Edit* Crystalline Entity remake for those that don't know about the new content.
I was really hoping for some new challenging PvE content and boy was this a let down. Why does everything but the no win scenario have to be a faceroll Cryptic?! Can you please make some challenging content!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE
Myself and few of my Fleetmates where thinking that there should be a Elite Version of the Crystalline Entity, but not only that, but all of the PvE missions, I mean we have Elite STF's so why not? You could get better rewards, more Dilithium/Marks etc for doing these Elite versions. In my opinion it would be fun to do and add some more challenge to the current missions we have.
It's not boring, but it is a significant step-down from the original version. I'm not sure I like the prevalence of the Tholians (just feels like, now that they're in the game, they have to use them for every new bit of content).
Love that, even though there's a big warning, people still fire at it during the absorption phase. Guess they really want that 1st Place trophy.
If you want to have more challenge in game use weaker ships. Use lower grade gear. Don't have any duty officers on active duty. You will probably need to do stuff like that to have the challenge you want because I don't think they will make missions be very hard because not everyone has the best gear and stuff to make missions easier. Also a lot of people who play are not hard core gamers. A lot of people who play also use public queues and if things are made to be very hard most people wont be able to finish the missions with random people.
I thought it was easy in my Odyssey with Borg sets and all sorts of shiny things which is about as topped out as a FED engineer is going to get, but I didn't do nearly so well in my Klingon ship that has less fancy gear.
It's one of those events with so much stuff happening on screen it's hard to judge what it all is at first. Just a jumble of images at first. I won't probably have any real constructive feedback until I've played it a few more days.

I'm not opposed to some stupidly hard version for people who like a challenge, so if they want to add an elite version then by all means, but it was good for what i want. a nice middle length fight that is not going to be ruined by a few. getting 1 shocking player is bad enough in a 5 man. with a 10 man you are guaranteed a couple.
I'd maybe increase its damage output a little, and maybe make the shards a little more of something you need to dispose of quickly.

This. I like a mission that is player friendly enough to not make it undoable with pugs.
Mind... it takes 15-25 mins with pugs, and 5 mins with a premade full mark XII purple team.
Plus this is the event that gets us all that dilithium. We need that for fleets.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.
A) pewpew tholians pewpew entity
C) absorption phase, stop pewpew entity, pewpew tholians, and move out of AoE range.
D) Absorption ends, start again at A.
Well, some people are reporting that the matter conversion beam is bugged and doing zero damage. If this is true, then it will probably get harder when they fix the bug.
You are wrong! I just done it with PUG, all I saw there were exploding ships from left to right.
It's possible that the matter conversion beam is working in some instances and not others. In the instance I was in, I don't think a single ship died once.

It's sadly entirely too trivial.
So true. I just tried it out this morning and it was ridiculously easy. Its "regeneration" effects have been nerfed to oblivion. I didn't even find the need to dodge those crystal shards. Although I never agreed with the idea that it could regenerate from large shards hitting small craft/mines, the fact that they removed this feature gave rise to all these carrier pet spam and mine spam that pretty much clears out all the crystal shards.
I also noticed that the CE's beams now fires regardless of it's health at multiple targets. While that's a nice change, I also noticed that it's beams just doesn't hurt like it used to. Aside from the shards and tholians, the CE has no killing power.

At once time, I was taking a lot of damage from it in a Bortasque, but an escort I used took little damabe (both where cannoning it, sitting at 5km range).
I support the vote to kick, and I would not mind an elite version.
But then again, the romulan mark events need elite versions too.

If it's fun, then I'd consider the re-design a success.
For this limited-time event, we didn't want to set the bar too high. All players should have a chance to succeed. Maybe we erred too far on the side of caution, but I'd much rather have tipped the scales to that end than to the opposite.
When the Crystalline Entity returns in the future, well after this limited-time Event has run its course, we fully intend to offer an Elite version for players that wish to have a greater challenge.
Also: We're currently investigating the bug related to the Matter Conversion Beam. Getting that to reliably deal its intended damage will raise the difficulty of the encounter a bit.

That'll be the fools who don't get out of the way during the absorption phase.

Yeah, I don't remember taking any damage despite being swatted a few times.
Actually, Tholians respawn when the Absorption Phase starts, so you never have to stop the pewpew, just switch targets.

I'd say throw rocks at it, but it eats rocks.

Good news though, a fleetie of mine says he had 3 people AFK at the zone in point and the 7 active players still finished it in less than 10 minutes.
Whenever Cryptic wants to give us a vote-kick option, that would be great.
