The color blue is a bit different from the reasoning behind including or not including a feature in a faction. You're oversimplifying the discussion with really poor metaphor to make it seem ridiculous, and it's not. People play games if they can do something they want to do. If they can't do what they want to do, they may not play the game. That's a potential loss of revenue, and people want to know reasonings as to why that's deemed acceptable for a business model outside of "we like blue", especially when the next topic over here (say, ships being locked off from the ally system) make those decisions solely based on ... wait for it ... reasoning. Not because someone had a wild, random opinion.
Glad you enjoyed the interview, however.
I don't know.. might make things better with a lot of Romulans and Remans about... that said.. they've already said Aliens will be in for subscibers.. so.. all we need to do is wait.
If you REALLY don't like me, you'll miss out on Terrilynn calling me a mysogynist pig (a favorite past time), or miss out on Captain Geko schooling me on how wrong I am, on everything.
the next topic over here (say, ships being locked off from the ally system) make those decisions solely based on ... wait for it ... reasoning. Not because someone had a wild, random opinion.
Here's a bit of reasoning for you; The Romulan storyline centers on you, a refugee displaced by the destruction of your homeland due to the Hobus supernova. Romulus and Remus are the only two planets that fit that criteria. The only people native to Romulus and Remus are Romulans and Remans. This is their story. Period.
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"
9 Episodes = 30+ episodes...?

It's pronounced "S.T.O." "Stow" sounds idiotic! lol
We have been waiting 3 years for Romulans to come out and all this guy can think about is making stupid aliens. I hope he just stays Fed if thats what he wants. I am glad Alien won't be available for Romulans, alien hybrid will be subscriber only, and hope it stays that way so its rare.
I was really getting annoyed he wouldn't drop the subject and move on too. We should all be much be more vocal in making opposition to aliens being available for Romulans so it hopefully never happens. I don't want to see them looking like the Federation.

You fight for the wrong reasons, the lack of T5 free ship (there's only one choice, it's a very bad ship and it's ugly) may be more critical than an alien generator. Star Trek fans will enjoy playing a Romulan. The free ship, not so much.
but 4 hrs... was a bit tough to get through (i think most other podcast often run too short or don't have enough meat, but 4 hrs is just brutal, when the podcast has a longer duration than your daily grind... that's bad)
maybe next time cut it into multiple segments,
give them a name that tells us what topic is roughly inside, so we can jump to the one we care about, or skip one we do not care about at all etc. "nobody got time for dat"
So in all the talk of cruiser balancing, ban hammers and aliengen, did anyone think about asking Geko why the Foundry has been (so far anyway) completely left out of Legacy of Romulus?
So in all the talk of cruiser balancing, ban hammers and aliengen, did anyone think about asking Geko why the Foundry has been (so far anyway) completely left out of Legacy of Romulus?
The lack of that question was startling. It's like the most basic thing to ask if you care about UGC. This is why I suggest, with no spite intended, that this podcast change its name.
They are extremely informed about general issues. They are extremely uninformed about questions relevant to the UGC community, like, "Why can't I create Romulan Foundry missions?"
I'm not saying that to insult Podcast UGC. It is just the truth. Podcast UGC, please conduct your epic 4-hour interviews in the name of the general community, not the community that you no longer represent or seem to care about, unless you are pissed about some aspect of the character creator, while ignoring every other show-stopping bug.
It is painfully clear that one of the main hosts has never even attempted to create a Foundry mission (after 2 years!) despite being an accomplished fan-fiction writer. The main host has a casual interest, dwarfed by a passion for something unrelated. The other host seems to beg folks to even care, when that is a surprise to the two main hosts.
Just stop. Be like Stoked, since that is what you are good at being.
Ummm... why ?
Podcasting in vacuum are we ?
One of the few things I found annoying about the original STOked was that Chris seemingly never took the time to interact on the forums .
In fact , thinking about it -- most of the STO podcasters don't interact on the forums all that much .
Just an observation .
Some of the topics I've talked about on the show come straight off the forums, and I've occasionally posted on the forums, indicated by the post count under my name.
I can't speak for Teri or Hav, but I don't interact on these forums very often because there's often very little that can be contributed to, or that is worth contributing to. Many topics and discussions are repetitious of prior discussions already had, some are throw away topics that are asking mundane questions pertaining to playing the game, most have been discussed to exhaustion, and others are threads that don't really talk about anything I would consider pertinent to my own STO experience. I usually describe a lot of what goes on as just noise. I cringe because it just adds to the noise, which I wish would die down.
There's certainly some stuff that comes off the forums that I would say is "good" discussion, but those threads are too far and few between. When they come up though, it's certainly brought up in conversation between the hosts and usually ends up as a topic on the show.
Podcast hosts don't post very often on the forums for a variety of reasons, but I suspect it's because we are already are voicing our ideas, hopes, and fears regarding STO through our podcasts. The forums all by themselves will discuss these topics either from a forum user listening to the podcast (and posting about it), or the Podcast originally got the idea from the forums. We're more involved with the forums than you think.
If there's something you wish podcasters were more involved with specifically, I'd suggest contacting the hosts of whatever you like to listen to. See if they are interested in coming on and championing something that you want to have championed. Just saying we should interact for the sake of interacting doesn't make the community better.
So in all the talk of cruiser balancing, ban hammers and aliengen, did anyone think about asking Geko why the Foundry has been (so far anyway) completely left out of Legacy of Romulus?
Captain Geko has nothing to do with the Foundry and generally answers Foundry related questions with "I have nothing to do with the Foundry."
If you were to ask a question like "Why does the Foundry not have anything to do with Legacy of Romulus", the answer you would get would be "Because we have no time."
If you were to ask a question like "When will Romulan missions be able to be made in the Foundry?" you would get a answer like "I don't know."
We try to ask questions that are important that he might have an answer to.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] I am a Cheestah.
Check out my Foundry missions
Fed: "To Helna and Back", "Rema Donna", "Animations with Helna", "Mudd's Weapons", "Waiting for Wednesday", "Monolith"
KDF: "Time the Enemy", "Time the Ally", "Time the Traitor"
So what exactly is he lead designer of if not game design (which would include the Foundry)?
he is a project lead designer, Im pretty sure he oversees quite a bit of content, but does not mean he creates the content himself. or even has anything due with that aspect.

Those answers do not bug you, coming from STO's lead designer? You accept that the Foundry is unimportant and irrelevant to STO's lead designer, so why even ask, on a podcast presumably "entirely devoted" to the Foundry and STO? Why even campaign for it, when you can wage a rage campaign for aliengen, because you don't like those answers.
If you are asking the questions that "are important" to you, can't you see what is unimportant to you? It's UGC.
Kirkfat, buddy, I think you're taking this a bit far. Hav and his co-podcasters have the right to say what they want and cover what they want on their own podcast. It doesn't have to fit anyone else's preconceived notions of what their podcast "should" be.
I asked why they didn't ask a particular question, and I got an answer. Thank you Hav, I appreciate that. I think I personally would have still asked, on the off chance he'd say something interesting. You never know. But it wasn't my interview.

I am going to hire an entire team of people who will filter through my work and do the necessary cuts. They will give me a script so that I don't stray off.
And I will also hire terry Lynn.

You should left it at Geko's initial meandering answer, vague as it is.
And leave the rage to the forums...That's what were here for, rage. We dont need a podcast host to voice it and potentially choke us off that future dev access.

Just finished the interview. Pretty sure Bob pissed off Terilynn with his remark. We have a saying where I work, you can be an idiot with one year, and you can be an idiot with 20 years. What that means is, it doesn't matter how much time you have in something, you still don't know it all.
Edited this part because Cryptic gave Hav what he wanted. Now his ego will be even bigger, gods save us all.

That really SUX so it's time for us Romulan players to let CRYPTIC know that they had right when it was only Romulan and Remans Romulan yes are xenophobic and now this J.A. whined like a 4 year old and got his way Aliens in the Romulan faction that just BS first it was we had to ally with Fed or KDF and Donatra is still a damn Borg really I guess Zero was wrong when she said about Donatra in Las Vegas.
So I am going to send a call out to everyone the Romulan community that they should let you guys at CRYPTIC know how unhappy we are.

The Alien Gen was always going to be part of the Romulan Faction. IIRC, the "whining" was about why it was only for Gold players rather then all players. So now it's for all players. Even if Cryptic didn't change anything you were still going to have plenty of alien Romulan captains running around.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
