see customers of any other product coming to the company's defense like this. lol

Get on the Wiki, find the mirror universe ship that has stats you like, go on here:

    Exchange
    > Reward Packs
    > Set rarity to "Rare"
    > Search for "Special Requisition Pack - Mirror Universe *ship type*
    > New Tier 5 ship for hardly any cash. If you don't have enough, grind dil until you have enough to buy 125 Zen, buy a Master Key - sell it on the exchange for 1.2-1.4 Million (will only take a few minutes or so)

For the dil cost of a new tier 5 ship, you could convert the Dil to Zen and buy the fleet modules to get a fleet ship (or you can just buy the modules on the exchange for credits). The only thing the cash shop ships give you is extra skins (unless they are cash shop exclusives like the new Andorian, the Vesta, the Atrox, etc).

It isn't hard to get a new ship - you could get anything that isn't out of a lockbox or a C-Store ship with 2-3 hours worth of grinding for credits at VA level, you just have to think outside the proverbial box.

You really thought you'd get a Akira Carrier for free? It's a $25 ship in the c-store, why in the world would you expect to get one for hitting lvl 50?

Oh and BTW, the Mirror ships are little more then reskined versions of the existing T5 Cruisers.

As someone else pointed out, T5 ships you get when hitting Rear Admiral have always been the top end free ship in the game, even before it went F2P. Ships like the Akira and others have always cost money to get.
