TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - March 22, 2013

We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.25.20130128a.60

Crystalline Entity:
  • It should now be more obvious when the Entity is in an Absorb phase.
  • Removed the Entity's ability to Critical Hit.
  • The Entity's 2nd use of its AOE power now deals less damage overall.
  • Resolved a rare AI issue that would prevent the Entity from dying in certain circumstances, when reduced to 0% hitpoints.
  • Each absorbed energy charge benefits the Entity to a lesser degree.
  • The Entity's Damage Resistance has been reduced by 10% vs. Energy Weapons and by 33% vs. Kinetic Weapons.
  • The Entity's regeneration rates at each phase have been cut in half.
  • Updated the Matter Conversion Beam:
    • The Matter Conversion Beam now fires less frequently, and no longer speeds up during the course of the encounter.
    • Matter Conversion Beam's damage has been reduced by 20% per hit.
      • Variance was also cut to 5% from 20%.
  • Updated the abilities of Large Crystalline Fragments:
    • Large Fragments now generate more Threat.
      • Helper NPCs, such as those called by Photonic Fleet, are now far more likely to target a Fragment, than the Entity.
    • Large Fragments can now succumb to Confuse effects.
    • Large Fragments can no longer land a Critical Hit when they ram your ship.
    • Large Fragments will now reliably deal explosion damage when they collide with a ship.
  • Updated the abilities of Small Crystalline Fragments:
    • Small Fragments no longer heal the Entity when they return to it.
    • Small Fragments will now instead apply a stacking 1% Damage Increase buff, when they reach the Entity.
      • Several Science Abilities can now be used to strip these buffs from the Entity after they have been applied:
        • Tachyon Beam
        • Charged Particle Burst
        • Energy Siphon
        • Tyken's Rift
  • Updated the contact's Event Briefing to include all the new information, as well as clarifying other information.
  • Adjusted the damage of pretty much every aspect of the encounter.
    • Some higher, some lower.

Known Issues:
  • Buff Stripping, using the powers called out in the Briefing, does not currently function properly.
  • Large Fragments still pursue Mines, Torpedoes, Small Craft and Summoned Reinforcements.
    • This will be changed in a future update, allowing the use of these abilities to once again be included as valid tactics for the Encounter.
  • The Queue will always result in setting the encounter to Elite difficulty.
    • This will be changed to Normal difficulty in a future fix.

    Does that mean there will be a normal and an elite version? Because with this nerf + setting the difficulty to normal this will likely be the shortest event in game.

    Wow, that's a lot of changes.

    And what do you mean by saying the queue lands players in an elite version? Are you saying the CE we're battling this week was already on elite (explaining the injuries I got)?

    Would that mean the normal version will be much easier to complete than the version we were (and will be) trying on Tribble?

    So, can the Crystalline Entity actually be killed now? It was just like Boba Fett in JKA; you could stab him in the head, stab him in the chest, stab him anywhere, and he just won't die. :rolleyes:

    Yup, now it's too easy. That's the result of "extensive testing" done on Tribble in the past 2 hoours. :P

    It will get some teeth back, it seems.

    Two big things that should have been fixed by now.

    1. Fixing the Tholian Red Alerts I think its been around 5 months since this was launched broken and is still broken?

    2. Putting huge dilithium tags on the stf ground sets but yet the KDF one is broken and has been noticed for over a month.

    3. Okay 3 things... Until my kids are old enough to play mmorpgs I will just have them play with duplos since its the cousin of the foundry they are both blocky...

    So majorly disappointed in the nerf hammer but the pugs have spoken. Perish the thought that cruisers and science are needed for support and dps with escorts needing support and dealing dps. I seriously hope they make an elite version with the tougher challenge and give the experienced, private groups something to play for.

    I really hoped Cryptic was turning a corner here making content that doesn't turn in to a dps race but no a Trill doesn't change it's spot and i can be pretty sure the Romulan and the other half of the kdf faction will be simple dps content. People will stop bothering buying cruisers and science for this reason.

    At least Cryptic got one thing right, it's more pug friendly only because you just have to worry about solo pew pew despite it being an MMO. Cryptic by name I guess.

    Exactly... In tribble the players are experienced, if its a challenge for experienced players its to easy, if its possible to beat with 19 idiots, its too easy.

    Make the small shards apply a HOT, Say 2% of its HP over 10 seconds PER shard, But these heals are removed by CHarged Partical Burst, And Tachyon Beam.

    So it can atleast retain regeneration, and challenge. Because if 20 escorts can warp in, kill it in 30 seconds without challenge IT IS NOT CE! Make CE the Army of One No-Win Scenario.

    a lot of mixed reviews with this one. many say the nerfing was a good thing others just say its a nerfing and all nerfing is bad! I wont debate either view, personally I didn't try the crystalline entity but the one time and due to those, griefers you know the unruly bunch that come around just to **** with others jerks, they came along an ruined it for me haven't been back since.

    As I said, I wont debate the wright or wrong side of the issue, but ultimately it comes down to this the developers of this game, all look at the whole thing with this one simple rule in the form of a question.

    Is this still fun the way it is? no seriously ask yourself this !!!!!!!! obviously the answer was a no. so they did the best they could to fix that whether you agree with that, or not is irrelevant, its not whats best for YOU its whats bet for all of us playing it.

    I don't think Hive is that hard with a decent group, but the reason it isn't worth running even if you can is that it takes 2-3 times as long as other STF's yet hands out the same rewards. Anyone that can do math doesn't bother with it after beating it once to say they did. Whether it's challenging or not is irrelevant. The rewards for doing it currently guarantee it's not worth doing, either way.

    Same reason I'm baffled by the rewards for New Romulus PvE content that hand out maybe at most half the Romulan marks you could be making in Omega for the same time invested... why would I bother doing 2-4 times the work to get a Reman set that I have to do for a Borg one? It's really horrible math.

    They really need to standardize rewards vs. time going forward. It's not a complicated concept but it doesn't seem to even enter into the thought process sometimes.
