A new idea!
Apartments: I decided to tryout PlayStation Home the other day and I found the property system to be a lot of fun.

I started to think of the system in other games and of course I thought of this one. The first thing that came to mind was ?Gala has his own moon.?

I?m not suggesting we all get our own planet :P but like how every fleet uses the same space to has their own base there could be a door on every viable planet/station we could use to access our own personal apartment!

The more elite the apartment the more it would cost on C-store, with lower end apartments available for Dil.

Bajor, Earth, DS9, Vulcan, Andoria, Qo?nos, New Romulas, and where ever else you think might gave a nice view.

Customisation with trophies, purchasable furniture, and more importantly functionality would include; themes based on the factions, Bajoran religion, the marquis, the Ferengi, your fleets symbol. A borg alcove could be a feature for our Borg captains.
Example: Would you like a Bajoran prayer setup in the corner that you could prey to for a ten min stat boost every day, or a fully gold plated latinum shrine to the first Negas with altered racial functionality.

You would also have access to your bank and fleet bank, mail, and other extras like a view of the city you have purchased your home in (optional views based on what you are willing to pay for), Invite people over, home based mini-quests, excreta.

As for having our own moon like quarks cousin Gala I?m working on another idea for that!

Tell me what you think, and post your own ideas for my apartment system too!

Player housing in STO has been a very, very common request.

At the moment, we do have visitable ship interiors, but apart from RP and the occassional specialty DOff assignment, there is little customisation or gameplay-relevant content to do in there.

Rather than an apartment, it would make more sense in both story canon and gameplay to flesh out ship interiors more. After all, you're a Starfleet/KDF captain - the game lore indicates that you spend most of your career on your ship rather than a ground outpost.

See the links in my signature for a comprehensive ship interior proposal centersolace and I have written - it includes ship class-specific decors, unique deck layouts, mini-games and even episode missions that take place exclusively aboard the player's ship.

This is the worst idea ever. How about actually fixing the bloody game before adding new RP'er TRIBBLE content?

This is the worst post ever. How about making some constructive suggestions instead of crapping on other people's ideas?

Too true.. as has been said before many times some place-able furniture and personal storage and decorations for the ship and star bases would go miles

Even a simple personal instance of an office/living quarter in the fleet bases would be pretty fantastic too.

They have such things in another MMO I've played, LOTRO. And guess what? Nobody spends time in their houses. They're glorified trophy rooms.

I think a viable idea would be to introduce more trophies, expand the trophy placement options in the ready-rooms and mess halls, and stick with that. No 'personalized apartments' or any such thing.

Funny, they have such things in another MMO I've played, Rift. And guess what? People spend time in there ALL THE TIME.

See what I did there? For every instance of player housing being unused, I can think of an equal instance of it being a huge hit.

And yet another is turning home-decorations into a player-market item [pretty neat idea imo].

I mean shoot, you want to talk about maximum financial return from minimum effort, how hard is it to make little table and chairs and boxes and pictures to put in the c-store versus whole ships and outfits.

While I agree that more ships for KDF would be better and should get a higher priority...
It would be a good idea to have a place were I can dump my Duty Officers.
I currently have 200 duty officers on a Heg'ta with only 100 crew... That seems a bit weird.
When I walk the interior of my ship it is massively CROWDED.

i do like the idea of having some sort of 'living space' to use as a personal social zone, although it may be a better idea to utilise the existing captain quarters the majority of ships have. it would be pretty convenient to invite a mate to your bridge rather than meet at some starbase living pod.

Unfortunately, since player interiors still have so little function, I doubt Cryptic is going to waste development time on player apartments. In SWG and to a degree TOR, have function for their interiors.

Right now, we got ship interiors, we got fleet starbases, and fleet embassies that people really don't spend much time in. So apartments would be for pure vanity.

However, on the other hand, if Cryptic does make a civilian faction and one class being dedicated to furniture or decoration crafting, it could prove interesting. Though a very small population would likely be committed for the long haul. :(

I think they should do it, also give you office space and also options to improve your ship interiors. I really feel the need to have short skirted yeoman pouring me drinks, orian slave girls rubbing my feet after i pull of my boots, etc... EQ2 also made some functionality of the spaces by making it useful for selling crafted goods. I have little doubt some way can make such places useful in game as many star trek scenes took place in Kirk or Spock's room, etc... Maybe duty office or other missions could start in such rooms.

The more things that are added over time the more attraction there will be for a variety of play styles. Sell upgrades for yen to help fund the project and let those that want such things have them.

Id personally love to see "like in enterprise" apartment housing that the cpt was in, thought that be cool, be on the 50th level or something seeing starfleet command hq, and the area :)

Because RPers spend money hand over fist on fluff items like this, and money allows the company to pay people to make the game better.

Im an rper and id prefer if interiors had some integral gameplay attached before it before they get into deving it.

imagining - PVP in the ship interiors..

    then it would make sense.

OP - you have the foundry. buy a foundry slot, and create yourself a whole town full of apartments. Then invite your friends and post screenshots. Have fun!

I think devs have more important stuff to do than this.

unfortunately, i dont think cryptic will bother unless they see some way to make money out of it. either directly via the cstore, or, more likely, as a dil sink a la 'featured' starbase projects.
if i were really wanting it to happen that is how i would propose it. 20k dil per upgrade to my starship interior.

Hello, while I can certainly understand the need to have a home where you can actually have options for customization...your ship is your home.
The comparison with SWG does not quite hold up because the type of ship you fly is an entirely different one.
Even the smallest ships in STO have a crew of several dozen and can operate for far longer time than your average SWG craft.
So I am all for customization, but not somewhere on a planet but where you belong: your ship.

Our ships are our homes. That said, the captains quarters in the ship interior is seriously lacking in customize-ability, we could put trophies and models in the ships mess hall, but the captain's personal spaces, the ready room and quarters you cant do anything with. It would be nice if you could change the pictures on the wall, place nick-nacks and trophies on the shelves, a potted plant here and there, display your accomplishment medals. It could certainly be a use for the most useless currency in the game, if you could use latinum to purchase decorations for your quarters. There is already an element in the game for displaying objects in the mess hall, there shouldn't be too much involved with extending that to include the captains quarters which are in the same map.
