Visual distortion after driver update

Hello there. http://i.imgur.com/a35J7rE.jpg This is happening to me. It's happened a few times in the past but cleared itself up after a reboot. Today, however, it is insistent and obviously affecting my ability to play. Last night everything was fine but today I'm noticing Nvidia updated itself, and this is issue is now persisting. The "warning: memory low/reduced textures" message has always been there, and I've been playing for over a year now.

Which brings us to my shame. My computer is a dinosaur, had it for 5 years. It's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz, 1GB of RAM, and a 32-bit operating system. Video card is a GeForce 6100 nForce 405. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on it.

I've been fiddling with the driver because my uneducated guess is that it was updated and STO isn't liking it on my specs. In the meantime I wanted to see if you lovely, handsome people had any suggestions. Thanks for your time.

Figured it out, just rolled my computer back to a previous state, I couldn't find the older driver manually.

I had issues updateing the same thing. I had visual distortions on web pages and the game launcher. I updated to IE10. Once I did that I was able to install the Nvidia updates. Before I updated IE the Nvidia update would not even finish. Check out my thread in this area called, Can Someone With Computer Knowledge Help. I don't even know if your issue and mine is alike but there is good advice in the thread from many people.

You really need to get more ram, that would definitly make the game play more smoothly and all of your other programs as well. even if you say you have played with 1 gb of ram for a year I would still recommend getting more.

and dont let anyone tell you upgrading ram is difficult, because its not. open your case and read your current ram for some info on which type you need. then its as easy as going to bestbuy or some electronics store and paying maybe 15 dollars or possibly less for a 1 gig of ram. the ram easily pops out by pushing the tabs on the mother board and is inerted the same way.

Does sound like you might all so need more Ram to play this game.

I would all so keep an eye on your temps as well.

This program will give you temp readings.--->>http://www.majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html
